It’s ridiculous that a company with 180 employees can’t find a way to give the players a roadmap or something so we can know what the hell is going on with the future of Darktide.
Are we getting new maps? New game modes? Crafting overhaul? New classes?
Come’on FS, make us have a reason to stick playing your game.
Of the first 10 topics, 2 are openly discussing another company’s game, 1 is a player leaving over complaints, 3 are problems with MTX cosmetics, 2 are product/community rant threads, 1 is a meme post, and 1 community suggestion thread that’s been necro’d from the depths.
When that’s the state of the community conversation, somebody is straight up not showing up for work at Fatshark, simple as.
No, we aren’t getting anything. No maps. No Game Modes. Nothing crafting related. No classes. And no new content ever. Darktide is clearly done and finished, they are not continuing the project clearly and for this reason the servers are also permanently offline.
You joke but I was actually visited by a Fatshark employee in a dream and he told me that not only are we not getting new content, they’re actually going to start de-patching the game, removing present content bit by bit until we only have the psykanium left.
I know I’m going to sound like a broken record but how hard is this, really.
The current lack of communication leads me to 3 major worries:
A) they really have nothing and it’s going to be another 3 month content drought
B) they know that what they are making is going to be deeply unpopular and don’t want to reveal it to early
C) They are releasing content but nothing that would justify the level of wait associated with it and announcing nothing is preferable.
Like I’ll be presently surprised if they drop the crafting overhaul out of nowhere and it’s everything we want but I’m not holding my breath for that. My honest guess is a new zone, 2 new weapon variants and a malk’s overhaul for some reason
Not like they announced the Tree Update far in advance, or the Traitor Curse one either (Think both were announced 1 or 2 week prior), same as in VT2, where they would announce things to drop quite closely after (Grail Knight come to mind, as well as the Chaos Waste iirc)
So it’s likely not A, neither is it B (As some of the most likely content was not announced far in advance).
As for C, that’s difficult to say, without foresight at least but I think that for some/most FS will never be fast enough.
But the most obvious one, since War of the Roses, FS has always played with their cards drawn as close as possible, for the most part due to them being unable to keep to a plan (War of Viking being shut down much earlier than they though by the Publisher; VT1’s Mod support; VT2’s Road map and I’ll pass on those from DT) → Managing a school of shark isn’t something that they seem to be able to do
New Zone ? More like new mission in current Sector/Zone probably
To be fair, for the most part they end up delivering. Just way after.
See Vermintide Versus (made strides just recently) or Dedicated servers (Came with Darktide rather than VT2).
I have a feeling they have creative hang-ups and are a team of overthinkers. See the crafting rework from scratch mid development, because they didn’t feel it was “fun”.
Anyway, for the crafting we know that red weapons with max attributes will be a thing. It’s in the game familes and it’s exactly VT1 and VT2 got. So Darktide is bound to get it, too.
We also know they have gigantic backlog of cosmetic content for penances and timed events. But one does wonder when they will finally kick the full train into gear.
