Femme Ogryns and other cosmetic options

I’m happy that FS has committed to their chosen character aesthetic. I really don’t want this to go all “Overwatch” in an attempt to appeal to the kinds of folks who choose their games based on what their characters like to bone.

After talking about this more, my girlfriend tells me that bearded ladies is a result from polycystic ovary syndrome. It’s a very common fertility disorder and results in a hormonal imbalance. The facial hair is the extra testosterone as a result of a condition. it’s hardly different enough to be considered a mutation outside human norms.

Statistically, it affects as many as 6 to 12% of women in the US

That’s a significant part of the population who might end up with some excessive facial hair

Incidentally, extra male hormones can help build muscle. That can be a useful combat ability

Unless you think women have to look like supermodels (Especially with what the characters currently look like!), I don’t see how implementing them would be considered pandering to any kind of sexual ‘fan service’. Making femme ogryn prettier, or more appealing than the men just because they’re women, would be kinda sexist anyway, and the opposite of what i’d like. Make them haggard and rugged and mean looking and like they could punch somebody through a wall, is my preference. So, I don’t see why your point is even relevant?

Honestly, it was the use of the word “femme” instead of “female”. It carries the suggestion that the request comes from a place of sexual/gender identity representation, which (in my mind) put it firmly into “Overwatch” territory. Edit: “Femme” also carries suggestions of what many would call traditional femininity, which is where my “aesthetic” comment came from.

To be clear, I have no problem with people’s freedom to present as they feel. What I don’t want is for this community to be split by divisive identity politics like the Overwatch community is, because the Overwatch community is hands-down the worst game community I’ve ever engaged with in all my years.

getting into paradox of tolerance here; people are welcome to their opinions, but if they want to be a bigot in public then they should expect to be treated like a bigot, including being removed from a private companies website.

My point was that “femme” is a loaded word, and using loaded words where neutral ones fit perfectly is the kind of thing that turns a lore discussion into a political one. In this case, a divisive one.

The quality of a game’s community is important to me, and I don’t want this one going down the toilet by having it focus on divisive topics that really don’t have anything to do with the game.

Incidentally, does anyone know how to hide threads? I don’t want to contribute any further to the kind of thing I’m complaining about.

If you haven’t found it yet, check right hand side (desktop mode) by the scroll bar. There is a “bell” symbol that can be used to alter notifications. Very useful for removing auto-tracked topics.

Champion. Thanks!

I would have tossed in genestealers as a possible thing, but hearing the dialog seems like Sgt Morrow has had dealings with them.

Unless fatshark does it anyway with pulling out lore so deep you’d think they made dark deals with demons.

Say what you will, that team is impressivly nerdy.

You mean as playable ? Or enemy ?

Like one ks more likely than the other but it’s still quite unlikely

Agreed, it’s more likely they would appear as an enamy. Which to be fair that would likely be some fun.

I meant that it would fun if players could have genestealer forehead options for their characters. Little infiltraitors mucking about. But yeah, seems like one of our commanding officers would see right through it.

Sgt Morrow having dealings with them sounds to me exactly like the bait that the storyline has some twists up it’s sleeves and Genestealers will be a thing.

For starters: Who says that the actual traitor has been found?
Who says that all the betraying has ended?

People were immensely disappointed with Darktide’s story thus far, but maybe that is exactly Fatshark’s writer’s genius. The effect of “I don’t even know this guy, why would she be the traitor?” is maybe exactly what they wanted you to feel.

In a twist of events, Inquisitor Rannick actually never found the traitor. He put you and the other Zealot next to each other, tossed a coin in his head and pulled his shabby laspistol on you. But then he sees no reaction, no panic, no fear in that face of yours, so goes “Oh welp, must have been that redhaired woman after all”. He turns his gun on her, continues his speech full of false bravado.
Being a fearful person, she get’s scared and starts to run - All the confirmation an overly zealous Inquisitor needs. He shoots. Job done, everyone clap, time for beer.
But little does he know he actually didn’t catch the real mastermind of this plot. As the traitor is in all likelihood standing right next to him. Because, how would a no-name would be “traitor” like redhair girl get access to the mourning star? There can be only one conclusion:

Of course there must be someone with shady connections within command itself. The fish always rots from the head down.

oh how I do love a fun mystery.

It’s pluasable, and I hope they do have some neat stuff planned as well.

But I get a feeling genestealers are a strong option myself as a faction, they’re on a reasonable power level to us and fatshark can repupose allot of assets for them.

I too look forward to being ripped apart by pursueing cultists with power tools.

Please don’t give them senseless hope

GSC/Tyr are still very much unlikely

Female ogryns? That sums it up, sah!

If any new factions comes, they are the most likely. For one the assets should be easier to create and two, they are referenced a lot in the game. So is the second Hive City and Sgt. Morrow.

Summary

Just a few conversation snippets. There is definitely something brewing…

I mean, of those screenshot, only 1 speak on GSC, and 1 speak of Necron. For the 2nd Hive, nothing has confirmed the presence of GSC there. It’s fully possible to be a Hive where the Chaos cult(s) have already taken control, and gone full Daemon Hive, which would let us have it as the Chaos Waste stand in.

And these voice lines are in the same manner as we had in VT2 where they some time spoke of Orcs, Sylvania and other groups.

Like I know I’m not blameless, as when ever Lohner’s journal speak of Count Noctilus I proclaim that Dreadtide will be a thing and that we will be playing in it as Hedda Bardinsdottir. But you shoudln’t get your hope to high up. Futhermore where going by previous work we can see that they try to have the different enemies work together, in which case it would go against GSC.

While it’s true, it never hurts to speculate and drum up some hype. :3

What if it’s a Gene Stealer Cult that was then taken over by Chaos? I mean, that’d be workable, too.
In VT2 we had Beastmen and they fought alongside Skaven.
And Total War Warhammer shows us that different factions can cooperate temporarily, even distrustful ones, if only to take over a campaign critical target or to survive more effectively for a time.

Only happened once in lore, and has been retconned since.

But Beastmen, while they mostly hate Skaven (Tbf, who doesn’t) VT happen during the ET. Where the Skaven got severe Plot armour and Gary Sue effect, and all Chaos were their friends for some reason, so it’s not really like how current lore GSC and Chaos goes.

But TW games are also sandbox games, VT nor DT are

the odds are slim indeed. it’s more likely we see demons or some side hustle of heretics that can work alongside the mobian for mixed games.

Or they pull something completly unexpected.
