Hi everyone!
I hope all of you are having a blast with the game and that you have killed many heretics and monsters alike for the Emperor! Another year, another time for me to evaluate if I should get Darktide yet.
So I know it’s a slim chance, but… Do you guys have any options for better looking characters yet? Any change since last year when I asked this question previously? I mean in terms of body shape, more faces, more hairstyles without bald spots, etc.

Nope it’s the same old faces that took a nose dive from the ugly tree hitting every branch on the way down, except ogryn of course! Ogryns are beautiful.
Same one, or two at best pleasant female faces and about the same number of female haircuts - which you’ll then see on most female characters you’ll meet in game. D - Diversity! LoL, what a joke..

Why do you do this? The vast majority of media that has ever been, or will ever be, features beautiful woman. Can we not have our one corner of gritty grim-darkness? You’re spoiled for choice, my options for playing military games that don’t feature woman with runway-model-face are almost non-existent. The fact that Darktide doesn’t let you play as the classical, demure, heart-shaped face beauty is a HUGE part of it’s aesthetic. We’re penal troopers, the scrapings from the bottom of the barrel, fighting an endless war against an immortal enemy for our very souls, anyone without disfiguring scars isn’t doing their part for the Imperium.
Sure you can. Like, you can, personally, create an ugly b*tch - I even understand the urge, I do. It’s fine, until you try to force that your preferences on everybody else, now it doesn’t feel nice at all.
Think about it: if what I’ve just suggested is done by majority of players, then you’ll get what you want - a grimdark universe full of ugly b*tches. And then you have nothing to worry about, right?
But seems like both me and you know, that majority of players will create female characters with at least pleasant faces, not ugly. Then I have a question to you: why do you feel you have right to enforce that your vision majority players of this game don’t need, on them? Why do you think you’re special, and they are not?
Though, it doesn’t matter what you think - because it already happens. Most players use you-know-which female face on their characters, the one that looks most pleasant. So:
And that’s literally how it always ends up when a company that is supposed to cater to their audience starts to play a role of “fun police” or push some stupid niche agendas. Nobody wins, it all turns into clownshow.
Yea, yea, beauty is a cultural construct and other bs. Then somehow we have the very same face on most of female characters. Hmm, what could that mean?
So much so this. I’m a 30 year old, hetero, white man that lives in middle-America, and its so depressing to see all these people that just can’t handle any female aesthetic other than the classic Hollywood actress heart-throb. People spend so much time indoors and online, isolated from actual face-to-face interaction, and it screw’s up our perception big time.
Yea the “we need sexy people for variety” argument is a joke. Beautiful people all look the same.
But it is the same, on most female characters. And I’m 100% sure most of this forum audience know which face I’m talking about - because they see it on most female characters either. Again, you can be a lead actor of this clownshow, denying obvious “for the greater good”, to not hurt someone feelsies, be a nice modern person or whatever other stupid reason there are. You do you, but even you, I’m sure, know it’s true.
Again, I want to ask everyone here why they even care? The world caters to your tastes already. Darktide is a massive outlier in this regard, why not play something else if it bothers you? Hell there’s loads of Warhammer games with all the sexy ladies you could ever want.

deathwing a snoozefest and rpg games I won’t touch with a tenpole, so where are the many quake-style 40k hotties?
again, I dont want to take the uglies away, I just want to add “normal” faces as options.
hell add an “forcemodel” option like quake 3 had 27 years ago as a console command so you won’t have to see them, I don’t mind.

Dude…this is just, so much so the opposite of true and you know it. The most played, highest revenue games of 2025 include things like Fortnite, Marvel Rivals, Genshin Impact, League of Legends, Valorant, Apex Legends. The economic core of video-games as an industry essentially boils down to buying sexy outfits for your sexy characters. Which is absolutely fine, but also incredibly basic and boring if you’re not a teenager. Its amazing to have this little corner integrity in Darktide.
Do you honestly want to try and maintain this lie? Want to have a competition? You name a game from the last 10 years that meets whatever your criteria is for “big-bad-woke boogeyman ladies” and I’ll name one that has classically attractive woman and we’ll see who runs out first.
what I maintain at this point is the pointless-ness of discussing this further
