The problem is that it looks like FS lost faith in their game after 2018. 2019 was horrible in terms of updates and 2020 only was slightly better, but still far away from five maps plus weapons in 9 months. Thats what we got in the first year of Vermtintide 2.
2018 has to be the year they put all the effort into the game. After that it went downhill fast.
The last two years just feel extra salty if I take a look at the “We remain committed to Vermintide 2” letter. Can only see the substitute bench trying to push stuff out while trying to keep the game from getting eaten alive by bugs.
Speaking only about myself, I actually find it depressing that I cannot let the topic of WoM rest in peace. But since you mentioned it, I’ll just say that the queue was the smallest of WoM’s problems. The big ones (aside of the unintended and unfortunate bugs which got fixed in a timely manner, at least the horrific ones) were the absurdly anti-fun design of the beastmen and of the weaves themselves. Hopefully those particular mistakes won’t be repeated.
Well, WoM is the only “expansion” so far and as far as I’ve heard the Chaos Wastes are also supposed to be an expansion. Therefore it is the only comparison we can make. I understand what you mean Throne_of_Rats, it gets annoying in the long run…
I also don’t think we’ll see 160 separate queues again (FS just can’t be that stupid), nevertheless I’m just not a fan of separate game modes anymore, which then have a separate queue, which then splits the already small number of players AND - even if more players play again in the first place - the whole thing only lasts around a month and the majority is gone again. Then you have an expansion that’s bumming around because nobody is looking for games… that’s already difficult with the weeklies and for Weaves… well, yes, the queues are no problem, because they literally do not exist.
Anyways, we can only wait what time will bring - threads like this do not change much with an eye on the most recent “update”
Well, it’s a nice sunny day over here so imma gonna go right ahead and be obnoxiously sunny myself. I recall a particularly valuable pillar of the Vermintide community losing their minds about 4-5 years ago over the lack of news, during a time when Vermintide 1 was faring rather poorly and the developers were in complete radio silence. It looked as if they had abandoned the game altogether, but then out of nowhere hit one of the coolest updates the game ever got.
That being said of course I’m secretly dying inside myself due to the silence, but I’d rather be that one taffer who, upon having the magic unraveled and the wonderous library of the keepers revealed, goes about shouting that goblins must have built it at midnight. Probably an obscure reference, but it certainly fits my state of mind.
To bounce back on this, I checked the discussions following the anniversary announcement on steam ; and they are a cluster of toxicity. There isn’t a single nice reply, only complaints.
(Edit : there are some now, which is nice. Read those, ignore the others )
If I put myself in FS’s shoes, this would be pretty demoralizing.
I do think it is better for everyone if the devs took some time to communicate, as I think that kind of negativity would somewhat dissipate. There will always be haters, unfortunately, but most of them seem to be out of frustration from being kept in the dark.
One could see in this a flattering hype, an impatience that shows people want to play the game but got bored from what it currently has to offer, and thirsting for more.
@fatshark, keep up the good work
Happy birthday to VT2, and enjoy the fireworks @everyone !
We don’t even need a release date, just an update, ANY update. Something other than these lore posts, which while admittedly are cool, are so out of touch with the community.
Oh oh! Stinky… Listen here sharkies, I know tensions are running high after the tendy shortage, but that is NO excuse to be mean to a fellow sharkie. Frames are a small part of what makes this game so good. FS has a lot on their hands at the moment, its understandable why they havent implemented something as small as a frame. Enjoy a Quiet Drink for the 4th time, don the shark hat, and get your Darktide pre-order ready. This game and this community are an inclusive space, you can either respect that, or hit the road cowboy. P.S - Verus is going to save this game, mark my words. /S
It’s official I am now very worried for Vermintide 2’s future this is unbelievable the 3rd anniversary releases and they gave us double xp and apparently the same map this community has played multiple times… excuse me WHAT?!?
Either
A
The Good side of this is that there is an announcement coming very soon
B
The Bad they are going to announce that the CW are cancelled.
C
The Ugly they aren’t going to say anything about CW or the future of Vermintide 2.
If they cancel that I don’t think I will ever buy a game from fat shark ever again… Honestly I’m hopeful for A! But they better announce it within the next few days or else I don’t know what the community will do! I’m hoping for hedge to say something because I am quite close to losing my mind…
