Fatshark, could you please save Ogryn? I beg you

As for points 2 and 3, I think implementing point 3 might overly disrupt balance, making it challenging to realize.

However, point 2 could be interesting if the minigame is set up in a way that it doesn’t resolve too quickly. That might be a fair approach!
Ogryn is indeed very vulnerable to Hounds, Trappers, and Snipers due to its slow dodging and large size.

Slap the dog out of the air!

Melee it!

Hit it!

Smack it!

Whap it!

Pound the hound mid ariel trajectory!

Besides a rework of alot of the talents ogryn, for me, needs a similar movement speed as the human characters and the same stamina consumption.

Ogryn’s talenttree is like a patchwork of the human classes talents but worse.

Calm down and put the chair down. You know Fatshark won’t actually do that, right? :joy:

There’s nothing op in what i suggest, any other class can completely negate any gunner in game in several ways, from simple movement, to multiple skills, ogryns can’t do 1st option, 2d is limited, ogryn charge don’t give immunity, unlike zealots charge and zealots charge cool down is extremely fast and got 2 uses, taunt has very limited range, i can go on, but it is pointless, ogryns need massive damage reduction against gunners.

good luck doing it with all slow ogryns attacks and miserable dodge.

Total immunity to dogs, gunners and poxwalkers would pretty much trivialize the game and make Ogryn pissboring to boot

Once had a high AF open-mic xboxer constantly complain he was getting pounced, told him to push after 1st complaint, he resumed trying and failing to dodge.

Don’t dodge the doges, push em (push’em real good) from 2x farther than you’d thing possible, it’s like a force push.

Though I still don’t see why Oggie can’t have a ~2-3 min CD get-out-of-jail free ability for doggos and netters.

Posted these in a other thread

Skill tree ideas:

  • ‘My Sweet Brute’ would allow a dead player to spawn on Ogryns position if the player died within coherency of the Ogryn.
  • ‘Bonky Kong’ ability to pick up and throw Barrels. Teamates only get same knockback as enemies instead of usual cartoon knockback.
  • ‘whack-a-mole’ suppresses enemies within radius after 5 successful elite weakspot kills in a row
  • ‘Infragable Bulk’ immunity to fire during ability use
  • ‘HE SED WOT!?’ Extra 25% damage to enemies tagged by teamates
  • ‘Meat Shield’ pick up any non elite/special enemy and use as a shield. Can only be used with 1 handed weapons and disintegrates after X amount of dmg absorbed
  • ‘Halitosis’ an enemy within melee range to receive 25% extra damage after the first hit if they’ve remained within melee range. Enemy must be hit again to reactive the skill if left melee range.
  • ‘Extra Rashuns’ any medkits or ammo crates placed by Ogryn have an extra 50% lifespan.

Weapons ideas:

  • knuckle dusters. I think this would be huge fun. Like meta knife but for Ogryn. Uppercut special attack could break enemy necks for a nice power move.
  • Nunchuku or flail. Essentially 2 posts or stanchions connected with a chain or a piece of wall left connected to the end.
  • catapult that fires bits of rock. Like the big friendly rock but can be consistently reloaded, albeit slowly and takes up a ranged weapons slot. This would be equivalent of Ogryn sniper.

general improvements:

  • way more efficient stamina.
  • movement speed increased slightly
  • loyal protector gives toughness boost via coherency like VOC (‘promotions for everyone’)
  • No Stopping Me actually working against bulwarks
  • some light attack nodes on the talent tree
  • ability to vault all the handrails of doom with ease
  • able to push poxwakers over. No longer get completely blocked by tiny poxwakers.
  • box of grenades actually able to kill enemies. Currently it doesn’t kill anything really unless directly hit by the thrown box. Even pox walkers can survive. The grenades should do more than just stagger enemies. They’re grenades, not water balloons.

Yes there is. You said

Crazy, crazy, crazy OP.

Do it enough and you won’t need luck. That’s part of playing this game. There are weapons with lingering hitboxes like shield’s first heavy attack and the pick special attack (branx specifically). Also pushes work. Yeah there’s a timing to it, but it gets easier the more you do it.

You said baseline immunity to the most dangerous specials, and a LOT of basic horde mobs and ranged mobs. You can’t possibly think that’s equivalent to dedicating your ranged slot to ghost laspistol or something. Like are you actually trolling saying that? Your suggestions are INSANELY overtuned.

Pushing dogs mid leap is borderline trivial on every class these days. They’ve been nerfed into the ground they’re not a threat to Ogryn. If you want to make arguments from a standpoint of immersion instead that at least makes some sense, in which case there’s a discussion to be had on possible mechanics that could be introduced. Not total immunity though that’s a complete joke and embarrassing to even suggest.

Dogs are for the most part, really easy to deal with on all the operatives. I usually just push them, but sometimes I like feeling cool by dodging sideways and hitting the dog with a heavy attack mid-air.

The only exception is when the dog surprises you, or you didn’t expect to be the target. Which can happen to anyone under the right circumstances.

It feels bad on Ogryn, because it feels really jarring that an Ogryn with all its massive muscles is as helpless as a puny psyker when a dog is trying to bite their face.

Or a dog magically pouncing through a moshpit of 6 crushers, 6 maulers, 50 pox walkers and a few specials, through a flame cloud and straight onto your character with zero warning. That happens too.

I’ve seen the suggestion elsewhere, but a good Ogryn mechanic could be increased toughness break grace period, or stronger toughness break grace period, which would keep working on Havoc. It doesn’t actually have to be that mechanic, just something that ACTS as a grace period upon toughness breaking. It could be mechanically more simple (like straight up iframes when toughness breaks) or more complicated (like an until death type mechanic that can proc under certain circumstances, and/or only provides the defensive benefit if you attack during the time, maybe via staggered damage or something)

The point of this in particular would be that Ogryn is meant to be the tank class and has very, very clear drawbacks because of it. He’s slower, has worse action economy, and his weapons are designed differently. With such a key talent, he could specifically in higher difficulties gain a lot of tankiness value that scales with the damage being aimed at him. Mechanically this wouldn’t be very dissimilar from gold touhgness, if you abstract it: The higher the hits coming in, the more value you gain from soaking one with gold toughness. In this case: The higher the frequency of hits coming in, the more value you gain from having a grace period.

In other words, something of this sort would allow Ogryn to continue leveraging his tankiness for more aggression, which is what imo he is missing on high Havoc. Right now, only Vet can get enough tankiness to actually allow some amount of aggressive facetanking on H40. I think it should be beyond obvious that Ogryn should have that if anyone.

Some suggestions for Ogryn:

  • remove/reduce slow on stamina loss
  • introduce a (movement) mechanic that scales well with player skill, e.g. pushes over human-sized enemies when running into them
  • encourage also a play style with light attacks
  • other classes have been power crept among other reasons because of the availability of weapons that are effective against all damage types, have good cleave and/or access to rending. The Ogryn mostly does not have this
  • power maul could use some power

In case you read actually this: relic sword special mechanic is great. Please consider releasing marks for other chain and power weapons that work in the same way.

I didn’t see Strawhat mention collecting data here so I’ll shamelessly tag my previous suggestions above for @FatsharkStrawHat
