Beat? No. But they definitely should be able to approximately equal eachother in every category. The nature of the game, being one that’s primarily played by randomised team compositions and no skill matching, requires it to a large extent.
The whole game is built around the idea that most people will pick one or two classes and ignore the others.
I wish I could reasonably have a grudge against that. But I simply know there is a good chunk of players that don’t enjoy that part of the game or think it’s ok but “don’t overdo it”.
Also I genuinely am curious what they’ll do in the future regarding the existing classes. I’m pretty sure they will release paid DLC classes which I’m fine with. But will they never add another tree to the other ones or expand them? I guess if we have a steady enough inflow of Classes that will be enough to keep the game fresh. Right now I just rotate between classes after 1 match or 2. Also we have to prepare for when a new class will be released, since we’re so starved on that front everyone and their mother will be playing that class. So whatever it will be make that 4x per game, lol.
They said there would be one every quarter. We’ve had none. And they haven’t said anything about changed plans or anything. So we don’t know. There may never be another class. We don’t know, because Fatshark is allergic to actually communicating.
Your opinion… mine is that we already have more opportunities with the talent tree than what we could have if they had released one class per quater with the old system. 81 possibilities just for major nodes per archetype.
I love current talent tree. Im sure we can expand current tree, but now u can build yourself whatever u want. Love gun on psyker? Catch some talents to be immune to ranged shots while shootin heads. Love hammers? Got it, watch this talents can oneshot daemonhost. Love be fast? Okay, kill specific highlighted enemy and u become sanic.
The game was never meant to have that VT2 system. They very specifically said Darktide would have something far more involved and deeper. Hence the current talent tree is arguably what they said the game would have, plus some more. It’s not the same as new classes, though.
I think you’re setting yourself up to be pissed off and upset forever dude. All that hoo-ha about
“classes are not the same as careers” is, and was at the time, clearly just standard marketing BS to cover their asses from the complaints about how limited the pool of classes was at launch.
Additionally, from the interviews that were done in the lead up to patch 13 they admitted that they had been working on the talent tree system since before launch. So the whole business about “we aim to release one new class every quarter” is also quite suspect. At best it may even have been something of a half-truth, but regardless the statement seems to have mostly been made just been more damage control done to get the monkey off their backs temporarily.
Probably not exactly what happened, but also probably not that far off from the truth either tbh.
Which is also why it’s likely that Fatshark doesn’t believe they’ve reneged on the subject. From their point of view they’ve exceeded that promise. If it’s even considered at all.
Isn’t that the case with almost any game out there?
Weapon selection, tactics, group composition, and playstyle usually require adjustment when you try harder difficulties.
I get it, but ammo economy is tied to vet(which did get nerfed)because of scavenger aura in terms of balance. Psyker ignores the whole thing entirely.
You either make it give next to nothing, or change the aura to only benefit vet to completely ignore ammo bags. Seeing how things tend to go in DT’s lifespan, I’d say more down the drain. Sure it isn’t about nerfing or buffing vet, but we sure are catching strays.
Scoreboard is healthy. Why? Because u can improve as player with it. I see many players that change way of play or builds they use after i show them real numbers of dmg, crits, status effects etc.
For example: before i started use scoreboard i dont know HOW MANY crits purgatus staff has. I drastically changed my build after that reveal.
I agree. I don’t check it during the match and unless I don’t play a weird build I don’t even check mine. Couldn’t care less about other people’s score. Yes I have a gander at the total, but that’s probably because since I have a very old version of it, it stays on the screen for a long ass time, making it somewhat unavoidable.
Like any tool there will always be those few asshats who misuse it. Personally i think scoreboard is just all upside if you know what you are doing with it.
