Do you think power swords are too powerful?

ah i see

this also looks cool, and should be something similar in darktide as well

Yes there is… it takes less time to kill these groaners without the special. But sure, when an horde comes, you can use the special.
Actually, what saves this weapon is that the majority of players thinks you have to use the special and therefor think that this weapon is bad.

yea you have to use the special attack, if you see many gameplay of people, pros or not, they will always charge it up 24/7, even to kill a simple specialist. there’s not much to defend with the non-powered version of the sword really. it’s worse than a catachan sword.

Even still, it should always at least show it as powered on.

i think you are going in the optic of that, “if you think you always have to do the special attack, then you may think the weapon is bad”

the weapon is sadly bad without the special attack, and there is really no reason for not charging up everytime for any enemy. massive horde clear, and also good at killing crushers, especially a specific mark. we are only pointing out that this is boring because you have to charge it up everytime. and the non-powered version is pretty much useless. you can use it to kill hordes but why wouldn’t you use special attack? it’s better

it is enough to think about how much any other special attack has a reason and logic behind, and it is also unique.

the special attack of the power sword, is literally the same moveset but just charged up.
therefore people just spam the special attack because it’s extra damage and it is something they always will want to have, because makes sense. meanwhile the non-powered version of it, it has nothing unique to it. this is what many people meant

I disagree, but I let you think it is.
Maybe test in psy if an heavy swing cannot kill a groaner.

There is a reason. to be able to kill several groaners/poxwalker fast.
When you charge it, you can kill crushers, ogryns, hordes waves etc.

I suppose that you often use it, like I do. It was my way to go… but I was bored with it and so now I use shovel on the veteran.
But, my opinion is that PS and shovel are the best melee options on the veteran. Shovel is surely better at horde management, and worse to kill the biggest threat (ogryns), even if, let’s be honest, it is not hard to kill a crusher with it. The difference is that with a PS you can kill a pack of crushers pretty fast, and this is a bid advantage nowadays that we see crushers patrols.
On the veteran, cause of these two options, I rarely use something else except for melee builds (I mean here a build with VOC and 6- 8 talents in the bottom right). But here, the logic is not the same as I favor weapons with high critical damages.

As I said, this is exactly why players think that PS is bad.

It could and they should have made it like that. And, in fact, they could have easily balanced it. The gap between non powered and powered is too big in Darktide. And that’s exactly why this weapon is really so powerful.

a single groaner? again, try in a very big horde, in solo, also, you will be forced to use the special attack.

any weapon can kill enemies. it is the fact that you are forced to use the special attack at one point. if you force yourself into not using the special attack to kill a horde, is a malus.

it is very bad as weapon, not because it is not good, but because the poor design. and luckily it’s not only me/

which is faster and better, and nobody is using the non-powered version ever.

and that’s what everyone is about, nobody really use it “without special attack” and because of that, it’s a constant input of spam. imagine starting every encounter always using special attack and then heavies. it’s maybe the only weapon where most of the time you will always special attack first, rather than left click. while for many other weapons it’s the opposite, left click and then special attack.

it’s the monotony of the special attack that makes it boring as weapon. and yea i switched with catachan sword cause at least has a nice special attack, with a reason and logic, for example, i don’t always have to use the special attack to kill a horde (i could do that, but i can use simply the heavies and light attacks)

it is bad because it is bad objectively, and there is no real reason to fight an entire horde without the special attack, and also has poor design compared to Space marine 2, or other any 40k games where power sword is glorified better as weapon.

it’s special attack, light and light light special attack and repeating
it’s boring gameplay imo

illisi instead way more fun cause you charge it up, and even if you cleave through the horde with a single attack, and you may repeat it, the sword “itself” is still fun because lights and heavies still work good fine without special attack.

No it actually needs buffs to feel better. A lot of weapons/classes/skills do.

Braindead attack chains and no situational specials. With chainsword/evi/thammer i need to catch running muties while dodging, playing corrida. To be carefull when to shredd if there is crushers/maulers/ragers blob. 1h chainsword light attacks can’t stagger ragers but they are good for headshots and heavies can stagger ragers, i need to know my weapon, not just perform the same loop - activate+spam horizontals in almost every situation like a monkey.

Power swords could be any powerfull and mobile if it will have either not a braindead chains or battery mechanic (probably will be hard to balance for difficulty tiers cause enemies density increasing) like the Moonfire bow in V2 so player should decide and manage it.

I disagree entirely…
I use non special attacks (generally heavy ones), light powered attacks (horde waves) and also heavy powered swings (crushers / ogryns)

My god… this weapon in the hands of a skilled player can do 800 -900 k damages in a damnation run, so more than the zealot that will take part in the mission.
Buffing it, is the last thing to do.

Reworking it I would agree. But I don’t think it will happen. Buffing it… no, absolute no.
However, I would totally be in favor of removing the special or making it working differently. But then damages have to be lowered…

Need a rework - buff unpowered attacks, give it a charge bar which is filled by hitting enemies and spent on special attacks, specials are proper light/heavy attacks instead of activation so you can add them to combos and tactically manage your charge bar encouraging decision making during gameplay.

I would actually change all acitvation weapons this way.

Nobody cares what a tryhard can do on Damnation buddy. This game catered to sweats so hard it couldn’t even get 5k players after a big patch. If the Devs want the game to grow they need to stop listening to the opinion of the loud minority of Uber players and make the game enjoyable for everyone. Helldivers 2 learned that the hard way. If they add more ball busting difficulties for the tryhards I have no issues with that. But almost everything in this game needs to be buffed to make it a fun powefantasy. An Ogryn needing 3 light attacks to kill a dreg with a 80% damage weapon is the opposite of fun. (No I don’t care that Ogryn “must do only he ay attacks”)

Good players will always find things easy. Their opinion doesnt reflect the game for the 90% of players out there.

Buff Buff Buff

go play SM2, lmao

Make the power sword more fun. For me, it’s just not fun to use regardless of power.

It isn’t the worst weapon… but the entire community (this includes me) thinks that they made a mistake by introducing a special action to power the sword.

But, to be honest, seeing crushers cut in two parts is really fun. I can’t do that with my zealot.

The solution is to make that possible on the Zealot. Both through existing weapons and through new ones.

I am.
