Great take Benny! I agree yeah. People should just be able to make the characters they like, whether that’s pretty or ugly. In the end it just comes down to the fact that there just needs to be more customization in the game. And honestly premium cosmetics really should make use of seperate models for female and male characters.
And yeah, I don’t get the lore argument, like you said, there’s so much official art that disputes this.
The whole premium store is already lazy as hell. Tons of clipping of textures and quality issues for real money + scam premium currency. They don’t want to use seperate models becasue Fatshark functions like low-key corpo: maximum profit for minimal effort with minimal quality. Why do you think we have 4 MK version of stupid shovels? Low effort but “we released X new weapons since October 2023” in PR BS post that will appear at end of the year. Using seperate models for cosmetics would require effort if you look at Darktide release, time it took to take game out of beta (talents rework) and state of carfting - effort is not somthing they like. Release it, milk it, move on. That was so far the policy of all Fatshark games they ever released. Just look back.
I’ve never seen it in 40k depictions before, and it is so awful.
It’s certainly possible someone in 40k would have that hairstyle. But they would be busy overdosing on stimms in the gutter in the underhive.
I’m really surprised this isn’t one of the top issues being complained about. My one female character is the least played so I don’t have a lot of investment in this, but I still think it’s wildly unacceptable.
My dude, you were suggesting that people who are on my side scratching our heads at why you’re asking for this, somehow have a peronality complex of feeling insecure or something.
I’m suggesting, flip it around.
Personally, I don’t care one way or another. Like I said, if enough people ask for it, it’ll happen. I’m just bewildered its even an issue at all. Like, they gave us a fair old number to choose from. Maybe they’ll add more? I don’t care.
I can however see them adding cash shop hairstyles and haircolours! Oh boy.
I totally have no idea what you are talking about. I am all for having A and B option in game. I am saying that if people are against adding either A or B cosmetic option just becasue they personally do not like it - then they have some issues as they are not forced to stop using A/B that was before and it was good enough for them. They already have what they want. So I totally don’t see how you want to flip it around to me as I don’t want to deny anyone any option. I am encouraging adding enough stuff so everyone can have an option. Your argument is poor as it’s totally not related to what I am advocating for and against.
If they simple had them since release we wouldn’t even have that discussion. And again - that was our feedback baaaack in BETA and before that.
Alright lets say they have heard about the faces thing, and its something they’re considering or have been for a while. Either way, thats got to eat into graphics and model designers time. They have to be pretty busy over there anyway, since I’d imagine they have things already planned.
So realistically, even if they want to, its probaly low on the list. Its also, as far as I can tell, not requested all that often, which probably drives it even further down the list.
Like you said, doesn’t affect people like me who don’t care, so hey, I hope you guys get exactly what you want.
I laughed a lot, thanks
I’ve given up on this. I put on krieg headgear and call it a day. The customization is trash, the lack of diversity is trash, all the hair styles are trash. Even after this objective fact, people will still come and say it is okay. Consumers are part of the problem. I simply pretend this game is a non-canon fan fic and stay for the gameplay absolutely detached.
It’s totally true without any doubt that quality of hairstyles or eyebrows (jesus…) are below acceptable. It looks absolutely horrible even on everything cranked in 4K. But game was never really finished, we are just out of Beta now. Character models in general are really low quality.
There are already varying hitboxes in the game. Taller characters have a bigger hitbox but slightly more melee reach and shorter characters have the opposite.
Besides it being awesome for my ogryn to go barechested, one of my favorite things about the shirtless bug was that some of my characters actually looked like women. They looked like a grungy stinky lady that just rolled outta bed, sure, but they were deffo a lady. Now I can’t tell if a character is A or B until they speak.
Also good shout on that vet shirt. The downsize instead of new model thing is so phoned in it’s infuriating. I absolutely despise that cosmetic.
More hairstyles would be wonderful. There really is an abysmal variety, and you’d think these wouldn’t be so difficult to crank out.
Faces – I actually prefer that the faces skew towards unconventionally interesting over conventionally attractive. Options are always appreciated though!
Regarding armor design… as a woman who participates in multiple activities that require full body armor I can tell you that even if it’s not unisex it’s not terribly slimming (and you don’t always want it to be (or care)). If it means avoiding sexy-at-the-cost-of-protective tropes then I don’t mind that it’s “male armor scaled down” – that’s not male armor it’s unisex.
Also want to point out that men can’t customise their eyebrows which is a little disappointing. Is this splitting hairs though…?
i second these sentiments
Badum-tish.
Also yes. It annoys me that the male eyebrows are tied to facial hair.
Yes which cqn be scaled up and down easily because the models are identical.
Sorry bro, but this proves her point entirely. My wife has the exact same complaint as OP. This is such a common complaint it even made its way into the mid year survey fatshark did. Aesthetics matter. Roleplay matters. Its good if you can choose ugly but most people gravitate towards a larger than life fantasy. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be pretty in a video game.
Oof good luck convincing anyone on these forums of this.
And even though 40k is known for having characters with chiseled greek-god tier aesthetics, people aren’t even asking for that. We just want average looking faces for men and women. Not this collection of drug addicts.
