the game cheated for me.
i was at 3/5 and 4/5 i was fully prepared to d ie.
first time someone joined while my entire team was down and i was hounded and the bot came back to life and saved me.
second time I was downed and my entire was dead and i was downed, game went to the fail screen before i fully died so it didnt count.
I got over 4k penance points and I can confirm a few of the penances are utter pain to get and sucked the fun right out of the game for me. The only good thing I can say about penances is it does force you to try builds that are off meta or your preferred build. Which is totally fine until you’re in a situation where you need your build of choice.
Only killing five hundred thousand instead of a million is still respectable in my book.
I wear my skulls proudly.
I use Archivum Sage because me no unga bunga, me big brain, biggest there is.
Yeah that’s kinda my point about the ministorum Guardian badge. It means that someone has become very familiar with all the differences and nuances of each class of each archytpe, forcibly by penance tasks.
I got mine but many penances were a total ballache but that’s kinda the point of them I guess. They’re called penances after all lol. I just hate the ones that are anti team and had to apologise before a mission sometimes. Like the zealot loner penance.
Just stay with the team until you see ranged units in the upcoming section.
Then you run a few meters ahead to get out of coherency and clear them, before they become a problem.
That is the opposite of anti team.
That is basically as team oriented as it gets.
Maybe adding a new penance threshold would have been better. They could have added kill 500k and keep the kill 1 million.
Zealot loner penance isn’t too bad, well it is if you’re the type of player who likes to stick to the team like glue then yeah, you have to go out of your way to get it.
The penances I hated the most are the ones that were grind extensive, such as Ogyrn Heavy Hitter, having to get 5 stacks and maintain it then land 5k melee hits, that was just painful to get organically, made me realize how bad that T30 perk was.
Same is true for the penances regarding the veteran T30 perks, you just wouldn’t get stacks organically and really had to go out of your way to get any progression towards the penance which in turn made me realize how little value you got from those T30 perks, so I don’t even run them anymore. I mean, having to stay completely still and crouch everywhere was just pain.
OMG - I agree wholeheartedly!
The crab walk “crouch dodge” was Christened here…
I hated the zealot back stabby ones. And I actually don’t like the knives so found that one a bit artificial. I could just poke you in the face, but instead … I’m going to back up slightly and throw a knife instead to get this done with.
I think that’s probably my summation. Some I just triggered playing normally. Many I had to go out of my way with a mechanic I never got on with, proving to myself I still didn’t like it. There were few (none?) penances that convinced me to play a different way.
The acronym is ASS for a reason.
We had a couple of “survivors” yesterday, I assume working off some other achievements. A 1xx level guy got downed, and I just couldn’t get to him through the horde fast enough, especially I heard a trapper coming. Barely dodged a net as I foolishly got myself surrounded when trying to get to him. The guy died…and alt+F4’ed instantly. It was the final event.
Meanwhile our level 40 psyker who struggled and died multiple times in that game patiently waited to get rescued. I wonder who has a better mental aptitude for those games from those two
It’s funny. Knives are probably the strongest blitz in the game, aside from mechanic breaking things like smite. If you’ve got decent aim you can top special/disabler kills without ever using your ranged weapons. Especially when dealing with a horde or something in melee. The fact that you can just flick a knife without disengaging is the true strength of it.
Buffing them so they cleave 1 trash mob also made them great for dealing with trappers that approach through hordes. Not to mention them onetapping pretty much everything with a headhshot except for ogryn, maulers and scab ragers.
I only found out how strong they are because of that exact penance.
Yep. I know they’re popular, and why. I think I just need to rebind my keys so it’s not on “G” and I can quick shoot with a mouse.
TBF: I’ve run a pistol a long time. I’m using other weapons with the latest patch, but nothing that takes a long time to switch to and out from. Maybe my bolter build can use them.
In the mean time; I like the area denial of the immolation grenades. Esp on dog missions where you can protect the entire team by chucking one at your feet.
Mousewheel click works wonders. Might wanna give that a go.
Yeah but then I can’t do that think in the lift that … uh, yeah you’re right. What a good idea
So you’re one of those, eh
Actually no.
Imagine thinking a title means anything and not using true level lol
sometimes also true level doesn’t mean anything tbh
I know I was just being a smarta**. I’ve played with level 30 (30)'s that play better than level 700’s. Never really a guarantee regardless of title or level but I have had more consistency with true level
You took the bleed talent off for the heavy hitter penance, right? Bleed kills don’t count for it even if they are from a heavy attack.
