Did fatshark abandon darktide?

So many threads of brainlets complaining that the devs were allowed to have vacation for the holidays.

Nah i doubt anyone is against them having a vacation but you would expect them to learn from vermintide 2s launch that having vacation right after launch is probably not the brightest idea.
So instead they could of delayed the launch to say january

Problem isnt them having a vacation, problem is their style of dropping content then going on vacation even when said content is bugged as sh*t. Or got other problems of note.

This is far from the first time.

Or it being a live service game with constant crashing, and with no update for almost 3 weeks, less than 2 weeks after it ‘launched’. Besides the hot fix to the actual seizures they were causing, which should have been caught in play testing.

Literally haven’t seen a single person complaining that has said Don’t go on vacation lol.

how to kill your game
step 1: release broken game
step 2: break promises about the game
step 3: go on vacation

Normal people with friends and family’s just finished christmas and new years bud.

Guess the servers are also taking a well-earned rest, huehue.

Normal people have been back at work since Tuesday 27th December bud.

I think everyone here would agree that Darktide should’ve been delayed at least until january or even march.
Though if you ask me, it should’ve been delayed until 3rd quarter this year instead, with so much unfinished or simply missing content and features.

What did they accomplish with the previous two delays? Because it doesn’t look like much. :man_shrugging:

Even though I personally wouldn’t have handled this like FS at all, this is a cultural thing.

Some countries celebrate the three kings/three wise men or whatever you call it in English, so the holiday period extends till the 5/6 of January.

Sweden is like this, Spain is like this too (although in Spain it depends on the job, some people only have specific days free), I think Italy too, just to name a few.

It would’ve looked better than releasing the game in december then going on a vacation with complete radio silence.
It would’ve also given them time to smooth out the bugs, though they are not the worst problem here.

Alternatively, it would have given them even more rope with which to hang themselves. This isn’t a complex game, it really shouldn’t have taken this long to develop.

This, the issue is not they are on vacation, the issue is they chose to release a broken game just before going on vacation.

I never like to state if something is complex or not, you never know how things are handled in the backend, and given the performance issues and crashes this may be the holy grail of spaghetti code.

That said, they have plenty of experience with this sort of game thanks to both vermintides, so I agree it shouldn’t be THAT much more complex than the other two.

Given that they use the same spaghetti code as early VT2 AFAIK, they kind of shot themselves in the foot when developing Darktide.
Were it up to me, I’d just discard their homebrew engine and buy the license for something that actually works, like Decima or Unreal.

having worked as a dev under a hefty delivery schedule, I don’t blame them for taking two weeks after delivery.

There is delivery and « « « « « DeLiVeRy » » » » »
