lol, some of you guys get off on toxicity way to much
Ironic. Beating a dead horse is PRECISELY what made changes happen quicker.
Because the changes push more of the same thing that they were against. You canāt expect them to be okay with a choice committment that goes against what they play for. You can expect a lot of people boasting about how this game will die and should die and the devs deserve to burn in hell. Not necessarily from here just in general.
Review bombing is bad practice but it underlies community sentiment at a base level; FatShark didnāt deliver and they failed.
I still want the devs to succeed, deliver us a greater experience and keep the game running for a long time. But that isnāt going to happen unless fatshark cedes to community requests.
Thereās a massive disconnect between the player request and FatShark design goals. FatShark wants a grindy game with RNG rolls and no guarantees to chase a perfect weapon in the game. Players want to be able to reliably work toward a weapon that allows them to play a certain way and see their committment pay off. Grind is okay, wasted time and resource engagement is not.
And remember right now, with crafting updates on the way, there is no guarantee of any other sort of content coming out at the rate the player charts are dropping. Which further deincentivzes choosing DarkTide as a āforeverā game which a lot of people do.
This is a very naive take.
If you just give friendly āconstructiveā criticism, nothing changes. Why would they change anything if people are āhappy enoughā and just want some minor adjustments? Changes cost money. They will only spend the money to make changes if its something that is a major problem. The only way to effect change is to make a massive stink.
I would love to live in a world where we can give polite, calm, constructive feedback, and the developers take that and use it to make the product as good as it can be. But thatās a fairytale.
And changing reviews to negative after the latest updates makes perfect sense, since the latest communications have indicated that it is not just a question of needing more time, or getting it wrong the first time. FS have communicated that they are fully committing to this pathway that most people hate, and clearly have no intention of changing course. There will have been plenty of people who were willing to give them the benefit of the doubt immediately after relese, who are now realising that that benefit is misplaced.
Diserved
There are a lot of ways to stay polite even giving negative feedback to something. And there are a bunch of devs out there taking it seriously. Mostly even more than poeple being like ******** your mum ***********.
That“s just not true and poeple really need to stop using such phrases. There are poeple who dislike the pathing or sidesystems, but there are also poeple who“re fine with them and don“t want everything immediately.
They already did stuff to cater players request and they clearly continue to do so. Just because they don“t cater you or others to 100%, doesn“t mean that they don“t react on what is given.
And yes, you can be like āstupid emotesā for example⦠but itĀ“s something a bunch of poeple asked for aswell.
Well, you could do the sensible thing (which I did not do in this case so I am just as nonsensical as you ;)) and wait for reviews and everything is out before buying.
Iām not complaining though. Iām having fun with my friends, but I also do not like unfinished titles shipped.
From an economic perspective, the cost is not only what they consider. The income that will be generated is something to take in consideration.
If they see that a lot of players want something and that it can make them earning more money, then they will do it.
So you donāt need, always, to make a massive stink.
There have been polls on whether people like it, āmost peopleā is not hyperbole.
And the player-numbers and reviews also speak for themselves.
If you think the people unhappy with the system are NOT the majority, youāre just straight up ignoring reality.
There are a lot of different reasons why poeple gave a negative review.
- Crashes
- Performance issues
- No Endgame
- Not enough content
- Cashshop
- etcā¦
And yes, there are still poeple not being able to judge fair about the game itself.
The only poll that“s important is the one FS started by themselves. The other polls started from angry poeple, who only go into forums to vent, don“t count.
I canāt say that I have ever seen a game-developer make significant changes without a massive stink being made. Thatās not FS specific, itās what I see everywhere.
It probably shows the same, but since the result isnt public itās pretty hard to say* anything about that survey with certainty (other than the fact it was rushed).
*edit
Of course it is. Itās a loud minority. It may be what most people think but only FS has the metrics to determine the real lay of the land.
No they donāt. The reviews are again by a minority of the player base. The numbers say something but nothing precise.
You have no way of knowing this. I am unhappy, but I would never presume to speak for anyone but myself.
no one cares
Jesper, there is something that doesnāt lie⦠the number of active players.
On this point, people that point the failure of FS, at this moment, are right.
And thatās why FS changed their plan to deliver the crafting.
As I said it, I checked a lot of reviews. True several points the RNG⦠but it is a minority from the reviews I have read. The majority describes a good game with a core really excellent and fun gameplay. But, and this is in nearly all negative reviews, they also point that the game is unfinished and sold like if it was.
I think FS did the same, and thatās why they changed their plans to deliver crafting. I think also that the persons that express their hate to this system are the ones that come from VT2.
A lot compare VT2, a game at the end of its development (maybe one more DLC? but⦠there wonāt be lot of expansions now) and DT that is at the beginning of its development.
As someone pointed, the game with RNG always follow this path. Maybe the persons that point the DT system by comparing with VT2 think that the complains made VT2 become better. They have just missed that it is always like that it works, in any live service game with RNG.
But, Jesper is also true. We donāt know if people are unhappy of the system we donāt have yet and that they will deliver to us. Myself, my review is negative, but I can live with this system. In fact, the system is good enough for me.
At this moment, the only thing we can say is that the player base has decreased. The reasons, only FS has the complete vision of the why. Nor the people of this forum, nor the users of reddit, nor the reviews of steam are showing the global opinion.
In fact it is well known that you post less when you are satisfied that when you encounter a problem or want to express a bad feeling.
But, again, we canāt deny the number of players have decreased. From it, we can also see that less than 50% of them have written a review. And we can also see that 54% of the steam reviews are positives.
I wonder, is achievemnts completition any way of tracking how deep into game is the playerbase?
I hope noā¦
Cause I have given up penances. Several are impossible to achieve except if you want to run into big problems. At least you need friends or a comprehensive team.
As I always do quickplay⦠I have given up to achieve several.
Example, the one that ask you to not miss one bullet in an heresy game and have 0 bullet at the end.
Problem, every time the team kills an elite, you get bulletsā¦
People that succeeded this penance have, in majority, used the exploit to validate it (log out before the end and come back). Now they fixed it⦠Great but this penance is annoying as the hell.
Imo its cause and effect. If they had not released the game so late and in such a bad state this would never have happened. People pre ordered this game and waited years for it to release they wanted it to be great but sadly it didnāt work out that way.
You say its not constructive to voice criticism but I disagree. Its the only way to get through to these people in fact.
Might have a point here though lol

No they donāt. The reviews are again by a minority of the player base. The numbers say something but nothing precise.
I donāt get why people insist on the reviews being the result of review bombing, and a loud minority, especially as most of the positive reviews offers a caveat along with the thumbs up.
The reviews perfectly mirror my friendlist (same ratio of positive/negative - around 150 steam friends with DT, ~20% revieved the game). Most of the positive reviews are advising people not to buy the game in itās current state and most negative reviews are not recommending the game due to itās current state.
Of those 150 or so people, a large majority are VT2 veterans. They knew well what kind of gameplay to expect and most of them have sunk 100+ hours in DT and somewhere between 500 - 10k hours into the previous VT game(s). The drop-off rate is also similar to overall player numbers, which is very concerning, seeing how itās not a bunch of players new to the genre but players that expected the kind of gameplay that DT offers. But then again, the main complaint is not the in-mission gameplay but all the unfriendly systems that you have to interact with.
I mean here is a funny question, what if the crafting system is late another month or 3 or just comes out in a really broken state (ie blessing not saving property, wrong blessings rolling, wrong level blessings)?
This isnāt even a troll question just thinking out loud about it. A lot of people are citing that the crafting system coming soon is what makes or breaks it but what if itās just a mess?
Is gameplay going to be enough to keep people playing or is that going to be the drop point?
