But you still have to PLAY the GAME in order to do the challenges. So you could say that they’ve added GAMEPLAY couldn’t you?

No, you’re deliberately refusing to respond to my very logical reason for why they didn’t add gameplay, by being flippant.

The 20 minute and 1000 grind is an exaggerated example, but it is exactly what happend with 1.1 patch. If you really, truly believe actual gameplay was added in 1.1, then you would also be fine with my 20 minute loop 1000 hour example, because they are identical.

If they had made gameplay changes, i.e maps being different with different enemies or different horde density or whatever you’d like for specific challenges, then yes, they would have added gameplay.

Adding cosmetic awards for the exact identical game content as previous, is not adding gameplay.

By that logic every game has infinite playtime because as long as you’re playing it its continuing to provide more gameplay. We both know we’re not talking about literal time spent playing the game.

I think you guys are both talking about two different things. Adding new stuff players can work towards vs. adding new ways of playing the game (maps/weapons/heroes, etc).

I think that both of these things add “replayability” not for everyone, but still, there’s something new you can do to some extent.

Is adding achievements to a released and finished title enough to consider it having a gameplay update?

That’s literally what gameplay is. This is a grinding game. Small changes that make old content fun to play again is adding gameplay.

26 com chests is nothing as well as 226 commendation chests. Actually, even if FS gave you 500 commendation chests, you would still have plenty of things to do, cause that would be enough to get hats for 1 character ONLY.

You’ve noticed gameplay is a word composed of two other words, how clever. I’m afraid the mental gymnastics required to say they added gameplay when they simply added the equivalent of achievements and cosmetics to pre-existing content is completely beyond me, and I believe beyond most people.

No. Why? All that changed is I played 2 custom games when I had 2 levels left thus missing 1 tier on 2 chests.

I didn’t take all non-event barrels to the end of Empire because of challenges. It just happened naturally.

Except that it doesn’t. You keep gaining levels, and thus Commendation chests even after reaching 30 on a character. It takes two or three full-book Legend runs to gain one.

Your first 150 simply come way faster. Yes, chests trickle in after that but the rate simply isn’t comparable. This places us all at a disadvantage.
