Regardless of your motives, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask for a crossplay enable/disable option. Other games have it. Doesn’t seem to be an issue.
The difference is that when I felt safe to jump on Damnation (before the Hi-STG days) me and every player in all my Quickmatches was Damnation-ready.
I didn’t grief in difficulties that I could not handle and I made sure to practice Low-Intensity for days before jumping to Hi-Intensity and later Hi-STG.
Now there are level 30 players in Auric Damnation Hi-STG and Maelstrom (True Level Mod) that drag down matches and force me and at best one other player to carry them through the game.
I’m more concerned with my team’s competence than with the heretics.
What happens constantly is that the first time we encounter a mixed horde they are cut down immediately and disconnect.
Probably out of embarrassment for putting up a pathethic performance for the Emperor of Mankind.
It’s telling when I trust the bots to support me better.
I really understand this: I was the same way. However the question I would ask, is when this game first came out, do you think Damnation was similar? Were there a bunch of these “noob” players filling up Damnation lobbies? And even if they weren’t we also didn’t have the Auric Board back then. I think it’s best to give it some time.
I have not had almost any people be that bad, or disconnect instantly. Might be a regional thing as well.
I have seen Xbox players worse than bots: however the Darktide bots are absolutely abysmal and I would still trust most Xbone players over them lol.
I think that’s because crossplay is an account setting for MS, so they probably couldn’t release crossplay to MS/Xbox stores if the setting isn’t honoured
Outside of my own personal experience, I can’t tell for certain whether it was or wasn’t, but the sheer clown fiesta we have now didn’t exist before to the crossplay update, and I’ve been here since the beginning.
Those who found Damnation too difficult stayed in Heresy to practice or played low-intensity Damnation instead of Hi-Intensity if they found Heresy too difficulty.
People were also way better at communicating and cooperation so even during a failed run you had fun, learned new stuf.
I’m Swedish, so I’m not sure if US players are better overall.
PS: In case anyone is wondering, even Swedish fiber doesn’t help Fatshark’s server performance.
Nice day for fishing, ain’t it?!!!
I’ve seen the bots clutch saving runs!
Yesterday I was having a run as a Zealot when we were overrun by a Plague Ogryn and a mixed horde (new players) and all three members of my team died. Two of them left the game and I was able to save it with the two bots replacing the players.
They made insane headshots at snipers, took out ragers and were absolute beasts until I was able to revive the player who stayed in the game.
I want both of those bots get extra medals and rations for their bravery!
Had three different experiences with xbox folks yesterday.
-
I joined a Hi3 game with three mid level 20s who clearly didn’t know what they were doing. Agro’d demon host, weren’t sure how to use the scanner, didn’t know which direction to go. Needed constant saving. But it was just T3, I thought they were totally adorable, bunch of cuties.
-
Did a couple T5 Maelstrom missions which I’m honestly just now starting to feel competent at since coming back. Each had an under leveled, under equiped, under skilled participant in their jail skivvies. Those were frustrating matches to say the least.
-
Did a Hi5STG with a couple of xbox guys who used comms and were startlingly competent. Easy win.
It’s just interesting lately.
I find that most of the critic to console players will be remedied over time. They are mostly bad because they are new to the game. Not because they use game pads or are peasant class.
Welcome to Darktide, where the content is comically easy, and the entire community wants to have pissing contests about a co-op beer and pretzles game.
Pretty sure a controller player could roll psyker, tape down the Assail button, and do just fine.
The problem isn’t the console players TC. The problem is you TC, this is a skill issue a d you just need an excuse to explain why you just lost another game
The way I see it: Console players are just not experienced with this kind of game. They will either wither out or “get gud” eventually though. A bigger player-base is fine by me.
I do think it’s dumb though that apparently they can turn cross-play off, but PC players can’t.
That’s so smart and insightful, thank you for helping me to find out the truth about myself!
I can honestly say from the moment I’ve read your comment my life has changed for the better, I have become a better person for real.
Again thank you…
Yes, we can… all 12 of us that are on PC Game Pass
Make that 13
Tell the truth the bigger question I have is where are all these cross play players apparently ruining Auric runs?
Out of the 15 auric runs between today and yesterday the only cross play player I’ve even run into was a game pass player.
You would think during peak times on the weekend you would, you know, actually run into some.
I have no problem with crossplay whatsoever.
I dont really mind the crossplay aspect, but I neeeeed to know before starting missions if my team is on console, this drastically allows me to change my approach and loadout to suit the now “lacking of ranged efficiency” scenarios i keep facing
I’m not sure if there’s even a way to differentiate between console players or PC players who are just using the Game Pass version.
