I started playing this game on xbox when it came on there, I have since moved to the windows store/pc xbox game pass version and it truly sucks. Not only am I paying a monthly subscription to play literally just darktide I am also having to put up with the god awful nature of the xbox app. I need to do a full reinstall every single time I patch the game, redownloading the game is extremely slow due to the bottlenecking of the app and dozens of other technical issues. I am completely willing to rebuy the game for full price just be done with all these problems on the xbox pc version. I was hoping that I would simply be able to move my characters, cosmetics and progress to steam to fix all these problems. Now it’s been almost two years, I am approaching 300 hours just on my veteran and there is still no sign of save transfer at all. actually it seems all the more likely that it’s not possible and never coming. Worse yet the windows store version has actually become more unstable, before I only needed to reinstall my game every major patch. Now my game is bricked from a 200mb hotfix for emperor’s sake. Forcing me to download the entire almost 70 gig game at 7mbs when I have 400mbs download speed. The future of me playing and enjoying darktide is looking real bad and there is seemingly nothing I can do about it. I love this game, I don’t want to quit it. The most recent update reinvigorated my love for darktide but it also turned my anger towards the windows version to just pure sadness, I will never be able to experience this game not just at it’s best but even just playable and if I ever want to fix it, I will have to cough up 70$ just to redue almost 1000 hours of gameplay, throw away rare old cosmetics that will never be seen again, god rolled gear that could never be rolled again and time I can never get back. Please fatshark. I pray to the emperor on terra that I can get off the unplayable hellscape that is the windows version and finally be able to play the game with needing to make a prayer to the omnissiah that my game functions every time I boot it. I don’t want to leave this game and community but every time I see a 1 gig patch in my download queue before getting on and having fun with my friends I get depressed that I need to tell them I can’t play today because even a gig update may as well be a 70 gig update downloading at less then 1% of what my internet is capable of. As I am writing this I am redownloading the game for the third time this month. It has become extremely tiring and I am about ready to call it quits for this game forever. It would certainly save me the money on xbox subscriptions.

Yeah, This was keeping me up at night and I needed to get it off my chest, Now I am going to go to sleep before it ends up being 8am again.
I feel your pain. Accomplished a lot on my Gamepass characters, got a PC and bought the game today. I’d love to be able to transfer over my characters with their penances and cosmetics I’ve unlocked through the achievements but I’m just gonna give it a go and hope for the best.
I’m just glad the conversation is still alive in the community about this, it would be great!
I’m on game pass myself and not having the redownload/reinstall issue. But I can see why it would be annoying.
The addition I wanted to make is that if this is the only game you are playing you can buy DT with a discount (20% maybe) in the windows store and you can give up the subscription at least.
this sort of thing’s usually not in fatshark’s control. if microsoft doesn’t want to accommodate it, it simply won’t happen.
The windows version still requires xbox live to play online no?
No, that pay for multiplayer stuff is for consoles only. PC gamers would riot if someone tried that.
From the xbox DT page:
"Game requires online multiplayer subscription to play on console (Game Pass Core or Ultimate, sold separately)."
… operative word being the “on console” part
On the actual Microsoft Store page there is nothing like this mentioned.
Well, after reinstalling my game it still completely refuses to work. I think I am done here so I wish you all the best of luck. I am done with this game. I’ll leave the crash log here and go play helldivers. At least that game lets me play after a patch

Okay. I didn’t know that. But if I am going to rebuy the game in it’s entirety I would rather just buy the functioning version. It is very frustrating every time there is a tiny insignificant patch and all my friends get on to play on their steam version and they get to play while I get a 12-15 hour download. I really wish this would be fixed but the last time I interacted on the forms about this issue I was completely ignored by fatshark after one reply. Seems like not even they care to fix this literally game breaking bug.
