Could PC please opt out of crossplay?

Standard Auric game with lights out. Dude triggered 2 demonhosts.

I am not conflating this player with all console players, some fend off for themselves, but it is a general trend.

They dont have enough players and this feature is now an industry standard.

Suffer in silence.

I’m not gonna lie, I see multiple console players with wounds curio join Auric Maelstrom, I back out.

The players with 4 or 5 wounds… when I see that, I know that the match will be interesting (a disaster in other words).
3 wounds (or 4 for ogryn) means the guy is not confident about his build / skills.

Either that or they have no clue what they’re equipping in the first place.

My dude is that nearly 600 damage taken on Arbites? That’s no bueno in its own right

Even though there are some console players skilled enough to handle Auric, the real problem isn’t whether someone is on console or PC. It’s that the presence of overwhelmingly strong meta builds effectively nullifies the concept of difficulty, allowing everyone to jump into the highest difficulty without considering their own skill level. This is especially noticeable with Psykers, who often equip as many as one or two Wounds Curio.

If I didn’t have a buddy to teach me at the very start of my DT journey, there’s a non-zero chance I still wouldn’t know what wounds are.

Not very likely, especially by the time I made it to Auric through my own confidence, but non-zero.

Outside research is an expectation bridge too far for all but the most dedicated.

When I was new I thought wounds were health

Even the visual language of the game decreasing their count as you go up in difficulty suggests this.

Fair enough, I was the only one doing objectives and took a moronic amount of damage trying to fix the servoskulls poisoning the tree with no cover whatsoever. We spent 10 minutes in that last event. Also running meme builds for penances and weapon masteries.

Yup, power-creeping is a bad thing. I had the same complaints in VT2. I think they try to retain casual players ?

There lies the inconsistency : aren’t the highest difficulties supposed to be for the most dedicated ?

This is an entirely other issue : the game tutorials needs to be more explicit on health, wounds and corruption ; and the interface should clearly explain terms like Cleave, Rending, Brittleness, Impact, etc.

Yes, however…

Even the most dedicated shouldn’t have to fight the developers of their beloved game to learn how it works. Doubly so when said devs openly admit they leave out helpful information “just cuz” or whatever BS “reason” they want to give other than laziness in documentation.

My other favorite game, Monster Hunter, is just as guilty and I have no desire to defend the practices there either.

AH also does it, but it only really impacts the dedicated seeking to min/max due to the nature of HD2 in general.

In fact, of these 3 examples, I’d submit DT has the least amount of info actually needed and is the one that leaves off the most basic gameplay info that the others include.

I thought the exact same thing when I was new, but I didn’t even try to attempt harder difficulties until I was able to hold my own on the lower difficulties. Malice used to be hard and would kick my ass, why would I jump into higher difficulties, I don’t think I even started doing aurics until after I was like true level 100-200ish.

That’s what separates us from the ones we most often complain about these days.

I could never aspire to the poetry of Index, but it amounts to something like:

We trained for it instead of trying to walk on a pro FC after years of being couch potatoes and expecting, nay, demanding, to be allowed a starter spot.

I hate when HD2 does it and FS has a serious onboarding problem beyond the initial hack n slash stuff.

I mean, AH/HD2 really encapsulates that Dr. Ian Malcolm meme I posted elsewhere.

The sheer amount of armor, pen, ammo, health pool, durability, etc mechanics they made is…biting them in the ass.

Wait.. How did you get this extra detailed info for the Offense score in your Scoreboard? Like kills/damage, melee/ranged split etc?
