Congrats to Fatshark

Congrats to the Warhammer 40k: Darktide team for winning PC Gamer’s 2023’s Best Ongoing Game award! The game still has the best soundtrack, by the way. Article can be found here. Give credit where credit is due, folks.

How would his pants dry if he’s being so pissy? I don’t get it.

Also a lot of awards are bought, or at least a buy in to even participate in the awards. Not exactly a big reach.

Yeah they improved the game and delivered some stuff. Lets keep the ball rolling. Attachment system seems pretty complete to me. Deliver it.

Well another proof on the wall that people don’t know what they’re talking about. The only question I’d have is: how bad is the competition that FS won this.

They’re lucky that Lord of the Rings: Gollum didn’t compete!!! :speaking_head: :speaking_head: :speaking_head: :fire: :fire: :fire:    :100: :100: :100:

I was hopping Darktide would also win best mobile game, but Honkai Starrail was simply the better gacha game.

Thats an interesting point. Must have been some strict requirements to discount games like Warframe, Guild Wars 2 and even No Man’s Sky. I’m guessing its “recent games that are doing better” rather than “ongoing games”?

What a ridiculous award!

(I wouldn’t know myself, but surely some of the games popular with the young’uns might’ve qualified? Call of Duty? Minecraft? Uhhh, Fortnite?)

It’s been a rough year.

The Day Before devs scammed everyone then tweeted “S!t Happens”

Diablow 4 is garbage

Redfall LOL

Hogwarts was beautiful but boring and bland

Starfield was boring and a worse game than Skyrim

The only good games imo were Armored Core 6
Jedi Survivor
BG3

Remnant 2 is quite serviceable. Nice straight forward game no mtx, or 1000 DLC like any Paradox game.

Nothing amazing and some questionable design decisions, but it was good. Zero buyer remorse. First game in a long time I can say that about.

Then BG3 dropped, and blew everything else put of the water. What a game. True labor of love.

Amazing what happens when you get devs who actually can understand their own game at a deep level. (HINT: It helps they play it a lot. You know… like their job or something)

Also bought PD3 and came back to Darktide shortly after because… well if you know you know. It wasn’t exactly a low key incident.

If I had a nickel for every time a horde shooter that was made by a swedish game company came out with missing critical core features I’d have 2 nickles which isn’t much, but it’s strange it’s happened twice.

Starfield was… fine, I suppose. It could’ve definitely been worse, but it could’ve also been 1000 times better. All we can really do now is hope that Bethesda fixes it up like they’ve pledged to, since all of the main issues (for example, it being a “loading screen simulator”) are being fixed up with reworks and overhauls.

I will not, however, accept this pattern continuing with The Elder Scrolls VI. By the time that I believe that we can REASONABLY expect The Elder Scrolls VI (around 2027-2029) we’ll have been waiting for it for nearly 2 DECADES. It better be complete on release, for Bethesda’s sake.

Investors really need to stop forcing game developers to release early for a quick buck. This trend is getting more and more frequent, and thus more and more frustrating.

My mate is obsessed with Payday and pre-ordered the most expensive edition of Payday 3.

I nearly had to put the poor man on watch. I was genuinely scared for him with how destroyed he was. He didn’t get out of bed for 3 whole days.

I love the game, I do. But that’s like awarding someone in your team “Most Improved Player”.
Most back-handed compliment you can pay someone.

“Yeah - you’re still not the best player in the team, but jeez, look where you came from…”

The basics of Darktide are solid. A lot of progress has been made in a year.

The big remaining issue is crafting. Once that’s fixed, there’s relatively little to complain about with this game on a large scale.

But until that happens, it’s an inescapable gaping wound on the face of an otherwise magnificent game, and will be a constant undercutting drag on anything Fatshark puts out for Darktide. New content and gear is hard to get excited about when just trying to explore the existing weapons will take years of grinding.
