Community Update #6: Signal Update

Thanks for the update it’s actually pretty good changes especially the less resources on more rerolls.
But for weapons can you clarify this?

What does appropriate mean?
I don’t use the chain axe since it slows me on every light attack and pulls my camera around just a bit and I feel almost sick after a 30 minute mission with it and I really don’t want that camera pull to be added to the evisceratior since it’s my favourite weapon and playstyle.

its good to see more communication, but with how several things are being handled still this game is still in my not worth playing category right now. Most of the things you shared just go back to show that fatshark doesnt respect my time. The current system in place for weapons both acquiring and modifying are not player friendly and still need change. I still have hopes for this game but as it stands this game isnt worth it.

I dont know if i am mad or dissapointed… …probably both.

Izzat just VFX or the addition of an actual small AoE?

@Aqshy

EU Regulations:

Time limited offers are not legal in the European Union unless said offer is in fact a time limit that expires - never to return. Regardless of your intentions or your claims that they’re not “gone forever”.
The fact that you put it on a timer suggests that it is a timed offer. This can and most certainly will get your in conflict with Law - because people will push back and contact their local Ombudsmand (I’m sure you have a similar name for that in Swedish, so you should know how little they care for company practices).

Just give us full access and stop this corpo ****, I know you have to say it, it’s not your fault, but who in their right mind is like: Man I sure wish that this Webshop would display me less of its current inventory and instead feed it all to me in time limitted offers. No one.

Are you implying I’m too stupid to go through a few pages of cosmetics?

Every update gets somehow more depressing… Was this what Vermintide release was like?

Kinda ridiculous when you remember what Games Workshop’s online store looks like LOL

It’s simply a bad excuse, but also: yes.

Aqshy is just made to write what his/her corpo overlord says… Nothing more and nothing less, it’s not his/her fault.

But, yes, that is what they’re implying which is total bull**** of course, they just want to prey on FOMO and that is quite illegal in the EU, if they don’t change this by their own accord… I’m sure they will once Ombudsmen from various EU countries start knocking on their door…

Yeah, kinda, for a long stretch of time at least.

Found a video by bellular news that covers a lot of gripes and issues

Oh, I’m aware.

That was more of a question to the developers in general.

It was also a rhetorical question, since I know they know I’m a moron for having pre-ordered their game thinking it would be feature complete by release. Mea culpa.

Good. The worse the reviews the better. It’ll definitely hurt sales. FS only seems to listen and change stuff when financial loss is involved.

Most of the changes here seem great, good work on that.

Still missing the mark on endgame, crafting and loot, but I’ll keep on complaining until it gets addressed.

@Aqshy thanks for doing the emperors work!

Read a couple of replies stating there’s no communication from Fatshark, or they’re being dishonest. And a few posts saying that Fatshark hasn’t done any work on the game.

WTF are ya’ll talking about? I’ve been playing Darktide since the first closed Beta and they communicate pretty darn well compared to other companies. It’s not always what I want to hear, but there’s been plenty of communication. Regular updates, patches and fixes. Community posts. Little story snippets, and world building flair.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not happy that at release the Crafting wasn’t finished, and the Stability/Optimization is definitely a problem. But they’ve posted multiple responses to that issue and have put out several patches to try and fix things. So again I ask, WTF are you talking about?

The Cosmetic Real Money Store is an issue for you? What a whiny ass problem to fixate on. WTF do you care? Maybe it’s because I’m an adult with financial priorities, or maybe I just don’t care about cosmetic stuff in video games. If you want to make your point then don’t buy anything from the cosmetic store. Your money speaks so much more loudly than your post in some forum that assholes like me are going to read and ignore.

Game mechanics being broken = Legit Grievance
Game content that was promised missing = Legit Grievance
Game stabilization keeping you from enjoying the game = Legit Grievance
Game mechanics time gating your fun = Legit Grievance
No communication from Devs = You just want to be pissy
Cosmetic Store exists = You need to learn how to manage your money better

And I am willing to admit that this reply is a whiny post about people whining. So do what I would do and ignore my whiny ass.

Have a good day everyone.

I think most people understand a cosmetic store existing.

They’re complaining about the precedence the cosmetic store receives over getting base game functionality and features in.

Yes and no. VT2 had some straight up broken stuff, server disconnect issues and things like that. They were pretty major problems.

HOWEVER - since it was an obvious technical problem everyone was quite a bit more understanding (though still frustrated) about it, and Fatshark was also communicative about their effort to get it fixed.

There was other “janky and glitchy” behavior with the combat mechanics, AI director, etc. that were bigger issues, balance stuff, and some broken talents (feats). I’d broadly lump all of that into the “concerned but manageable” category. You could still enjoy the core gameplay and progression. This is the same lack of polish most games have on launch.

What VT2 didn’t have - and that Darktide does - are major “design” catastrophes that affect the core gameplay loop and sense of progression and reward. The crafting system was fully implemented (if missing some QoL niceties, but at least all the functions were there!), you can pick any mission at any difficulty, there were private lobbies and Bots used your off-characters gear/level. You got a chest of rewards at the end of each mission that scaled up with difficulty and in-mission performance, etc.

In short, the systems were designed well and mostly implemented well - and they got even better over time. In DT, all of these systems are either poorly designed (mission terminal, times RNG shop rotation) or just entirely absent right now (solo mode, configurable bots, full set of crafting items, decent rewards from missions, etc).

People point to VT2 as “the same problem”. Yes, VT2 had issues on launch. DT’s issues are far more fundamental to the way they’ve designed the game - and that’s the part that worries me.

I’m with you, but here’s the thing.

It isn’t that FS isn’t communicating (they are through the weekly-ish updates here), but its that these communications aren’t addressing all of the “Legit Grievances” as you put it.

#1 - These mostly seem to be getting responses
#2 - They do seem to be working on this (adding weapons, more levels)
#3 - Do seem to be working on this
#4 - This is the big area where FS is basically radio silent / hinting that things are they way they are because of “design intent” (which I interpret to mean they aren’t keen on changing it).

#4 encapsulates a lot of stuff that people are legit worried about. The grind for items (even when all the crafting features are in), limited mission rewards, the RNG basic item shop and hourly check-ins, the many awful challenges, lack of shared resources between characters, terrible mission terminal, etc. The longer these #4 issues persist and aren’t addressed, the more the game will start to lose players as people get frustrated and don’t see any reason/value to stick around long term.
