I partially agree with some of your points.
Precisely, I don’t think removing the locks with X amount of Diamantine is the correct way to go mainly because it would make getting a BIS weapon too easy.

However, I still think there should be a way to remove locks but it should be part of some great quest to do so.
Think of something similar to the weekly tasks but make it fun.
I can write a few examples but the main idea is you should have to play towards that goal.
How about having to kill each boss including DH? or hunt for specific map modifiers? (I know many people will be triggered cos both those examples are a bit hardcore but as I said, stick to the context == play the game with new goals in mind and receive a blessing/perk unlock as a reward)

That sounds reasonable and fun to boot. If unlocking one weapon would take in best case a week it both works for FS and their mythical beast known as “grind till your fingers fall off” (no wait… it was player retention? Somebody correct me here).

Monday – Modifier 1, that everybody hates (woof)
Tuesday – Modifier 2, that I personally love (WHY CAN’T I DUCT TAPE TORCH TO MY HELMET OR MY BOLTER HADRON?!)
Wednesday – Modifier 3, that makes all enemies bullet sponges (He ate 15 bolts and is still hungry…)
Thursday – Modifier 4, shhhh… I’m hunting Wejects… (If you can read this you’re in range).
Friday – Modifier 5, HI / HI-STG (Yes, Yes, YEEEES!)
Weekend – Mix or the rest of them.

Let’s say you have to complete 5 different modifiers on Malice + threat level (you know, so FNGs also could have fun and earn them 550). Still, that should be a temporary idea till crafting is reworked…
I belive there was a common phrase about it - “Nothing is more permanent than a temporary solution.”

You know what? I’m not sure If I want to support this idea after all…

Annoucements of announcements.
God I love modern gaming

Back from holiday, but slower pace?
Sorry to sound a bit sarcastic, but does that mean we only get 4 weapon number tweaks instead of 8?

Obviously a GREAT choice to have 6 different weapons of each type in your inventory.

Now how does the clutter look?
We had this discussion at lengths in the past.

This is the first time FS aknowledges it.
It’s progress. What they will do? 0 faith in their system designers at this point.

150k ordos do not even give you a single good base weapon on average (370+, not even mentioning a non trash stat distribution).

You can literally only make 2 orange weapons with 2k plasteel.

Try 20x the amount of ressources and you will likely still not have a godroll at your hands.

Aside from that, the 10min that you talk about, are the time it takes to spend the (tiny amount of) ressources. You completely ignore the fact that you have to get the currency first.

Good thing your profile picture matches the quality of your posts, because you are a clown.

———
A “god roll“ has to be perfect (or as close as it can be).
Without the correct 2 t4 perks and 2 correct blessings at their max tier, an weapon is not a godroll.
Aside from having high basestats with good distribution, you must get at least one of the two correct t4 perks and one of the two correct blessings at its highest tier, just from upgrading the weapon to orange.

Even if you ignore stat distributions and the fact that different tiers of perks and blessings exist, with around 15 perks and usually somewhere between 6 and 13 blessings being available to a weapon, it takes far more than what you claim to get one right perk and one right blessing on ANY tier.

Simple example:
I wanted T4 power cycler and slaughterer.
I upgraded more than 40 powerswords to orange quality but did not get either of them even once.
This is what you can realistically expect due to the number of blessings available and due to t4 blessings having a lower chance of appearing.

But i am sure you are so good at the game that you beat maths and you get your godrolls within 2 items.
Sure, buddy.

That’s on purpose…I like to test. I have several axes with BM. They are associated with decimator, headtaker, shred etc…
I have also axes without BM, cause I wanted to test them.
In fact, the current system permits you to test whatever you want, you just need time and method.
About time, I said it several times, FS must address that.
About the method, the biggest problem is the lack of possibility to get a 375+ weapon without burning all your money (and have a chance to get… nothing interesting) or wait and check the shop every hour (or every days for Merk’ shop). This is, in my mind, the main problem that must be addressed (something that is part of the “Time needed to craft something” problem).

About the inventory… I use a mod that add sorting methods. One other to mark my favorites. So, this is not a mess.

Btw, as we can see… several want the lock removal just to be able to have only one weapon that they could tweak like they want.
I suggest, again, that the starship trooper system would be better then… again, it would not be lore accurate, but at least we would end the problem of the players that can’t consider anything than a perfect weapon. If we have all generic weapons, the problem is solved.
Keeping a system with crafting and removing any restriction would remove any interest in the system.

You remember a thread where someone has given me the adviced to test slaughterer… I tested. I crafted few power sword and got it (T4).
Btw, I have 3 other power swords with slaughterer T3 (and tbh that’s enough)… 2 on my other vet (MK III and MK VI)…
If you want to test something you can… if you have lot of time (do I have to say again that “Time” is the main problem?).

Fact is, a T4 has better chances to appear on a 375+ weapon. And more when you consecrate to orange.
That’s why I don’t craft 370-.

Again… problem is… time needed.
But, if I read well, players that complain about crafting system don’t say that they can’t craft a god roll weapon… they say that they cannot craft anything good. And this is not correct.

If you craft enough weapon, you will get what you want. The problem, again, is that it needs TOO MUCH time. This makes this game unfriendly for normal players and casuals.
However, making easy to get a god roll weapon in 5 minutes is not, in my opinion, something that would be great… If they would allow that, what would be the point to have different quality weapons? Why would you buy a 360 weapon when you just need one 380? off course, for your first weapon, but when you get a 380, there would be no reason to buy an other one (don’t say me that you need to find blessings, as lot of weapons have few blessings and we would run sooner or later in this problem). The current system wants to force you to craft a new weapon cause you could get a better weapon.
As I said, and I am serious, if they would go to this path of allowing us to craft god roll weapon easily, maybe it would be better to remove crafting and resources and put generic weapon… maybe with a screen where you choose the blessing you want (and off course we can also remove the blessings tiers).

Get it through your head.

„No realistic chance of ever getting the perfect item“
And
„Getting the perfect item within 5 minutes“

Are not the only two options.
Literally not a single person has ever asked for the 5 minutes option, yet you keep rambling about how bad it would be, every time a discussion about crafting comes up.

People have been asking for a way to work towards and earn the perfect item through time and effort.
There is no legitimate argument to be made against this.

This.
Fatshark previously discussed other options/teased ways of earning good weapons:

First, crafting and customizing via weapon attachments a la bog standard FPS. This would be useful for the basics and would have been a perfectly fine thing, granularity tends to help with builds like this. A Payday 2 esque menu for weapon builds would have been just fine.

Second, contracts - Melk was, IIRC, discussed as a way to work towards specific weapons that you’d fulfill contracts to earn. This would’ve given us a guaranteed ‘god’ weapon once we fulfilled the contract. Still grindy, but more direct.

Instead Fatshark decided to implement a means of earning weapons where you have almost no choice, and it was originally one where you had absolutely none, before blessings got reworked to be pickable. This is why people hate the system. They don’t mind working towards something, but it has to be working towards a thing, with a clear end goal and an easily understood connection between effort and reward. More pulls on the slot machine is not a rational ‘crafting’ system, and that’s what this is: you play for more tokens for the slot machine.

@FatsharkCatfish since the upcoming patch is crafting related, is it likely that “unwanted”* weapons will somehow become useful?
For example, we could “donate” them for ordo dockets or to get some kind of reputation with the Inquisition as one of the requirements needed to remove a weapon perk/blessing lock.

by *unwanted I mean weapons that either we got as emperor gifts or we crafted but are now inferior to the ones we use, hence, they just sit in our inventory.

That said, if there will never be any use for such weapons please let us know so we can sell them for ordo dockets…
We just need to know cos it would really suck if we sold them and then learned that there’s gonna be some kind of use for them in the “near” future

On this I fully agree… that’s why I proposed to make crafting easier

Obviously you did not suggest it… but this comment suggest the contrary:

And there will be at one time… red weapons.

Anyways… soon we will see what they plan for the game…

Well it’s August 3rd over here in the Six. Hope for the best, gentlemen?

Been there my Dude…

Edit: Oh, wait that was your topic and you’ve even replied to me. Sorry I’ve been regaling an entire forum with a thoroughly classified tale of heartbreak and woe.

This comment has absolutely nothing to do with how easy or hard (or time consuming) it should be to get a perfect item.
The guy commented on how dumb a system is, where it is normal to have each item about 6 times, with all 6 of them being ok/good, all of them being a tiny bit different from each other, but none of them being what you actually want.

Why not just have a system that allows us to upgrade all modifiers of an item to max, and to change perks and blessings when we want?
No clutter. No need for duplicates of any item.
Just get each weapon once. Upgrade the modifiers and put on the perks and blessings that you want.

Perks and blessings could even be included in a loadout, which means that you would still only need a weapon once, even if you want to run different perks/blessings in different loadouts.
(Just make perks and blessings unlockable, as blessings already are. Remove the cost for changing them and detach the ability to change them from hadron.)

Anytime I play a game with well-thought-out and implemented progression, it becomes so glaringly obvious just how horrendous DT’s is…

Well, it finally happened:

Basically, yesterday was the first day that the daily peak player count was officially (per steam charts) below 3,000 players. Yesterday peaked at 2,901.

Waiting on the dev diary and hopefully this will start turning things around.
