I feel like the dev blog tomorrow is make or break for this game, they have to get passed the finishing/fixing the game and get to some actual content or itās gonna die
How are you able to have THAT much resources where you can just keep rerolling weapons on a per-character basis? I think youāre playing an exorbitant amount in comparison to the average person, which obviously translates to you being much more likely to be able to āroll a god-tier weapon in 20-30 minutesā. Plus, why are we spending THIRTY MINUTES [minimum] per weapon to get it into a spot thatās good?
I think the arguments here youāre making are subjective vs objective when it comes to the overall community, though does an excellent job highlighting the issues the crafting and progression systems have inherently.
Also True, please donāt take this as me attacking you, itās not meant to be: itās just highlighting that the overall system is really meant for people that are avid-players that engage with their endless loops, and are quite literally obstacles for the rest.
its 30 minutes total to roll good perks and blessings on top of a good roll from brunts (usually want two 370+ rolls)
additionally; 4 damnation games, 160mins/2.5 hours, grants at least 2.8k plasteel and 80k ordo
thats enough for almost 10 brunts rolls and 1 full upgrade of the best rated brunts weapon with a little extra to spare
considering you dont do this after every game, you should have enough for a second full upgrade costing around 1.2k plasteel
all in all, unless u play less than 4 games a sitting (or unfortunately heresy stuck) you shouldnt have any problems with the gambling aspect of the game
edit: whats subjective are peoples spending habits and peoples patience
edit2: by the time you finish melks 8 missions, you should have at least 5.6k plasteel or 5 chances to god roll from brunts or even melks, at least 2 will be good enough and hopefully 1 is god rolled, but no one wants 5 of the same weapon so then you have a chance to god roll 2 different weapons twice because luckily you dont have to roll 5 times for a good weapon, been using this tactic and waste such little resources that i always have at least 5k plasteel stored for a rainy day while only spending enough time on the game to finish only 1 melk quest then dip out cuz i get tired of the game rly easily
edit3: jus did some quick maths, spent avg. 1.7 hours on DT per day over the past 2 weeks, so i actually play/recieve less than what i initially projected n i still dont relate to some other peopleās issues
Right, but thatās sort of my point - I donāt have the time in a week to get a full characterās weekly Melk complete, let alone all of my characterās contracts complete. Iām a cata vermintide player, so I really only like to play the damnation+ maps, which I know yields the highest returns, but if I can only play 5-6 maps a week (throwing out a number), and since Iām in pubs I lose 4 of them, my return is dismal.
My issue here is that I donāt have the time to spend on this gambling ā I want to be able to play the game and have fun with it, without having to jump through so many hoops and very likely not even get what Iām after.
And for the record, Curios should be deleted from existence, theyāre even more of a nightmare.
Ye naw that makes complete sense too. Gotta make the system more inclusive to more casual/less avid players.
The gotcha system is a gotcha system but it also is overthetop for its current less skilled and less populated and less interested/invested playerbase.
edit: when you cant craft curios and the rare curios you get are next to useless compared to the ones you currently have are curios rare blessed artifacts or are they throwaway keychains found and manufactured in the middle of a plague infested hive city
Times, what, 60+ weapons? Where you need some double for different builds and different characters?
I really donāt want to spend that much time rng menus.
ye naw 30 minutes too liberal, realistically it only takes 3-5 minutes to roll 10 brunts weapons and hoping 1 comes out good after upgrading 2 of the best brunts
edit: and yeah if u want god rolls for all the weapons its gonna take long, it aint just gonna fall into your lap, i get it if u dont play much, but then for now while FS screws over everyones fun, dont expect much either
I think balance passes are needed if it trivializes the game for any weapon. But even that weapon isnāt perfect and may not be testing what you really want. If I want a T4 thrust hammer that can one shot daemon hosts with a specific config for hitting break points I may never get to experience it like some lucky few.
not with that mentality
Iād just like to throw into the current conversation that:
Most people donāt even want god weapons, and they still complain that the current system is rubbish, because it can ruin a weapon at least twice during the crafting process, and replacing materials takes way too long.
Simply, if the majority of players were put off the game by the crafting system, I donāt care if Tom, D*ck and Harry like it, it needs to be ripped out and replaced for the health of the game.
And seriously, I donāt care how easy some people find it to craft items, the fact I can blow through over 2 million dockets trying to get a single 370+ shotgun means this system is utter arse.
Being hyperbolic doesnt help anyones case, I honestly want to know how many people actually care about the crafting issue to the point that theyd be outspoken about it. Iām pretty sure both sides of this crafting debate are fringed groups.
Not really. Various polls and the crafting board itās a vast majority that dislike it to some extent. Or even indifferent (which isnāt a success metric for a game whose primary focus is fun).
yeah but many players dont even get on these forums or boards, even more so when voting or voicing their opinions on polls, ive heard that only the polar opposites get on here ie people that hate it/support it but none that just play to play which im sure there are tons of too
how would you even āhearā of that? who exactly has demographic analitics of FS forums vs non fatshark forum members?
exactly
ik i dont
Of the percentage on the forums a vast majority donāt like it or are indifferent. And assuming your sample size carries a rough ratio and is big enough trends in the sample size tend to reflect trends in the larger population.
The poll for crafting got a lot of outside views from reddit and steam. And even then I see a lot of criticisms. I frequently hear:
āThe core gameplay is good, but all the surrounding systems suck.ā
All YouTube reviewers I have seen donāt talk favourably towards it.
I just donāt think it can be written off as fringe. If fatshark wanted the metrics they could do a survey in the launcher. But they seem to acknowledge it as an issue, so we get to see what their plan is tomorrow (how exciting!)
im not writing it off, warhammer is fringed to begin with, but the fact that not all players go on forums makes me really question the importance of the issue at hand
but u right, lets see what FS has in store for us, an improvement is an improvement
TBF these issues are also echoed very strongly in steam reviews from the decent number of those Iāve read. Not only the negative reviews either but a lot of the positive ones as well.
I honestly do not care about Warhammer (40k or fantasy) overall. I think itās a neat general premise but Iāve never been interested in the TT or anything. You wanna make sure it stays fringe? You drive away people like me with crappy systems that hurt the game portion. Vermintide 2 is one of my favorite games, in spite of the loot system, it was probably on the border of what Iād like on the whole. (I donāt mind the random drops, the rerolling is annoying. Reds help alleviate that though due to the guaranteed max rolls combined with stats being less RNG unlike Darktide) Below that is a great game. Darktide amped up all the worst aspects to 11 and it just ruins the game portion for me.
