Comm-Link Delay

What shows that they care? The reintroducing of the old version of dogs, muties and shooty boys? The return of the infinite horde bug? The no shirt bugfix that was faster than any other bugfix before? The initial plan to post the commlink on a national holiday?

The lie that steam, reddit, discord, their own website and god knows how many other sites had the same technical difficulty at the same time? Because there is no technical problem in existence that would result in this. Or did they want to post it on twitter so much, that a problem there made them delay everything for a week?

Also I had no memory leak before. The latest update solved this issue. Does anything since release show that they care?

No those aren’t counted as it doesn’t goes through steam and doesn’t make Steam think the game is running

A number of things:

  • Fixing up and mastering VT2 instead of dropping it to move on
  • Every tiny piece of content that actually comes out is crafted with care and love
  • Incredible attention to detail in everything they do (Just delayed)
  • Community Managers engage us in Discord (They don’t have to)
  • Took the Cosmetic Shop off rotation and added 1200 Aquilas option
  • This Announcement thread where an employee goes in on a vacation day
  • The fact they actually do delay content in the first place (They think it isn’t there yet)

As I said, they definitely do care. There is just something in that development process that keeps holding them back since their very early days. No clue what it is, but it weights on them like iron shackles.

Prime example of Stockholm syndrome.

  • VT2 is still generating mony via payed stuff
  • most cosmetics are mashed up and recolored things that are already in the game.
  • pathetic
  • but apparently they don’t have to engage us on the official forum of the game itself.
  • took it off rotation because some users voiced that they think FS was only after the cashgrab with the shop. And the Aquila options where introduced to prevent legal consequences.
  • The bridge day is not an official vacation day. And if your job is about the social media part of an online service, you sure not want to compare it to manual labor jobs. You can write and post stuff while sitting on a beach and drink something with a fancy little umbrella in it. It’s not like they have to drive to the company building and hack in that lines right into the main server node.
  • they do not think it isn’t there yet! It IS not THERE YET! Because it is not DONE YET.

Nothing is holding them back. They are just to eager to announce things and hipe people up for things they then fail to reach. And instead of admiting that, they then start to lie and decive their customers or go plain radio silence for weeks.

Fixing VT2 is good. But they did not care so much, since they released it in a very bad state as I heard (wasn’t there). And then they cared so much that they did the same with DT.

Your second point is just wow, how do you know?

The CMs have to respond but they do not, only on trivial topics. What else is their job, why wouldn’t they have to answer us? I would think that sometimes it is better to be silent but its not 95% of times and 99% of important topics.

The cash shop should not have been implemented, because it is not a free to play game. And putting the fire out is not caring. If they cared, there would not even be a cashshop. (Sidenote: 2 million DT units sold means, that the daily less than 5000 players should not pay for anything for a looong time.)

It is so nice from them that they were here and posted something the day when it was promised. Why is it a bonus that they did something less than the bare minimum but more than nothing?

Lastly, the whole game is still not there yet, more then 6 months in. Why was it released? Why is it not in early access? because they care so much.

I will read your reply if you do, but I am done here. I don’t have as much faith in them as you do.

You mean…unlike those other games they made, that they absolutely dropped and pretended never existed?

I can certainly feel the love and attention to detail in the enormous amounts of bugs on release, nevermind every single patch having massive and obvious bugs. I can also feel their love and dedication in the absurdly predatory RNG design of the game.

They are literally paid to do this.

After enormous outrage and being hung out to dry by MAJOR gaming news outlets.

They planned to do this. Not like she dropped in because something had broken. It was planned for her to drop an announcement. People do get double pay on vacation days, you know.

What content? They sure as hell didn’t delay the game, which needed at least an 18 month delay.

Because I see the behind the scenes stuff that happens occasionally. They post some of it on YouTube. You cannot fake that level of passion.
On top of that, early Fatshark (2013ish) is seen quoting that they always wanted to do a Warhammer Project ever since they played it themselves in their freetime since 2005. This was when they first started cooperating with Games Workshop.

No, they don’t. Catfish specifically often has meaningless banter with us. Others chime in randomly. But they have no obligation to even maintain their own Discord server. This is extra stuff and I could recite a long list of companies who never bothered engaging their playerbase like that.
What I do understand is that you will likely think “Okay, but what does it matter of the game isn’t there?” and to that you are right. I’m just arguing that Fatshark as a group of people greatly cares about what they do.
That doesn’t mean that they don’t trip over themselves at times.

From what I hear map content and such will be free. Chaos Wastes was also free. And so was Trail of Treachery. Early VT2 and before you had to pay for this type of content the classic DLC way.
The community gave scathing reviews of that citing “playerbase splitting” as reason. And since midway in VT2, it seems map and playable content is free and the cosmetic shop is an alternative income source, rather than an added further income source.

They could have told to Catfish not to clock in and instead enjoy their holiday, customers (us) be damned. For this I know many companies, too, who use this as modus operandi.
Their first mistake was of course to release the Comm Link on a holiday, just to keep with the Thursday pattern. They could have broken the pattern or pushed it back two weeks right when pushing back the Comm Link was the topic.
I guess they just didn’t foresee the errors they got when they started rolling the stuff out in the background (some of the new content was in Ogryn’s Cosmetic Brunt Shop for a few hours, so new stuff is coming on that front, too).

That is true and I fully agree. They should have started using the Early Access model from day 1 since it was a thing in Steam, especially since it lends itself so well to how Fatshark produces their games.
So you are right. Why did they not do it? I can’t tell you. I wish I could.

Fully understandable. It’s a lot of disappointment lately. Just check back when the console launch happens. Game will be quite different then I believe.

I tell you something you may not realise. YES they have to!
The game is missing a BIG KEY FEATURE. A Feature so basic that almost every other online coop game has it!
AN IN GAME GROUP FINDER TOOL.
The game is build around and desinged to be played by 4 people each round.
The HUB you are in is local and has no world wide ALL CHAT. You can write to 8 or so people there.
If there would be no Discord server, players would have to make their own. And people would point out the fact that this group finding tool is missing way more!

Some side notes about the Discord.

  • There is a hugh ammount of people on this planet that straight up refuse to use Discord for specific reasons regarding digital security.
  • There is a hugh ammount of people that are straight up unable to use Discord.
  • There are many people baned from the Darktide Discord. Some for good reasons. Others for less good reasons. The Darktide discord Admins do not give out warnings and apply the rules so loose that most of the time you could think they manage the Discord depending on their current emotional status.

There are more replies in this thread than online players. Interesting.

Are we in the finding out stage now?

You do not need a group finder tool to play the game. Public Matchmaking’s got you.

That said, the game technically would have a Group Finder and Organizer too. It’s ingame, but disabled atm because it’s broken.

You’re right about the Discord. One wrong Hot take too many, one joke that doesn’t land, it can all go very quickly. I chalk that up to post-modernitis, but I cannot say anything against it. It’s true.

On Gamepass ? Cause not on steam

Feels like we were the ones messing around and we are now the ones finding out. We seem to have forgotten the key detail about cyberpunk dystopias.

Corpo doesn’t care about you, peasant.

I guarantee the ‘big’ announcement will be the new Xbox release date and maybe some half-baked content to fluff it out. AKA, they aren’t actually putting much effort into fixing the core issues with the game to ensure long-term success… They are once again trying to do a quick money grab from unsuspecting console players, just like they did with the PC launch.

Such a wasted potential of a gem. It always hurts the most when a great game concept is being developed by such a garbage-tier company. Fatshark is so unabashedly disrespectful to their community’s time.

Frankly, I’m completely out of goodwill toward FS. PvE horde shooters are starting to make a surprising comeback, FS won’t be the only fish in the pond for very much longer; and frankly, I will throw money at any real competitor that emerges so I don’t have to deal with this dumpster fire of a company anymore.

I bet that they will announce a release date for Xbox version next week…

i wonder if the release of xbox game will follow same pattern as cyberpunk console release

Still on holiday I’m assuming so this likely wont be seen until next week.

Is it a technical issue with the patch or unrelated to the game?
Does this mean the content patch won’t be at the end of May and instead sometime early June?

Thanks

Boltgun will release on 23. of May. The 19. May was FS last chance to bring out any news to prevent a B.I.G decline in player numbers.
Not that many would leave to play Boltgun anyway. But this was their last chance to show any kind of good will and progress regarding the biggest concerns of the players.

  • RNG
  • Locks
  • maps
  • game modes
  • Classes
  • weapons

setting the com link even further onto the 25. May is 100% the last nail in the coffin.
@FatsharkCatfish from a marketing point of view your company is on a straight curse to drive the car frontal into a tree at high speed.
