Cliffhanger penance help

Another day another request for help with a bizarre penance.

Cliffhanger for psycher (of all the classes to get this penance?!).

Any tips please? Psycher can barely push their chest out when breathing lol so I know a force sword is required but even that is pretty tame.

Are there any powers etc that make this easier?

And which maps have bits early on for attempting this? Chasm logistatum is one. Any others stick out?

It’s such a weird penance for a psycher. :man_shrugging:

The Torrent assassination mission has a very convenient cliff near the start where you leave the sewers for more industrial area that usually spawns some kind of horde. Tell your teammates about your intent to get the penance and ask they don’t shoot the horde. Use venting shriek to yeet everything off and wait like 10-20 seconds and the penance will proc (it takes a while for them to fall to their deaths)

Oh nice so venting shriek is allowed. That will defo help. Thanks for the tips

Just tried this and it seems venting shriek has an absolutely tiny field of effect and barely sends them any distance at all. This is going to be “one of those” penances :grimacing: So pointless. Ho hum.

Smelter Complex finale. Once all demonic growths are destroyed you get a very long wave of walkers coming towards you. You have plenty of edges to push them off from.

Huh. It might’ve gotten nerfed since I did it.

The force sword push will come in handy then I suppose. Good luck.

Stand still when venting. Don’t move. For some reason it seems to have bigger range when you stand still.

Venting shriek was how i got it at the time.

For me I did it on the espionage mission in I believe the torrent where you need to cross the large bridge and the data cogitation is in a center room connected by 3 thin bridges. It’s also a good spot for the similar Ogryn penance.

how are people still struggling with this???

its been nerfed to like 7 enemies i think, i can literally do this by mistake about 10% of my games

How do you do it by accident as a psycher? Venting shriek barely staggers them. It does not send them flying. Can only push 1 enemy at a time with force sword.

So… How are you regularly sending 7 off a ledge within 2 seconds as a psycher?

Tips welcome.

Getting the enemies close enough to the ledge, then getting the other side of them, without taking damage, is pretty damn tricky.

Count your blessings, it was 20 originally.

I got it on one of the 3 narrow bridges in the espionage mission finale. Forget what it’s called.
It must have been when I was meleeing/bodyblocking all the walkers on the bridge with the duelling sword. I let myself get sandwitched. Did a few pushes to position them and then pressed F. Managed to get 20 that time.

Keep in mind this was on release and when every single update in the game somehow nerfed Psyker or came with a new Psyker bug.

What did F do? Sorry I remap my keys as I’m a lefty.

I just tried it again on a different level and pushing enemies with a force sword literally knocks them over on the spot unless you’re running toward them. So you have to be running toward them too. This is insane.

Out of curiosity I do wonder if push or vent has been nerfed. The enemies just don’t move. They don’t even go 1m.

Maybe I need to try a weapon that isn’t force sword.

one easy way is to start one of the chasm logistratum missions that has the bridge at the start (basically just not the assassination one). Bring a combat axe or dueling sword or something for decent pushes, force swords work weird. The bridge comes with one part that has a narrow walkway. Just wait there until a horde appears and you can double push them off (the trick is that a followup push sends em further and pushes without stam arent effective)

Oh yeah an axe might be better. I’ll try that in the meat grinder. Everything else I’ve tried has the pushing power of a feather duster.

And yeah I saw someone post how they did it on that bit of logistratum but I can’t get 7 enemies down that narrow bridge close enough to each other to push at same time, and also I keep falling off myself as it’s so narrow :joy:

This is such an annoying penance. As if it has anything to do with skill of the game or teamwork… And on a psycher too. Designer was drunk for this one me thinks.

Dunno if it counts for it but blasting em with a trauma staff might also work, so long as you don’t hit them with a full point blank blast of the center. Might be easier

Will have to try this later. If it counts then damn that’s going to make it much more bearable!

If any of you who’ve already done it happen to be near an edge and horde, as a psycher, any time soon then pls give pushing a go and see if it’s changed. I’m curious to know.

Make sure you have stamina when you push. That was a mistake I made when sprinting around the horde.

Your ability. Using shriek basically.

Force sword push is trash and wonky. That’s why I used the duelling sword. You also have to understand that pushes aren’t always the same. It depends on how much stamina you have. The fuller your stamina bar the stronger the push effect. Enemies also have a certain cooldown before they can be staggered again.

Keep blocking, wait until enough are in front of you and THEN push twice. Preferrably with duelling or an axe, anything that has good push strength basically.

I always run a +3 Stamina on my Psyker/Zealot/Vet for that exact reason.

The push effect of vent has always been weird. As I said it seems way weaker when you do it whilst moving. Stand perfectly still and then use it. Gives it more distance and a stronger push for some reason.

Yes.

Venting shriek does’t put them down?
How high is your perril at the time of shrieking? Afaik it is the higher the peril, the higher the stagger.

What about Trauma Staff? Sends people flying all the time.
Narroe bridges like in that espionage map mentioned above (i think it’s Vigil Station?).

I just checked. Venting shriek still has the enemies being knocked away 2-3 meters flat on their asses. Seems to be working fine to me.
