Chaos spawn strat

Basically, you got to hug chaos spawn and keep dodging to the right.
I know it’s nasty and smells bad, but it might be worth it.

Chaos spawn has 3 types of attacks: flurry, grab and slam.
-Flurry is triggered if you stand in mid range,
-Grab is triggered by cooldown,
-Slam is triggered if you stand in close range.

This is why we want to hug chaos spawn, to bait slam and grab as much as possible, instead of flurry.

Unfortunately, it’s not reliable and not always works as described.
Chaos spawn will occasionally throw flurry, even if you in close range. However, it is possible to block it, if you are fast enough.

Showcase:

If you’re using Marksman’s focus, it is possible to do the same while crouched.
You can actually fight plague ogryn while crouched as well, but you got to stay away as much as possible, instead of hugging him.

Also, consider this glitch, when it just randomly stands there for a second, delaying its next attack.

How to kill a chaos spawn with little to no effort:

Pick an heavy hitter ogryn, spam heavies, dodge grab, dead monster.
Repeat the aforementioned steps when necessary.

You are welcome.

Easy in the psykanium. Not realistic to pull off in game with 5 maulers, 3 crushers and a pox horde with it

I play a shield Bullgryn. I taunt them and make fun of them not being able to put their shoes on, and they just keep trying to hit me while my team shoots them. Easy.

You are not supposed to even touch a boss before all this, or at least elites, are dead.

Great advice Ill try to throw that into rotation.

For me, kiting into open space or backtracking allows for the squad to breath and kite the more threatening units of elites/horde/specials without the CS right next to them.

The general Boss mechanic I usually advise is “see armpits? or wind-up attack” dodge back. Move forward to stop their movement and repeat/rinse. Classic Rat Ogre tactics. If you’re uncomfortable with walking towards the boss, just backpedal and try not to walk off a ledge

Surprised the slam has so little AoE to be honest. What I normally do is just block the flurry and dodge on the final attack to create room and unload into it.

Unless it’s 2 flurry in the row.

The best time to unload, is during grab, in my opinion.
Recovery on this attack seems to be the longest and head is not moving so wild.

The best counter to it is still a door. Shatner Special.

I prupose just killing it in an exciting and fun fight with a chain weapon instead:

Silly Reg! We’ve been over this! Just use a bolter or constantly dodge 1 direction 30+ times!

Learning boss attack patterns is for losers! We don’t do that here!

I tried to do it with my strat, but it feels much more difficult than your approach.
And i am not sure if it even worth it. Because it so difficult to hit head in my strat, even though you can throw more attacks faster.

I believe ryken has a video out just two days ago on how to fight the spawn too. But i think its fun you brought your method to the community.

Saw it just now, it’s basically the same thing as mine, but to the left side.
Not really watching other content makers on darktide, besides you.
I, for some reason, thought it will be able to grab, if you dodge left tho.

It can, you just need to time your dodge, and I believe it has a tighter window.

BTW I just wanted to say I think this is hilarious and I appreciate you doing it.

If someone gets grabbed and you don’t have a stagger on demand ready, you want to go close and dodge away to bait the melee. The grabee doesn’t take damage being swung about and you stop the spawn from chomping on them.

if you have a bolter and voice of command, you can just stun him and aim at his face for a free volley, then you just finish him off with your power sword, or bleed knife also does the job, and save ammo

nice tecnique nontheless

That is what id suggest as well. And use my strat to just reload bolter under pressure.

yeah, i see people posting this all the time and i’ve seen videos on yt but most are in training mode lol in practice, i can 1v1 them but they’re usually not alone during a mission and i don’t have the same amount of space available to me either lol
