Change the zealot krieg skin

What were you guys thinking with this outfit? I don’t know anyone who actually likes these terrible metallic skulls being on every helmet. Just give us a gasmask and combat helmet and be done with it like this skin looks awful. I’ve been waiting since launch for there to finally be krieg skins cause all I want is to run about in a cool gasmask hitting people with a chainsword and I can’t do that because it’s just another skull mask that covers basically all of what makes krieg uniform cool. Every other class has really cool uniform looking cosmetics, even the ogryn manages to put his uniform on neatly. Just give us an actual krieg outfit for zealot because that isn’t it.

Totally agree, pain the skull to the helmet and make the gasmask normal gasmask.

It’s a Death Korps Grenadier mask - so it’s kinda fitting that this is a former close quarters assault specialist who turned into a religious fanatic after breaking his mind in enemy trenches. By the way being considered a religious fanatic by korpsmen is quite s feat I guess.

But yes a grenadier helmet and no candles would have been cool.

The metalic skull mask is simultaneously the best part of the zealot skin for the Kreig set AND actually cannonically how skulls are placed on Kreig sets. You SHOULD know this. Its in the actual kreig model kit.

PAINT the skull on? disgusting. Take your B52 bomber nose art shark teeth away from my model accurate skull cosmetics. This is a ZEALOT. not a SOLDIER.

the thing about this uniform is that it’s not uniform (with the rest of the uniforms)

What you posted looks nothing like the zealot skin though. It looks significantly better and I wish that was what the skin looked like. What we have looks like a giant bean can on top of a gasmask.

One thing about the Zealot skin that was interesting…they used the Grenadier mask…but not the Grenadier chest armor, instead having some shiny medieval plate looking thing. I don’t mind it, but feels like a miss. The mask without a helmet however does look dumb, I only picked up the torso and legs as a result.

Still miles better than the Veteran skin however, that one looks like someone’s faithful recreation of their Comic-Con Krieg cosplay outfit made from random mismatched army surplus bits (with an inability to model webbing or do any QC for clipping), not an actual Krieg trooper.

silence i try make fatshark more money. make granadier helmet with gasmask for zealot quickly

Reading this again and looking at the skin it does look better to me looking at it a bit different.

Grenadier krieg is great… I wish that the zealot mask would look like it, but it doesn’t. Not even close.
For me it looks goofy af

It’s literally the grenadier mask down to the square teeth but bare metal instead of the common painted white.

It’s literally not.

The shape of the eyes is not the same, the shape “nose” is not the same. The shape of the gas mask under it, it’s not the same (it’s too long and pointed to the front).

The sape of the teeth is no the same. It reminds me of this

Thinking a bit more about it…

The Quartermaster (here overseeing an Honourable field execution for an unrecoverable trooper before reclaiming their equipment for the regiment) would have been a neat cosmetic for a Zealot.

Missed opportunities…

It’s extremely minute things that are artistic interpretation and the effect of upscaling to fit an actual human and not the exaggerated GW Heroic Scale that makes models more cartoony and less ‘realistic’

The FS grenadier mask has tooth gaps, gaps implied by how they’re officially painted to have separated squared teeth.

The nose was adjusted to fit an actual nose.

The oculars for the eyes were shrunk instead of the cartoonishly large ones in the models that made the feature more prominent on the tiny miniature at the downside of it… well, half their vision is blocked by their helmets.

If you take a sideshot of those grenadiers and overlay a human body over it (admittedly a bit hard with a Heroic Scale mini) you’d probably notice a similar ‘nose’ effect.

I’ve overlaid the images. The red is the miniature mask, and pink the miniature gasmask. The dark blue is the FS mask, and the light blue the FS gasmask.

Note that the FS mask covers more area because it isn’t blocked by the helmet.

They have a very similar silhouette. The gasmask’s nose effect is on both.

Edit: The only big difference is the lack of the nozzle. But some Krieg miniatures lack that like the marshal’s and the commissar’s gas mask patterns.

It has nothing to do with realistic proportions, it’s just a poor design choice from fatshark.

The shape of the eyes, the shape of the nose and the length (teeth/mouth need to cover the gas mask under) of the metal itself are key elements that fatshark has failed to deliver.
IMO it’s those details what makes it look as what it’s suppossed to be, and so for me it’s not even closer to an actual grenadier mask.

If you like it, enjoy it! On my side, I’m not buying it lol.

Slight note, the FW resin models models are substantially less “Heroic” scale than GW’s plastics. Not exactly Truescale, but much closer than say, plastic Cadians.

With regards to the mask nose, the soldier’s actual nose is covered beneath the gasmask, the Grenadier skull is completely external and decorative, no need to actually accommodate a real nose. The skull mask also should extend entirely to the hose fitting, not terminate at the lips.

Like this cosplay piece

This piece also gets something mostly right in that the eyepieces should sit high and extend under the helmet ridge, not be completely below it, though even this image has them much lower than the original models (such as that externally they appear as half-circles).

In the Fatshark version, the eye pieces are low and oblong, and extend outward almost like goggles or glasses, instead of lying reclined against the face, and recessed relative to the skull facemask.

Most of that would be fine, artistic license is a thing (same way they didn’t put mask hoses on anything), but just slapping it on top of a normal Zealot flapper-mask looks silly enough that I didn’t pick it up. Had it been coupled with an actual Grenadier helmet, that may have looked better.

Still better than the Veteran cosmetic either way.

They do actually need to fix it cause you can see the candles in first person on the right.

@Molonious

That cosplay admittedly seems a little bit cartoonish to me, with the mask itself awkwardly far forward from the face, but eh.

Regardless we could have gotten a lot worse:
