Yeah, the shop should come back. I’m not going to touch it since the game is not in a state that I want to support, but a cash shop for cosmetics is find.
I don’t like the funny money. VT2 had a perfect cash shop and I did buy things there (not frequently, but I did). I also bought DLC and new classes because I wanted to support the game.
To me the reasons not to have a shop are gone. You can now buy things for what they cost… good. There is a rotation. There is no excuse for this. At all times everything should be available to buy… but fine.
Anyway, I’m not personally touching the store, but I don’t mind if it comes back at this point.
I like my Armageddon uniform. I‘d propably also buy a Krieg uniform if ever released.
I’m dying for that heavy Cadian armour-set here. It’s driving me crazy that I’m RPing as a purple-eyed Son of Cadia with my Veteran and there are no available Cadian cosmetics.
This uniform also has a variant with the armor parts all being maroon red, whiled the cloth underneath remains green.
I really really want some new clothes. So many cool looks in the WH40K universe.

Don’t want to pay for cosmetics? noone forces you… Don’t buy them.
You can think what you want, but you know that they will need this money and that it was their business plan.
So you perfectly know, or you should, that you won’t get these items free.
Now, people that like cosmetics want them to bring us new cosmestics.
I must say that they should:
organize the shop to allow to find items easily
check the prices… not normal that you can buy a pack 2400 and that it cost 4200 if you take item by item… also, if you want to buy the pack, but have one item you have already bough, the game will ask you the full price… that’s not normal
They should look at these points… and release the new cosmetics…
This isn’t the issue I’m describing. I don’t mind if they monetize some outfits. My problem is they’ve monetized all the cosmetics outside the 1 set of penance kits, and their terrible blue variations. Yes, I don’t have to buy them. But I would like to earn something other than the 1 single line of cosmetics and so far you just can’t do that.
Do they? In VT2 they distributed quite a few cosmetics that were attached to achievements, on top of the paid ones. Alongside the additional free maps & game modes that they offered in that as well. What makes Darktide so special that they have to squeeze every penny out of players for every single item? Where we have to spend $5 to have a dirty headband, or pay 1/4 of the cost of the entire game you already paid for for an outfit? Why is an outfit in this game 3x the cost of an entire class in VT2? In VT2, a full outfit is $8.50. Why is it 40% more expensive here? These are F2P prices and are highly extortive of players. That’s why I have an issue - they went from a fair content system in VT2 to an extortive one here.
Honestly they need to ditch the 2ndary cosmetics and make them earnable, and adjust the prices to match VT2 ones then I wouldn’t have a problem. But y’all telling me to “just ignore it if you don’t like it” means you’re endorsing exploitation of players and enabling greedy practices that do nothing but harm the consumer.
A different problem. There is no interest to not release the new cosmetics regarding what you want… The cosmetics are ready and nothing can permit to say they plan to release more free of money cosmetics.

We clearly ask that they release paying cosmetics, the ones in the shop.
When you say that the “shop is destructive to the game” you clearly say you’re against paid cosmetics. However, as I said, you know there will be paid cosmetics, no reason that we wait that you get what you want, especially cause nothing is, at this moment, planned about free cosmetics (no announcement).
So, open a topic about that… cause you’re clearly off topic here.

Seriously, though, that sounds quite snazzy, and reminds me of the classic Stormtrooper battle gear (only somewhat reversed in colour):
(really like this guy’s boots in particular; so much nicer than the goofy looking “boots-over-puttees” model that so many of the Veteran’s lower-body cosmetics are currently stuck with)
It’s nothing else what arw those penances herw. A lot have been colored reskins aswell. Wepons had atleast a skin on reds, but the violet glow was bound to DLC’s aswell.
The most and especially good stuff was and still is like 10+ bucks.
Pretty much everything but chaos wastes and treachery is DLC content. So what’s the difference to the time before chaos wastes? The ingame-shop… other poeple paid that stuff for you.
Also new classes or weapons are all DLC based aswell, so your comparison lacks.
While i atleast agree that the single-pieces prices are too high in DT, V2 isn’t that less expensive in general.
I remember poeple talking about thos 2,5-5$ hats aswell… the most older stuff is just on discount and maybe even got decreased in general to get more sells.
Also DT has more costs due to servers and there is no chance to let the players pay for DLC’s, unless we talk about new classes / weapons. But new maps or gamemodes would split the playerbase too hard and wouldn’t work with the current systems. It’s possible… but wouldn’t be healthy for the game.
Such takes are nonsense as always.
The reason why so many games rely on cosmetic stores is coming from the consumer itself.
Games didn’t got much expensive within a lot of years, a lot are even cheaper than they should be (or F2P) to allow as much players possible to play them, while the costs do develop them increased immensively.
Also dozens of poeple of live-service games have also been “I don’t wanna pay a sub…”. So the companies searched for sone fair possibilities to keep the games running. And DT falls under that category. There is no P2W or any other stupid business practice, which also only exist because dozens of players wasted their money just “to be the best” or “to support the game” for years.
TLDR: The shop is ok. It just needs adjustments as @Ralendil mentioned about the single-piece prices and sets if you already own a piece.

There is a mod that permit to get the bots with a stormtrooper cosmetics. As I have it… check their helmet…

Interesting…it’s not just a palette swap; the vambraces have been removed and there’s maille hanging over the thighs (although I guess that might be from the lower body cosmetic?)
