Anything worth talking about anymore?

Pretty much summed up what made me start this thread completely.

The core player base has beaten the horse to death multiple times. There’s a clear consensus of what players want from the game, but it’s also clear that Fatshark doesn’t really care all that much about working with the community or changing their view of what the game should be.

The whales will stick around for a while and Fatshark will milk them, but most people are gonna move on. I’d be happy to be patient, but it’s hard to be optimistic when the developer hasn’t shown much willingness to change anything. This year is packed with some potentially great games, and they probably won’t disrespect my time.

I feel like changes to the base hammer aren’t really out of the question, but I expect they won’t add “cleave on charge” to it. Probably new hammer will have a “power output” stat too or be different in some other way (like lower damage).

Still, I think it’s too early to go for “it’s bad”, and it’s clearly born from player feedback. I’m personally looking forward to it (with pretty “tempered” expectations).

I’m looking forward to the next set of VT2 cosmetics that I’ll buy and never put on to demonstrate what I care about.

Kinda lost me with Premium cosmetics for classes that were sold separately and had a surcharge for cosmetics that were lazy. Honestly the sad state of GK cosmetics they charged for should warrant those being free. Or WP’s only 2 alts.

Specials jank is still a thing.

Trappers can shoot through tiny gaps and in some cases solid objects.
Mutants can still turn on a dime to avoid obstacles.
Pushing poxwalkers and hounds is still unreliable.
Server delay usually means that specials can get their ability off even you hit them with what should be a staggering hit (looking at you, flamers and trappers).
Snipers can shoot from their inactive state without the targeting laser active.
Hounds spaz out on anything changing the path to their target. Mutants too, if you climb on something the mutant circles you like a shark.
Hounds still go into space.
Beasts of Nurgle on stairs or ramps look really weird from behind and the sides.
Poxbursters spawning in doors are completely silent.
Specials can wind up their attacks while in doors and spawn areas.
Specials can refresh their abilities in doors.

I mean that’s pretty reasonable, VT2 had been out for like five years by the time WoM dropped and was always meant to be an alternate game mode. Of course FS wouldn’t replace systems that had been in place for that long with something that ended up flopping pretty hard compared to Chaos Wastes. iirc it was and still is a pretty niche gamemode, along with the Athanor system, but I never really liked that DLC much in the first place so I can’t say for sure.

To contrast, DT isn’t even five months old and the community has pretty unanimously rejected the systems in place since day 1. Granted, I still don’t have any reason beyond copium to believe that they would actually gut these problem systems and replace them with something else, but it’s a lot more likely to happen here than it was in VT2 when WoM came out.

Less than 1,5 years from VT2 release to WoM. FS supposedly reworked crafting twice already. The last re-work ended up pretty close to what they presented in December.

Personally, I doubt that they would take that route, even if they had some will to do so and spent the reaources to get it done over the next six months.

Tl:dr; if they change their mind about crafting, they’ll ve too late on the ball to implement any radical changes.

When I’m trying to clutch and hide from a Trapper around a corner and get netted anyways it really ruins the experience.

The weakness of their audio cues is still killing me more than anything else.

This is it. This is how the game will be with maybe some pretty sprinkled on. There will be no fundamental change to the systems we’ve seen this before. Possibly FS might have an entirely different system of crafting bolted on somewhere but the fundamental basics of the game will remain a loadingstar gatcha crafting.

I think it was @alsozara called me out for losing my sh-t over nothing that I realised I was getting myself worked up about what might-have-been, should-have-been whatever, and it was utterly pointless.

The game is a stinking turd. They’ll roll it in some glitter but at it’s core it’s crap and it might maybe become merely adequate given time.

So there’s nothing to talk about as experience shows FS don’t actually fundamentally address deep seated issues with their games, they just try and paper over the cracks.

OP is right.
