It does not bode very well indeed to the longevity of their business practice adding this to the poor taste of vt,vt2 amd now darktide promises that were broken.
Seems to me a trail of broken hearts. You were the chosen one Fatshark…. but you failed us.
Whoever is leading the company or the team needs to take responsibility and own up to the mistakes and do better NOT worse in the eyes of the community and their customers. I had very high expectation pre-launch. Now I am skeptical of the future of the game, especially the teasing announcement of DLC, when the game is in this state and starved of content/crafting system/weapons and filled with MTX (awful).
Yes, it was funny. The first major positive (since release) rework of a significant part of the gameplay, and immediately the Fatsharks threw mud at themselves.
That it’s a milk cow I would consider a good thing. I’d much rather they make their money from cosmetics than paid DLC (even though I gladly buy paid DLC) but I’m not the intended demographic here. I don’t buy cosmetics for the skins, I buy them because I want to support the company and throw them a few extra dollars for a game that I play a lot. When I do I will of course try to find something that I think looks nice. This store I don’t use because I can’t see everything they have for sale at all times (it’s not FOMO for me, it’s just that I won’t buy anything if I can’t see all my options) and the fact that they have to go via funny money. I also won’t support this game any more until the in-between mission gameplay is fixed.
I just don’t see what they should have done to be more proactive? Give us Aquillas? I could not care less personally, but I haven’t used mine from the imperial edition either. There are so many things that need fixing in the game for all players (console and PC) that I consider much more important than cosmetics. I don’t consider it a massive betrayal (because I just can’t bring myself to care) and maybe there are more people like me, or maybe this will actually cause such an uproar that FS has to backtrack. Time will tell.
Am I missing something? Are people upset because they threw a bone to new players while also not throwing the same bone to old ones? Should they refund us money as well when people buy the game on sale? There must be something more here than a few thousand Aquillas for the console players.
14k aquilas equals 60€ its a bit different from
few thousand. Its the principle, if you fail to see the reasoning that I explained above. I can only say that you are selling yourself way too short.
Secondly, DLC is already in the works, so they lied about paid cosmetics replacing paid / dlc. And the reasoning they introduced.
Yeah, there were premium sets but these were the minority and the price for those was lower than in DT. I mean I am fine paying for 5€ per set if there are only some but commercializibh the entire cosmetic system and the gatekeeping penances to force us to buy stuff is really more like some scam than business practice.
I wonder what happened with this issue… the longer it takes for FS to come up with a proper solution the more I feel we are about to be vastly disappointed
xbox doesn’t have official forums, but that doesn’t mean people don’t go to forums about xbox. and that is kinda a problem for them as they become more spread within their own console. which could be worse as these unofficial forums won’t have company reps to help
Still, it’s funny money, and not money that FS will ever see or money that many will spend to buy Aquillas in the first place. With that said, they could give money to the rest of us as well, I don’t see why they should and I don’t care. Life isn’t fair. We knew the deal we got when we signed up and we, at that point, either decided it was worth it or not. The deals they strike to rope in new players is not relevant to us. You always pay more to be an early adopter.
I don’t recall them ever saying this, but even if they did they need to keep the lights on and my own preferred way of doing this is paid DLC. If they somehow manage with cosmetics then I suppose that’s good, but if not, I don’t mind shelling out extra cash for DLC for games that I like.
… but I will not be buying either cosmetics nor DLC until crafting is fixed.
Well, I see there is no reasoning with you. I assume you like being scammed as well?
People paid for the aquilas and now FS gave it to ppl for free? I do not intent to continue arguing with you. ”Life is not X” quotes only illustrate that there is no argument here.
Its the poor business practices and the way these things are conducted in the first place.
See the initial discussions on MTX prelaunch (steam and here) i am not spoon feeding you.
I do not mind paying for more content but for monopoly money yes. The cosmetics should be included in a 60€ game that most of us here preordered. Period.
The “It’s not real money” argument is silly.
It’s how they make their secondary income from this game. Even if it’s converted, giving 60 bucks worth of currency away to everyone is 60 they won’t earn.
It may “cost nothing to produce”, but then it still satiates the need and thus incentivizes not buying.
If you are hungry and someone has a pool of infinite bananas from which is he selling, even if the banana costs him nothing, giving you the banana for free means you don’t buy another one for the moment because your hunger is now sated. Same principle.
Not saying I’m against them giving us an equal value to the Xbox guys, I’m very much for that. But just saying how that logic doesn’t work.
Technically speaking they’re still within their own set time window. But next week there ought to be a response, otherwise the two weeks have come and gone.
So this would include the store in V2? I think that one is pretty good. Paid cosmetics are not bad by default, but the way they are implemented here is terrible.
All I said was that it was not a one-to-one thing, just like I bought the Imperial Edition but never used the Aquillas because I can’t stand the shop as it is implemented now.
To me giving away money to new backers is the same as having a sale. Buy one get some extra stuff for free. I cannot see why people are upset about this. If you buy a game at the autumn sale you cannot also expect that they partially reimburse everyone who bought it at launch.
I can see that people are upset at how the store is implemented now with funny-money and FOMO practices. I think the current store is trash and I won’t use it, but I think it’s another discussion entirely.
I don’t foresee this decision to drive many people away. They will probably earn more players than they lose. The crafting system and the current cash shop on the other hand… that system is living on borrowed time.
It will drive away a small portion of otherwise loyal players, and the players they gain already have free funny-money so they have no need to buy more to continue supporting them.
You can argue the decision to give this funny-money to Microsoft customers is getting them more players, but a lot of those customers didn’t understand and still don’t understand that the free funny-money was different from purchasing the game on Steam.
I highly doubt the free currency was the driving factor for the majority of purchases, the game being finally available is what drove those customers to buy it.
So, to be fair and honest, we’re comparing the established players that will leave (small) as well as established players that will not spend more (also small) to whatever amount of Microsoft customers purchased exclusively because the Xbox/MS Store gave extra funny-money. Maybe that number of Xbox customers outweighs the established players mentioned before, I honestly don’t know.
