I explained why I feel slinging slurs and using mods aren’t comparable in any way other than that the mechanism for reporting them today (right now, even!) is identical. Beyond that, I really don’t know what you’re trying to say or argue. I can’t put my finger on it, but it feels wrong to me to bring something as offensive and disgusting as racism into an argument about if a bit of code is a bit too cheesy or not.

We’re not actually talking past eachother, you’re ignoring my point repeatedly. I don’t care if someone cheats in a game I’m not in. I’m telling you it’s the exact same as racism or other abusive behavior in game: It only gets actioned if it gets reported.

Putting aside the directness of racist hate-spewing vs. the indirectness of being able to see mobs through a wall (hellooooo ExStance!) or even the intent of the two, I am disgusted by racism and abusive behavior in ANYone’s games. But moving on…

The modding policy actually doesn’t include that language. Quite deliberately, in my opinion. You can do your side of the argument and say I can’t do mine, and that’s fine.

but there are other mods that are way more impactful. For example, using the disconnect mod, my allies can resurrect themselves within roughly 10-30 seconds. You COULD alt+f4 to achieve it but that involves a complete cycle of going through the crash window, restarting, reconnecting, all that, but obviously this mod makes it real easy.

As I’ve mentioned multiple times in this thread, I think the underlying issue here (just like with quell cancelling) needs to be addressed by FS. Mod or not, I think it’s cheating and it makes me feel bad when I see it in my games.

Know what I don’t see (as in can actually detect) in my games? Anyone using Spidey Sense, or Full Auto, or Keep Swinging, or normal non-abusive macros, or on and on and on.

All they have to say is actually respond to the question when asked, and say “No, if someone uses this mod in your game we won’t action it” or “Yes, if someone uses this mod in your game we will action it”. It doesn’t have to be any deeper than this.

So the definitive answer is that no we won’t have a strong opinion on this mod. Wether you consider it cheating or not wall hacks and other implementations are readily available outside of mods and we don’t act on those either. Doing so would mean implementing anti cheat and we right now deem anti cheat implementations to be too limiting for the modding community and since darktide isnt a competitive game there are no real upsides to anti cheat.
Sure some might claim unfair advantage but really you are benefiting your whole crew so who cares really… And if you are playing Darktide for the bragging points you would still be at the mercy of the communitys opinion of the mod and not ours(Fatshark).

The answer is: “we don’t act on” these mods. And the reasons are right there: they aren’t that big of a deal and gaining any actual control would mean ruining modding. Why is this not sufficient for you?

Continue to report people you see abusing any and all quirks to trivialize the game or annoy/abuse others (with mods or macros or whatever).
