Another spam macro cheating

recently, i’ve seen some psykers rapidly spam their primary attack with a staff (like a lazerbeam). the cause seems to be this specific macro. the devs claim they’re “injured their hands” as an excuse, but it’s just a ridiculous lie - this mod allows for clicking left mouse button and special action at speeds impossible for a human. this isn’t about accessibility or anything like that; it’s cheating. i repeat, it’s cheating. should be flagged for this.
if there were macros that automate clicks to protect fingers at speeds within human capability, that would be welcome. but this is not acceptable. because of these psykers using the macro, i’ve wasted several matches.

Yet another one of these threads. Big yawn.

I use a macro on my mouse to spam mouse1 so I don’t break my fingers spamming light melee attacks. Is this cheating too? Where do you draw the line? Yes, these macros perform tasks that are humanly impossible, but maybe the fix should be preventing the humanly impossible tricks from happening in the first place rather than punishing those who use said tricks.

pretty sure the surge macro got tweeked or patched or something I have yet to see anything as bad as psyker rework release week

didn’t full auto mod already cover this?, what are the differences?

Full Auto just shoots as soon as it can, this macro set includes macros for quell canceling staff M1s and knife/dueling sword heavy melees.

this is what OP is referring to.

this however no longer works in game. ive heard psykers mention this and i have not seen it since the patchs release. i am pretty sure they added some forced delay that the mod cant avoid.
video is in auric damnation btw lmao

the line is whether it can be executed at an attack speed that is impossible for humans. this mod clearly aims to enable primary attacks to be spammed at a speed that is not possible during normal play.

yeah I agree with this for example quell cancelling a purge i can relatively do it correctly for a few puffs then i mess up the rhythm i think a mod that helps me do it as well as a player with better mechanical skill or lower latency is fine but no faster.

why can’t everyone just play normally? I think there’s a moral issue with players who can use this mod so casually.

where do you draw the line? i need glasses to see some dont, should i forgo them to make things fair? i think using tech or mods to bring everyone to a similar level, or correct accessibility issues in game is perfectly fine.

Macros will never and can never be policed by FS.

In instances where there’s tech that steps into being OP, like the quell cancel on staves (which I hope is, or will be, fixed/toned down), FS needs to step in to address it in the game.

I hope FS do change staves to tone down quell cancelling. I won’t use a macro to do anything I can’t and I like my mouse (and hand) too much to do this manually.

I was chatting separately to Ralendil about aspects of this after that … other conversation.

I reckon it’d help if an official “Keep Swinging” bind was introduced to the game. Something you can legitimately bind on a spare mouse button or key and it’ll repeat lights for you. That must be on a common wishlist?

I’m on my second mouse for Darktide, and goodness knows what XBOXers do when faced with a horde!?

The only way to fix quell cancel exploiting or stuff like QQing to reliably dish out the same weapon attack pattern, is by adding cooldowns, timers, or ramp up curves for peril quelling etc.

It’s a simple solution that can verge strongly into heavy nerf territory for regular users. Given FS’s heavy handed way and lack of subtlety, it’s understandable why they would refrain from such ‘fixes’.
The amount of butthurt they’d cause would be catastrophic. Hence the tolerance for such things I assume. Not worth the effort and risk from their pov.

If you’ve downloaded it and seen that this is the case then maybe I will believe this.

Tbh this is such an innocent seeming “mod” that appears to just be a collection of Synapse macros that anyone could make on their own.

It seems like you’re really picking on grandma here! :older_woman:

Yeah, I had that experience. I assumed the guy combined some of those new staff talents with Mettle and Surge blessing. He was zooming forward silly fast and kept getting himself downed in the process. A macro would explain part of it, but I dont think you even need mods for this, a lot of mice and keyboards enable macros.

A mod that clicks for you. Reminds me of the gachas that have autobattle on. Game just plays itself. I doubt I’d ever feel right using stuff like this(like it physically wouldn’t feel right not clicking, don’t care about the morality) I NEED my physical feedback. Clickclickclick

thanks for answering, i just wasn’t aware quell canceling was a thing, i’ve always played this game normally without getting into all the glitches you can exploit

This is not totally true…

But the alternative is Easy anti cheat system, the end of the mods, a lot less players (33% at minimum but how much cannot be determinated) and surely a game endangered.

But let’s continue to find reasons for players to quit the game, and new players to not find what could make them love the game by addressing something that push them to click uninstall.

Really the best attitude.

Darktide has now 6000 players. So 1k more than before the last update.
Do you really think that we should try to lower the number of players? Really, this is YOUR top priority to try to push players to stop the game?

It does nothing my mouse cant do already.
The psyker bug (which you could do without macros, just bind quell and attack on same button) is no longer working.
