Please excuse my ignorance but what do you mean by red weapon?
All we need is one simple change: remove the crafting locks. There, itemization is fixed.
P.S.: Your news site is still broken:
https://www.playdarktide.com/news

Red weapons were the next tier of rarity after oranges in 'tide game. They have been implemented differently for each game.
Vermintide: Red weapons had the same stats as orange weapons, but had preset traits (equivalent to blessings in Darktide) in combinations that you could not roll on oranges. They also usually had higher values. They also had a unique skin.
Vermintide 2: Red weapons were always max power (300) but had the same stats as orange weapons. They would always roll the maximum value for traits (equivalent to perks in Darktide). Found ones also had a unique skin that crafted ones lack.
For Darktide, there are any number of things they can do, but I feel that making them explicitly more powerful than orange weapons would be a mistake.
Nah that would just make it significantly more tolerable, you still wouldnât be terribly happy to engage with it. Iâm happy for FS to aim a bit higher than that even if it takes a while.
We have itemization already, so the promise of âItemizationâ is very vague, and I suspect intentionally so.
Cambridge Dictionary definition: âThe act of listing things separately, often including details about each thing, or an example of this.â
We can already see our inventory as a list of separate items with details about said items displayed in turn. While this system is actually pretty horrible to navigate and do comparisons, I assume the actual product change being touted is likely to be Item Crafting changes, and/or Item Acquisition changes?
Ass U Me.
ALL your community asked for are either 2 things, for 19 months
- Remove locks = people KNOW that when they roll a high end weapon base they WILL get that weapon to its maximum potentiaL
- Add ability to maximize stats using diamantine so we make our own high end weapon base
IF the locks are not a change from =1 to =0 then you failed in coding, hard.
Keeping the locks for another ~4 months (as we both know this wont hit sooner than in mid october) is just a clown icing on the clown cake that is darktide.
If we are already under NDA with Fatshark can we take part in the testing for the itemization?
Would be super interested, love this game and want to help out.
TL;DR: Honestly? Their own problem IMHO.
Long version: crafting system isnât 100% perfect and I know that. Wonât be denying it. Still, they improved it over the almost genuinely god awful method they started with. Again, itâs not perfect but neither is a bummer like some of you are saying. Come on, give em a break and enjoy DT, it really deserves our praise and crafting like itâs now is nothing to be wrathful about
You know that you wonât get a lock removal, donât you?
especially cause it is not a solution to break entirely a system to fix one point.
And also, I doubt they work on this 3 months to just remove the locksâŚ
I wonât discuss about that⌠you (users of this forum) know my point of view. And it can be summarized by, lock removal is not a solution.
It would even been better to remove any difference between weapons and make them generic and that you could choose freely blessings and perks. Lock removal is really the worst choice they could make.
itemization is slated to release after summer
Sooo, what is gonna be? You guys just scrapped all the work done this last week, or you all had nothing done, and were just stringing us along?
Honestly, I would be mad, but this is par for the course for you, underdeliver even when the bar is on the ground. I am convinced that the information that DT has the biggest team working on it, is either a blatant lie (or maybe no longer true?) or is a very complex stretching from the truth
Yes.
Only removing the locks is not the solution.
But it would be an extremely easy bandaid to implement that would calm a huge part of the playerbase and show some goodwill until the final rework gets launched.
A bandaid that shouldâve been given after the backlash theyâve got because of the locks in the first place.
It would⌠but do you really think it is acceptable after 1 year and half of discussion about this topic, an announcement made 1 month earlier, and so, at the very least, 4 months of work on this? I would really think they would be totally dumb if their itemization update would be a simple⌠lock removal.
I would admit that, here, I would consider them as clowns
Iâd certainly be happy with lock removal. Most games have some RNG/grind and I like being excited when I find a good item. What hurts is losing progress, losing that time invested, when Hadron bricks my shiny gun.
Iâve seen this at my work. When users are upset by one major defect and that defect is not fixed quickly, the users will then start to complain about the smaller âissuesâ as well.
Which leads on to my fears. The crafting system does not need to be replaced with something even more complex if a simple fix is right there. Worse, what if FS decide to address the spinoff complaints rather than the core issue? Iâll be disappointed if they make the blessing grind I already completed shorter but let Hadron carry on wrecking godrolls.
In no particular order, this is really what the community wants:
- New Class
- Increased Level Cap
- New Talents with the levels
- NO PENANCE STUFF, PLEASE. Stop wasting your time on this.
- New Maps
- New Fun Weapons
- Itemisation is important too, but I couldnât care less about it. Having it easier to get a certain spec/loadout is definitely nice though for those that are new. You already have some easy changes that would fix this (i.e. remove locking, or allow someone to ârerollâ up to x times, which is a random pool, much like the D4 tempering system).
- NO PENANCE STUFF, PLEASE. Stop wasting your time on this.
Unfortunately, while I do love Darktide and its combat, the content drought is real. Iâm personally looking forward to Space Marines 2, so unless something spectacular happens before then, itâs likely that Iâll be stopping with Darktide all-together.
Not agree:
- Increased Level Cap => i hate leveling, this is just a waste of time for me
- New Talents with the levels => I hate what is behind a wall of EXP points
Agree:
- New Class => would say new classes
- New Maps
- New Fun Weapons => a system of weapon customization would be great⌠but at least I want new weapons and that they release (if they keep the bad system of variant) all variants for each weapon
About Itemisation
I think it is an important problem, but, at contrary of all others that focus on locks, for me it is not the problem.
Brunt is my problem. Getting plasteel is the problem of a casual player.
This game needs to be opened to casual playersâŚ
I want to see ability to have 1 extra talent point that could be use without need of unlocked nodes nearby. My scryer will be happy)
Fatshark got nothing.
I would bet that theyâre still in the conceptual planning stages of the itemization update, if theyâre even that far in. Weâre all just being gaslit at the prospect of content where there is none.
Thereâll be more delays as well, as per usual.
I havenât played in a year, and the only reason I follow the news is because itâs hilarious.
You know, after this news, I was actually even happy. They read and provided information in advance. Wow, this is cool. Giving news in advance is progress. Itâs really cool, keep it up, this game can really thrive.
yeah idk Itâs good they acctualy says things in advance.
Hope that dev blog will acctualy go in to how the system will work and not only lose talk about consepts.
Lose talk about consepts can be good as hyping material but not when the state of comunication is on this level and when everyone want to know whats happening.
Donât know how the crafting update will look but hope itâs gonna be engaging and meningfull
Not just time wasted to rip the âred dropsâ from V2.
Be better and learn from your past
I wouldnât minde the red drops if it was in the game from the start but adding that now is just lazy and would just get another layer of 0,000001% chance of RNG drops
And you canât break down materials so getting stuff is just more RNG pointless grind upon grind.
