After the update-news how do you think the crafting patch will be?

Ok so, we will have an overhaul of the system to give us a way to achieve the stats and blessings we want on weapons. If I understand correctly, “to progress toward specific loadouts, blessings, and stats refinement”

It does sound like it.
Howerver, as others have pointed out, FS have said something quite similar before the game was even released.
You know what they actually delivered.

They delivered the polar opposite of what they announced, and got quite clear feedback for about a year now…
If they still fumble the ball with the crafting rework, it would be absolutely pathetic.

It’s painful to read.

Who knows what FatShark will produce at the end of the day. I don’t think the patch itself will change much in the short term. It’s just a step that will decide whether the game has a future or not. At the end of the day, the two main announcements FatShark has made are QoL updates, so the Penances and Crafti… the Itemization Process (this wording doesn’t make me optimistic to be honest). Certainly 2 important steps, but on their own and without real gameplay content, which was somehow mentioned in passing, hardly relevant. I honestly don’t expect much from it either. It will probably be ok-ish, considering the pressure on FatShark, with a lot of room for improvement, cause or reintroduce some bugs and then take forever to fix them (if at all) before something new comes along. So basically the same as always.

In which world is Darktide a survival shooter? Apart from the fact that you should avoid dying (which isn’t even definitively possible, as you respawn again and again), which in principle applies to almost every game in which you control a character, this game has absolutely zero survival elements (hunger, thirst, state of health, shelter, etc.). Or what characterizes this genre?

Awesome,

But its still up to speculation, i guess. still looking forward to it.

I’m honestly hoping for a complete itemization system overhaul. I’ve come to really dislike weapon stats because of how pointless they are. The actual only decisionmaking involved with weapon stats is “will I settle on this suboptimal stat distro?” because every single weapon has a clear stat that can be dumped and that you will want to dump. I would not miss it at all if they just made it like VT2: maxed out power level? Weapon is maxed. Period.

As for perks, I was never a fan of % damage to X stuff, but I think it works alright in this game. Blessings would be cool if they were 100% deterministic and you didn’t have to worry about locks and bricking.

I think anything less than this will disappoint me. I don’t care about having one less lock, or having a slightly easier way to get weapons. If they go in those directions I don’t think it fixes anything.

With any luck, they’ll just merge the two crafting materials into one, and let us spend that to increase stats and freely swap around perks/blessings.

Will probably be something worse than just removing the locks and take them months of work instead of minutes.

yall are funny

Just completely get rid of the RNG BS and actually reward us.

Crafting materials collected during the run.
All weapons start off with the same basic stat and you upgrade them as you see fit.
Perks and Blessing once collected, open for all characters and weapons
Breaking down legendary weapons etc to get legendary resources and so forth.

The harder the level, the higher level resource/weapon you are guaranteed.

I have a couple of guesses:
-Removing the locks: This is probabbly the easiest way honestly, I’m not a coder or dev but it’s like changing a 2 to a 4 (more or less).
-They add options at the shop, raising the cost as you increase/change the stats/blessings
-Red weapons: Inspecting a stat show us the up to 100% value which means it was at least some point of development in the game, I’m guessing those can achieve that? About how to earn them…well…this is where the grind supposed/should be instead of the slot machine resource sink. Books? Or mabye huge resource costs? Who knows. I’d be all for giving books a value/meaning again.

just to say, what is more efficient is not equally more fun.
A lot of Fun builds work, but are not most efficient!

min-maxing is an aproach of tbf lots of gamers, but gamers gaming systems and players play games.
People who have a more playfull aproach dont suffer from these “problems” and look for fun first and for efficency later.

HD2 has a highly sarcastic humor, that can also be called toxic humor. It depends if it is your sort of humor or not. It was never mine and i was never into Starship Troopers that much, except i had drunk a lot and got more familiar with sarcasm and toxic humor. I dont dislike sarcasm completely, but it needs to be intelligent like Monthy Python maybe. Starship Troopers or HD2 humor is more flat and has the quality of exposing others, being “funny” on the cost of others. - edit: for me it is - i’m fine if you like it!
Well thats me and i dont evaluate about others kind of humor.
I know i’m in a minority and that lots of people like sarcasm and that sort of humor.
I just dont and i tried HD2 two times and wanted to get the humor and fun gamplay, but i have to say sorry, not my thing, not grafically, not my humor, i really dislike 3rd person and the movement and controlls in general.
Havent played DT for some weeks, but still here with 900+ hours having fun from time to time.

would be nice if the locks get patched out.

Just curious, in what ways do you find the in-game content/humor toxic or at the cost of others? Some of it’s supposed to be uncomfortable (the ironically thin publicly-friendly veil cast over an obviously authoritarian regime engaged in a bloody meat-grinder war), but aside from that for my own part I’ve never seen anything the game came up with that called players out or made fun of anyone that I can recall so I’m curious where that perception is coming from?

Nothing fun about about grinding for 1.6 million Ordo Dockets, to then spend it all one weapon from brunts, just to try and get one that is half decent with the perks and blessings you want.

What that is, is taking gamers for mugs and taking the p*** out of them.

I honestly don’t care for min max gamers, what I care about is that when I spend my money on a game, I don’t expect the developers to treat me as if I am scum, so they can fill their subscription quota’s or push bs agendas.

nobody’s making you grind. you don’t gotta do that. you can play auric with greys and still do fine.

Yes, but I would say there is an important caveat to this, at least for me.

Something doesn’t have to be the most optimal, but it still has to be somewhat effective.

I’m not going to spend 3 minutes paddling a horde around if a weapon/or build sucks, no matter how fun it might be.

This is where stuff like BPs, can help determine not what the mkst efficient is, but what to avoid lol.
