I gave you a bunch of reasons even including things I have personally gotten heaps of value out of in previous Tide games.
Your response was to mostly hand wave these benefits with what was basically just “get some friends lol”. Nobody will be able to explain this to you because you fundamentally refuse to engage with a perspective different to yours, where somebody could have more fun in a game like this alone than in a group at least some of the time. You seem morally married to the idea this game must be social and that is for the greater good or some similar bizarre nonsense.
You’ve also had it pointed out how trivial what we’re asking of FS is to significantly improve a lot of peoples’ experience. Again you’ve ignored this and acted as some kind of arbiter of whether the 15 minutes required by FS to allow single player private lobbies is “well spent” enough.
I don’t think you’re capable of acting in good faith in this thread due to whatever bias obligates you to vehemently oppose this reasonable request by whatever means you can. By all means though continue helping to keep this thread alive. Increases the chance of it being seen and heard
First of all, the message you’re replying to was not aimed at you. Second, I did not find your reasons very convincing either, that much is true, but at least you gave us some meaningful reasons. Though, I believe some of your concerns are valid, imo could be solved better way, e.g. improved testing ground.
And lastly, you don’t need to convince me but Fatshark. Me not being interested in solo mod is simply honest statement. I’m not against it. So far I simply haven’t found good enough reason to root for it and would prefer team to focus on other problems or content that I actually care about.
To which I pointed out why I hate that question because it completely invalidates the feelings of people who want solo mode by acting like “it’s a coop game so it shouldn’t have solo mode.” so I apologize for not answering your question directly.
For why I, personally, want solo mode:
It’s more fun to play with bots or duo with my friend than play with Randoms. I’ve tried PUGS in these games multiple times and always has a worse experience than when I’m just solo.
my friend isn’t always available, so if I want to play without him I don’t have an option that makes the game fun for me aside from solo mode, which Fatshark refuses to acknowledge.
Other reasons I’ve seen echoed in the many, many threads on the topic:
as a promised feature it should be added to the game.
its standard for the genre.
it allows people to take their time and explore the map/play at their own pace with no pressure.
it allows players to learn the game with no pressure from Randoms
it allows players to try new builds with no worries about impacting other players.
it allows players to become more comfortable with map layouts (ties in with learning the game)
So there are valid reasons that solo mode is a good addition to the game and should be added.
exactly, which is why it will never be added, i mean, fatshark can’t have a game be TOO fun, i mean, that would just ruin the point of games! what do you mean they’re supposed to be fun? no they aren’t, they’re meant to be a cash grab that companies can use to weaken the will of the masses and make people fight less because they settle for what they can get!
I just leave the discussion with the statement that I don’t share your problems. I would advice you to don’t take things too seriously. If you learn to be more compassion with other players and stop blaming them for every fail, you might as well lower expectations on yourself and rid yourself of all those problems. Who says failing the mission can’t be fun?!
Also have you guys even considered that Darktide might not be the game for you?
Running after a rabbit that run far away, don’t wait and finish by dying lamentably is not fun.
Especially when 2 other players try to follow him and so, at final we have 4 players totally splited.
Worst is that it is usually the rusher that will say others “noob!” and similar complains.
No seriously… when you meet such players, you want to take a break and playing a solo game is good. And even if you die in the process (soloing a damnation game is hard honestly).
@FatsharkStrawHat people want solo mode, it won’t be hard to change a number for the private games, please forward this to development and try to have it fixed.
Dude’s clearly a troll if his response to ‘here’s a concise and clear reason we should have solo mode’ is ‘wow this game isn’t for you and you’re bad at it’.
I know, it sucks. Sometimes I’m loosing patience as well. But even if my party doesn’t do great, I’m just trying to do my best to learn the game to the degree that I won’t rely on other team mates as much. However, if my attention is occupied by the hate towards other players I start to play poorly as well. It creates some kind of bad momentum loop. I guess my point is that I don’t mind challenge myself with impossible odds
Anyway I believe there is something wrong in regards to the mobility of knives and dual swords that greatly trivializes difficulty by players being able to outrun enemies or so. And Zealot’s independence only contributes to that. But the gap should be addressed regardless of what mode you’re playing in.
Also I personally don’t take try hard players who play only with the cheese stuff too seriously.
On the other hand, if you’re blessed by the Emperor and join forces with like minded folks, it’s a blast.
Of course you don’t share my issues, you’re a different person. I don’t take things too seriously, I just don’t have fun playing with Randoms, and I’m an MMO player who has no issues with pugging raids and dungeons in those games, it’s just that certain games (like the tide series/left 4 dead) that I don’t like playing with Randoms, it’s not fun. But I can put in over 400 hours into Vermintide and Vermintide 2 as a solo w/ bots (plus hours with my friends) because that’s actually fun. So, that covers your comment about this “not being a game for me”. Failing the mission isn’t the problem. I fail missions bots all the time in Vermintide 2. But I can enjoy myself solo more than I can with other players.
Your entire comment can be boiled down to “just have fun the way I do.” which is not how that works.
What can be better than playing in solo for this?
That’s the main point of playing solo such game.
I heavily disagree
This is linked to the lack of brain of several players.
You cannot fix that. You cannot make someone being smart suddenly.
I often play with high mobility weapons. I can go in front of the enemies… but I always stop to wait others (or close to that - there was one time where I rushed cause of ninja looters)…
Honestly crazy you’re using this line of reasoning when both Vermintide games managed to at least give solo players the bare minimum they required to get value out of the game. If they want to call the game “Tide” and have it be a spiritual successor, pretty fair to expect it reach the bare minimum standard its predecessors did 2 years after it released.
Especially considering this was an advertised feature. Like come on that’s just insulting at this point. Only reason I have to even keep posting in this thread is how insufferable you insist on being. God forbid we expect a franchise to not actively regress in its features with new instalments.
Solo play is fully accomodated in Warframe, in that there is no content you are not allowed to attempt by yourself - it’s just easier, in general, if you play with others, and arguably more fun depending on the group.
Because you can play any mission in solo, it’s fine for the game to have hundreds of different missions and for you to be able to choose any mission you want to play - if you lived in Antarctica you could still experience all of the content.
You can play the game anytime without worrying about whether or not your friends are online or if you will get a good PUG, or that you’ll let your team down with poor performance or be let down by the same.
Because you can pause in Solo you’re never under pressure to finish the mission in a certain amount of time, or afraid you’ll be punished by the system for quitting the mission - you could pause in the morning, go to work for 8 hours, then come home and finish your mission.
40000+ average playercount, just on Steam - I think having Solo mode, so you can log on and play at a whim, is part of why this is the case. You would also expect that this game, which is probably the best 40k game ever made, based on an already popular IP, could compete with those numbers, but it doesnt come close.
I know I’d be playing Darktide every single day if I didn’t have to first be in the mood to deal with other people - as it is, if I don’t find myself in that mood I will play something else.
It’s frustrating, especially when people make excuses for FS or say it would be too hard to implement or not worth their time, when you can look at another game like WF or DRG and see that it actually works and benefits the game as a whole.
hell, it works for Vermintide 2; the bots are reasonably competent, and will even hang onto potions, healthkits, and bombs to pass off to you when you need em. They don’t do minimal damage, they don’t go down repeatedly, and they dont waste health. They aren’t better than a player by any stretch, but all of the difficulties are playable solo because of them, as long as you’re not trying to grab all books or grims.
Darktide’s bots seem very deliberately worse than Vermintide’s, and the lack of playable solo is also very deliberate and further reinforced by this havoc release… That is their choice, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it, and it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t contribute to some extremely toxic or negative experiences with the game.
The fact that speedrunners are incentivized to ruin the game for three other people per run because Fatshark refuses to let people play solo is just… absurd.
I don’t think it’s deliberate at all. I think just the nature of the game’s mechanics, classes etc make it way way more difficult to make bots work within the many gameplay systems.
I’m not surprised at all they gave bots low priority. I think they’re aware they’re not really good enough for accessible solo play, and the skill tree update probably made the job of updating the bots so daunting that solo play is just in the “too hard” basket for now.
I don’t particularly mind any of that but at this point just allow us to do private solo matches anyway. Then improve bots when some more higher priority jobs are done.
Want to add that full book runs are absolutely doable solo w/ bots on Legendary. I’ve never tried it on cata due to there being no point (harder difficulty w/ same reward table as legendary)
Yeah, this is a straight up bait and switch. Developers promised Solo mode prior to release. Myself and many others bought this game with that mode in mind. I played the game long enough to level up the 4 classes, and I haven’t played since then. Waiting for this feature.
I attempted a refund through fatshark but it was denied. I went hard in the paint when the game came out and leveled up all 4 classes to make in the anticipation of using them later with bots and then haven’t played in over a year waiting for the feature to be added. I guess that was bad of me, because now I’ve played too much. My fault for preparing for the function they promised. Oh well. I’ll contact the FTC and we’ll see what happens. Pretty sure bait and switch is illegal.
