I want it just for penances.
same here
Adding “private mode” only penances before a solo mod was added was a bit of a misstep in prioritization in my opinion.
If solo mode was introduced before the private mode only penances, it wouldn’t have felt so bad (although it still would have been even better if they gave us better bots where we could tell them to stop firing… or to lay down and die).
I bet if you spend all that time spent on writing i this thread on downloading mod for solo mode, you would save some to actually play it.
if i play solo mode, i wanna at make some progress in it, and don’t bring up the mod, it just feels like you’re trying to make excuses for the devs.
The many more try mod does allow progression, but it feels awful to use repeatedly as you have to use an external site to pull the mission codes, and it can’t be used on console. So, Fatshark better deliver sooner rather than later.
I’m just convinced they’re not saying anything because they know the backlash will be awful when they finally admit Solo Mode will never be coming.
Look at all the support we get from players that aren’t even interested in Solo Mode but are fighting for it as a matter of principle like Badwin and Ragnarok. If Fatshark says “yeah, we’re never adding it.”, I can imagine the rioting that will happen.
Personally, I’ll be pissed, but I’ll take an answer over silence. I already refuse to give Fatshark another cent until they provide solo mode or give us an answer as if it’s coming. If the answer truly is “never” then they’ll also “never” get another cent out of me
Solo mode also needs bots that aren’t Generic McDefault the vet and are somehow worse than the ones in VT.
Bumping for support
Honestly that’s pretty easy. I personally have given up on giving them further money due to the shop being godawful.
Fatshark! We’ll make our product so terrible you won’t want to buy it, thereby saving you money!
Sure
Better to not loot medikits and ammo crate. So much fun when the team get wiped just cause nobody had the idea to open chests…
No thank on solo mode, waste of dev time. Isn’t there private lobbies? I dont know current mods but there has to be a mod, right?
Private lobbies require 2+ people, which is bs.
There’s a handful of mods that allow solo w/ no progression, and one that allows it w/ progression, but these aren’t available on console.
Also, the devs could literally swap the requirement to launch a private lobby from 2+ to 1+ and it would take less than 10 minutes and make 90% of solo players happy. Sure we want better bots too, but as a bare minimum requirement for solo it’s not hard to implement. Making your only “con” to solo mode being added a non-issue.
Agree.
I didn’t know it required 2 players. I agree and call bs.
That pads my own made-up narrative that everything is a joke to FS now.
Having proper bots for Havoc in the next update would be a much needed addition, but sadly it’s unlikely.
I think the main ‘problem’ is their fear that solo players will farm (funny considering the crafting system), there is a solution: just reduce the amount of experience gained by a factor of 3.
Any excuses from FS - excuses and unwillingness to work, the latter is expressed in the latest cosmetic update of the shop
Why reducing exp?
I don’t understand the reasoning behind.
It is harder and you would get less reward? Something is wrong here.
They can just allow players to go private without having to be 2. And problem is solved.
It takes 2 minutes to change this number.
No, absolutely not. That is the worst possible solution to stop an imaginary fear. The best way would be to incentivize group play, not punish solo play. Give a larger (not significant, like 5% tops) bonus for solo queueing in Quick Play specifically would be all they need to stop the imaginary “solo mode farmers.”
But that’s a moot point, the real reason they won’t say anything about Solo Mode is more than likely the fear of backlash while trying to “do something new.” they do this all the time. They create a system (a game that is exclusively Co-op/ a BS Hyper RNG Crafting system with lockouts.), players complain about how terrible it is for months/years, Fatshark is convinced the system is not only what the players actually want but are systems the players need (literally their own words.), they finally cave and realize the system they implemented is dogsh-t and they change it. (they did this for crafting in VT2 and DT, Weaves in VT2 recently, and the skill trees in DT). So, currently my hypothesis is some suit is convinced that players need an exclusively coop game and have forbidden any work on Solo mode and will personally fire any CM that so much as says anything more than “not a priority”.
The bots in VT2 are very dumb and not allowed to use potions or bombs. Most of them don’t use their career skill well or possibly at all. Darktide has a larger toolkit - imagine getting bots to use blitzes and abilities and two weapons with different optimal combos for each weapon for each enemy all while dodging and positioning and prioritizing revives…
Bots in Darktide will need to be fundamentally different from players. I mean, they already are, but they’re only nerfed relative to a competent human player. They’ll need buffs. Smaller toolkit, buffs that human players do not get to compensate. Calibrate them for performance benchmarks rather than trying to 1:1 replicate a human player. Like ability to survive, # of kills per minute, use some basic benchmarks like that and just tweak some values like bot health, damage. Basically treat them like enemy AI that’s on your team, what would have roughly the value of a competent human teammate.
Their stats can be tuned per difficulty level. So a Damnation bot might reasonably have higher health than a Sedition bot, rather than simply overperform or underperform on a given difficulty level. In VT2, well-equipped max-level bots can easily carry you through Champion difficulty but often fall apart in silly ways on Legend and basically cannot handle Cataclysm. That could be solved by tuning their stats for difficulties just like enemy units.
Tomorrow is the big day! I have an anniversary post planned, and hope you all will join me in calling Fatshark out on their evasive tactics!
Also… anything better than placeholder bots would be appreciated.
It’s been two years already.
Because they end up being there, more than we’d like…
