The flashlight for a “longer-range” weapon seems a bit weird.
No zoom while Alt+Fire. Do other marks have zoom as I only played with 1?
The blind fire has trouble with its ability to single shot, Either you rapid fire or not. Spread is awful.
Improvements:
Toggle firing modes, see below example from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 (#9). A button toggle to switch firing modes (A for auto/1 bullet for single/3 for burst),
This helps greatly to give the player agency over the weapon they use. (this should be done for most ranged weapons in the game IMO)
YES, this thing bothered me a lot, I would just suddenly stop shooting when I was clicking LMB
This weapon is really good when your team is having trouble killing specials, which is always in pubs, but you need some form of Toughness regen with it.
You can use any mark you like, but I enjoyed the middle one,
The dps is not a disappointment when you could hipfire into monster’s face.
(only used the hardest hitting one, I doubt the others are any good)
Weird that both of the best(to the point where other variants are irrelevant) variants are from Achlys.
Also if you use surgical on the slowest firing one, and brace, it shoots slow enough that iirc it can get 2 stacks of lv4 each shot. That’s a decent amount of crit.
Basically I use it on only one build, melee one. I use it mainly to snipe enemies. This is better than a kickack, for sure. But I prefer my kickback “sniper” gun (with Run ‘n’ Gun).
This weapon is really far more precise when braced, and you can use against everything while not bracing.
But this is not a versatile weapon. It is excellent only for sniping and nothing more. So that’s why it is on the melee build, cause I don’t really need to play with ranged weapons, except if I face a snipers barriers (the lasergun rock’n’roll game )
Practical, though, it’s fine. I joked before it dropped, but it really is an infantry autogryn gun. The flashlight is a very good addition to Ogryn’s arsenal and I’m happy that it’s basically a flood light.
I’d rather Ogryn wasn’t the class to get the first true sniper weapon, complete with a zoom and an unobstructed FOV Helbore and lasgun users can only dream about, but it is what it is and it works.
Flash light was a function tax and to lean you towards the braced toughness regen in typical ogg build ‘variety’ (being led through hoops). They also didn’t change the overall stubber rule much - if you want to auto fire, you should crouch. Base spread drops like 30% and the increase per shot is far less. The recoil is a lot less when rapid firing braced as well. Crouch is obviously anti-Darktide movement meta though.
Mostly just points out how unnecessary the trigger delay mechanic is for the big guns though, or maybe that’s just me. Sliding around shooting bursts of Krourk in crouch makes me wonder why I’d pick up the double guns again (except Achlys).
Trigger delay on Ogryn guns only makes sense if you pretend his weapons have a team of Grots inside who have to manually pull back the firing pin whenever the ogryn pulls the trigger.
Otherwise, anyone with red blood cells in them knows the trigger delay has no purpose outside of energy weapons and gatling guns.
Yea but its literally only on Gorgonum and Krourk twins…it just makes them worse than they could be. Krourk in particular since the Gorgo at least crumps good when you finally get it out and shooting. Krourk has a spread pattern that favors bursts, so trigger delay just makes it take even longer to do anything.
My thoughts were that it’s extremely unnecessary to slow to a halt while shooting braced, like the reapers can walk around shooting an automatic stubber but our ogryn can’t? Also the reload seems a bit too long for the smaller magazines.
I really want them to re-work that roaring advance talent to let me literally run n gun like these new buffed reapers. That’s the one gun enemy buff I was really happy for, that big idiot was a joke enemy unless he had the green glow.
Yeah I tried it for 1 mission then never used it again. Felt very slow and cumbersome. The fire rate was so slow that you can’t kill enemies quick enough and it made my Ogryn slower than when I have a rumbler.
A shame as a high power long range gun was what I wanted. But a gun that slow? No thanks.
It needs to be 4 times as powerful to warrant that fire rate and magazine size.
I cant stand this weapon and imo they play worse than the other weapons we already have. Using it automatic feels terrible and you spend more time reloading than anything else. So many times playing with them id rather use a kickback. I feel like these weapons fill a weird niche because the only time they seem useful is at range but often times there are ten different elites and specialists on your screen ten meters away and instead of just spamming a kickback I need to meticulously aim this stubber at them but doing that just doesnt feel right while playing ogryn. Even just dealing with a few shooters and a reaper and a dreg gunner around a corner feels like a chore with this stubber. I liked the one shot capabilities of the achlys but i dont think fatshark knows wether they want us to use these weapons automatic or semi automatic. Like why would I ever use this weapon close to mid range over a kickback or an achlys stubber? These weapons feel very weird to use in many different situations outside of long range and im going back to other ogryn weapons for now.
You’re trying too hard to ADS, you don’t ADS with boltgun for dps either.
Learn to hipfire and drag down mouse some more. It has a far higher skill ceiling than other ogryn options.
Crouch for Ogryn is almost required. I typically crouch and then burst fire, which is why I am having so much trouble with this weapon and blind fire.
Yea, strange, considering we are rejects/prisoners/undesirables I do not see why at least one Ogryn would take another’s gun, even if they are tainted by the warp.
Which Mark?
Yup, I have the most trouble picking out the sniper with the new HS than just blind firing literally any other gun, But It might be because I was using the wrong Mark. Still, I agree the weapon doesn’t sit right.
When crouching and blindfiring is better than using the alt+fire for a “sniper”, something might be off with the gun.
Have you tried hipfiring this weapon at anything thats not 2 meters away from you? It feels horrible to use and also many of us are not on pc but its not like im not used to controlling recoil. Imo they feel terrible to use and id rather just use a kickback and basically any situation I could ever be in. Also you arent hipfiring a sniper 70 meters away above a mixed horde but using a kickback I can jump shoot twice and kill said sniper without even thinking but with this stubber you have to meticulously stop what youre doing steady your aim and control recoil to kill said sniper when the kickback just makes that ten thousand times easier.
