About the Ogryn's new weapon (Heavy Stubber)

I am crouching like I am playing CS

Achlys and Gorgonum.
Krourk also has zoom, but it’s not a lot

Yes, crusher heads at 3-5m.

Get closer.

If the gun does that much dps at range then it would be hilarious op.
Even boltgun accuracy on fullauto is abysmal for mid range.

It’s simple, closerange hipfire spray, brace for longer range.
If you want hipfire at almost all ranges, use the twinlinked achlys.

The heavy one basically replaced GG on a few of my builds, it’s quite nice.

I didnt say I want to be able to hipfire enemies at all ranges I said the hipfire at any range feels terrible and the way your crosshair expands makes using the gun automatic perform even worse. I cant find any reason to use these weapons over what ogryn already has.

I found this to be less true for the Krourk, the achlys hipfire is way too inaccurate for real though. With the krourk you can totally just crouch and dump some specials through a horde though it’s nice.

My problem with these weapons is there are times where using it automatic would be useful but they feel like weapons that should never be used automatic and you run out of ammo so fast your just caught in reloads constantly when id rather just use a kickback or a twin link stubber.

really dont like it . the ready up time, bloom, glacial fire rate.

its just a hard no for me its just not fun

The only good one seems to be the Krourk (light one), but the hip fire still seems too inaccurate for what it is unless you crouch like you did with Achlyss Twin.

Get used to point of impact being above where you aim, this isn’t exactly new to gaming.

maybe I’m trying to stay glass half full with the terrible letdown that was ogg tree changes but I think all 3 can do well. Achlys pops and kills easy enough but has the heavier brace time. You can kill a flamer with just a crit body shot and opening salvo. Gorgonum is weird but has the absolute best case loadout for special sniping. With Deadly Accurate it will hit the same breakpoints as Achlys (everything but mutant, oggs, maulers and ragers) but with 60 more shots between resupply, 10 more between reloads and faster brace/brace movement. And because you don’t get suppressed + the targetting uses the forgiving wide ray cast of the revolver its pretty simple to do.

Maybe I’ll try a box loadout with a deadly accurate gorgo, seems like it could actually sustain you through a game with minimal poaching. A red box is 23 shots, enough to deal with a couple specialist waves by yourself if you’re a grotting crack shot.

edit: I return with updated info. it is unfortunately impossible to get all of poxburster/dog, scab/dreg gunner and flamer. its pick 2, I would go flak for scab gunner and maniac for flamer (wow the darktide perk setups who guessed). but it was still pretty effective.

This doesnt change anything about how these weapons feel or perform in the heat of battle and id still rather play with a kickback. New stubbers feel awful to play with and no ampunt of aiming a little higher will change that. Unfortunately the kickback still reigns supreme.

buddy, if you’re using it in the same situations as a kickback you are using it incorrectly.

Im not your buddy, pal!

A weapon with the primary purpose of giving ogryn something reliable to click head with at extended ranges ends up not being as flexible and effective against mixed horde at mid range compared to its more rapid firing alternatives…etc.?

Shocking. /s

If you can’t handle using melee to compensate for ranged weapons’ downsides(since you clearly refuse to use skill to compensate for that), that’s a problem with your build.

Yeah dude I totally have a problem with my meta ogryn builds with god roll pickaxes. Im talking about the stubber and my disdain for it, thats it. As ive already stated id rather just use a kickback and so I do. New stubbers are jank AF and thats my opinion.

Nah, the new stubbers are great, I like particularly the kurok and the achlys, kurok may be technically a little better though.
Primary fire it’s only “usable” at point blank and it’s okay, because from afar you have the braced mode.
Achlys may be slow with ROF but it’s very easy to oneshot all specials whit exception of mutants (that shouldn’t be shot at anyway) and gunners.
Kurok has weaker shots but it faster equip and higher rates makes it more versatile.
Overall this weapons need to played different than the heavy stubbers (thanks the emperor).

Using the Achlys on my melee build, with Deadly Accurate and Surgical, and I absolutely love it. It covers my build’s main weakness by popping heads at long range, and that’s all I need.

Can’t say I’ve used the flashlight much yet though, I guess after playing Ogryn almost exclusively since the beta I’m used to fighting in the dark.

Again that’s a you problem.

There is twin-linked version if you want to shoot most of the time. The single barrel version is for a different purpose.

The massive difference between kickback and singlebarrel heavy stubber(only referring to achlys because others are not heavy enough) is that heavy stubber does far, far more dps on monsters(pretty sure you can out dps kickback with heavystubber in slow ADS mode), crusher(kickback: “ding!”)…etc. In fact it’s quite competitive against boltgun overall if going for headshot.

It just requires a different way of using it. A long wield time isn’t jank, it’s an intentional balance choice, see helbore lasguns.

I fully agree that you can’t just pull out a heavy stubber and blast a special from melee range like you can with other weapons like the kickback or mk5 ripper, but that just means you adjust your play a little. When I use a heavy stubber and I hear a trapper I back up and whip it out because no matter how far away the trapper is I can snipe that (and then hit a couple other things like gunners or other specials while I’m at it), whereas when I got an mk5 ripper on I just let it come to netting range, swap it, shoot it, then go back to meleeing. Neither is inherently worse or better imo. It just brings variety to Ogryn gameplay. It’s a great weapon addition.
