They tend to benefit the bad players but also the good players as you pointed out, you could argue that even that the good and very good players benefit more, which is rather ironic.
Worth noting again that I suspect some of the mid-range players that don’t benefit from them also can’t grasp the cheat mod’s impact overall because they themselves do not, so often they’ll chime in here in defense of said cheat mods because of them.
Specifically some lack this:
So, you have some of these people adding useless noise to the discussion because of their own limitations and their inability to come to terms with them or extrapolate, and the noise always favors the wrong side in these situations. “I’ve used the ESP radar for 3 weeks and found no benefit” and the like.
That’s actually a really good point I never considered. It is entirely possible that all, some, or only a few of the randos in Auric that demonstrate unequivocally they should not be there are already using every “extra trick” in the playbook. So they would naturally not even be able to comprehend why cheats are bad in PvE.
I just want to point out that it’s curious that the most common argument to defend cheating in this game always makes sure to call it “cheating in PvE game”. These posts never mention that it’s a multiplayer game. Cheating in a multiplayer game suddenly sounds pretty bad, huh?
Because your experience of the game is meaningless to me as long as I get to live my John Darktide fantasy to its fullest, regardless of the means used to achieve it.
It’s not nearly as subjective as some of you make it out to be in an obvious attempt to obfuscate things, it’s not black and white but it’s also far less gray.
I’m sure I shared this story before, but back in the before-times when Diablo 1 item duping became a thing, many of us refused to play co-op with duped item users and those who did use duped items and tried to join us were laughed out; this was not out of the norm.
