Most modders I’ve met use a Scoreboard mod which fills the community with elitism and score comparing.
There isn’t a scoreboard in the default game for that very reason.
“I got more kills than you. I get more kills than everybody. I’m the best.”
That’s the problem.
Then they stop playing with the team and leaving said team behind to be Rambo.
Kicking people based on kill numbers instead of stun numbers, assist numbers.
Second… cosmetics and weapon mods.
A modder can remove their weapon from their FoV, giving them more screen real-estate to see what’s coming.
A friend of mine has scopes on all of his weapons, giving them an unfair advantage over every other player. It keeps him safer than us because he can see and engage enemies from range.
He experiences FAR less risk in his gameplay than everybody else.
There are mods that give advantage to some players, and create a toxic environment for others.
All I ask is that Mod Support be removed to force everybody to be on a level playing-field.
if we were talking about a finished game you would have a point, but this is not the case for darktide
and about the scoreboard, the other games had it, ogs still call them green circles, the reason why they didn’t add it are lame, like the rest of the quality of life that wern’t ported
you can’t even choose which map you want to play after 2 years of everybody requesting it
Anyone asserting there there should be no scoreboard is actually just bad at the game and don’t want their own inadequacies on display. Whether because they think it will invite toxicity or not, they just don’t want the reminder that they are underperforming.
People right now are WOEFULLY underperforming in Auric damnation and high level Havoc, and the pub scene is an absolute mess compared to a month ago. Lobbies are filled with newer/returning players thinking they can hang and perform at a difficulty level that they in fact cannot handle.
A scoreboard would be one way to make this clearer to people in denial about their skill level. People that don’t want that prefer to put their head in the sand and are avoiding feedback that would help them improve.
normally i’m pretty neutrak, even when somebody has a bad take, but this is just the absolute WORST take i’ve ever seen, i’ve seen better takes from twitter, git gud. i agree about the scoreboard thing, it makes people too toxic because they think that they’re gods among men, but every other mod is fine, you just need to get good instead of whining about how other people can use mods. or, if you’re on PC, just get some yourself, i mean, honestly, what the hell is wrong with you, never try to cook again.
my dude, they’re like 3/4s of the server. scoreboard elitists will be here making the game worse for their imagined green circles forever, the devs should crack down on 'em for the game’s health.

what if everyone was content stunning and “assisting”? all depend on the next dude to finish the job and play spin the bottle while enemies pile up?
dont worry, people dont “need” a scoreboard to reveal the stinkers, memorize their tags and opt out next lobby.
its fun to actually see how far some bonobos lag behind fondling their own balls instead, not gonna lie and it should be mandatory for every underachiever to read and contemplate about before even getting a chance to join the next lobby.

your rambo-fixation suggests many games not going “your way” when in fact those doing the actual work and carrying the load are in the front killing stuff, not drawing lines in the sand until everyone agrees on the same turtle tactic.

and that bar is set generously high, given the show thats skipping learning to jump into damnation as soon as the game allows without ANY mechanical skills or knowledge about the games basics

Where is all that elitism and toxicity, caused by the scoreboard, that fills the community?
I can 100% honestly say, that every single case of toxicity that i have ever seen in regard to a scoreboard in darktide, came from people complaining about someone else using a scoreboard. Not from those who are actually using the mod, based on information they obtained by using the mod.
Thousands of matches played. Not a single person has done this.
Even if someone did… Where is the problem? When someone kills more than everyone else, why would they not be allowed to say that it is the case?
Meanwhile, basically every single auric+ lobby has at least one player who could use a reality check.
If we had a scoreboard built in, at least the more reasonable noobs would maybe pick a more appropriate difficulty.
After not having seen any of this type of toxicity across thousands of matches, there is only one conclusion.
People claiming widespread toxicity (and blaming it on scoreboards) are either so annoying to be around, that they often also end up on the receiving end… or they are simply lying.
these are mostly the people with the mod, in my experience. they get the party killed chasing damage numbers, then go down, blame everyone else, and then post their scoreboard on the steam forums or something to cope. they only rage in the game chat if the rest of the team is carrying hard enough that they can’t get the party wiped first and it’s likely the group would win with a bot there anyways, usually they go down and ragequit.
I’m sorry to be a party pooper but that’s textbook elitism on display, and the amount of likes on his post just shows what the entire scoreboard lobby revolves around despite their continuous attempts to hide and gaslight playerbase that it’s the other group that is toxic.
I’m not sure what the various arguments of anti-scoreboard people presented on these forums are but this thing just sums up the entire vibe of pro-scoreboard forum warriors: ‘u don’t want scoreboard cuz u bad’.
Surprise, you don’t need to be good at this game to play it. Moreover, in case of scoreboard specifically you don’t need to be good to have a valid opinion on the matter. I’d go even further - if the main argument of anti-scoreboard group is that scoreboards add to toxicity, then the best players will actually have very little exposure to the phenomenon and if anything will be just as, if not more biased than the ones who are not as good.
I’m sorry but this is just a flame war. We’ve had green circles in Vermintide, it’s good they’re gone.
