Same issue here, seen a few other posts about it on reddit also.

Restart steam? A hotfix came through like an hour or two ago.

(Edit) It’s today’s hotfix 1.0.23. Just close game and Xbox App and restart both.

Indeed, for microsoft xbox app users, as it shows in my original post. Tried verifying files and restarting xbox app, also restarted pc. None of it worked.

(Edit:) Gamepass user, here. Unable to get past Processing Inquisitorial clearance.

Wait… so they pushed an emergency hotfix to their servers knowing it would brick the game client for MS users until the patch passed certification on Microsoft’s end???
