WTF have they done to the Psyker tree?

Inferno Soulblaze coupled with Rending melting armor too?

Maybe Scrier’s does a bit too much, could use a slight adjustment to when the 20% TDR is available?

Are you speaking of the Penetration of the Soul talent?

Not sure. On the one hand it seems to me that using your ult to buff your melee dmg is exactly when you need extra dmg resist the most because otherwise you’re likely wasting it, assuming you use scriers with a melee build.

More so of the Rending provided by Uncanny but Penetration of the Soul coupled with Blaze Away, Perilous Combustion and Shriek certainly melt away armor too.

That logic is definitely sound, makes sense that’s when a Psyker would want the TDR. While I can’t speak to Havoc, in Auric the Scrier’s TDR +2.5% Toughness per sec + Warp Expenditure + Mettle on a Shred equipped melee weapon allows for some nutty damage absorption even in the thick of Rager groups.

It almost feels like taking on the role of Zealot level tanking at times. What if the “+20% Toughness Damage Reduction, and Suppression Immunity. You also replenish 2.5% Toughness each second” was switched to " When not in Scrier’s or Unbound period, you gain +20% Toughness Damage Reduction"? Suppression immunity and 2.5% Toughness per sec could be during Scrier’s Gaze instead.

Eh…the tree is “fine”, but if Smite and Inferno staff permanently disappeared tomorrow, I wouldn’t even blink…maybe just maybe I would let out a short tired cheer at that point. Easily 2 worst things about psyker balance, and it has been like that forever at this point.

I agree the real culprit here is that soulblaze can benefit from uncanny. Imo self-buffs from weapon-blessings should not be able to “carry over” from melee to ranged or the reverse. I remember when they nerfed Slaughterer for the same reason that the buff stayed even if you switched weapons.

The fact that you can unload a huge number of stacks of soulblaze and then just switch to dueling sword for a few quick strikes of uncanny to get to 100% ignore armor, perhaps kill a few scab ragers or maulers, and then Perilous Combustion chain reactions melts everything, completely counteracting the intrinsic weakness of soulblaze against carapace. You don’t even need shriek for it.

It seems to me the fix here is rather simple. Do not allow anything other than melee weapon trikes to benefit from the uncanny weapon blessing.

The brittleness blessing and Penetration of the soul talent have nothing on Uncanny Strikes in terms of negating armor. You’re not going to be melting a crusher train with your inferno staff with those alone. It’s when you switch to the Dueling Sword with Uncanny and stab a few times to remove all the armor for your soulblaze dots that the whole thing becomes ridiculous.

Noo, I love to burn things! :fire: :smiling_face_with_horns:

I do too, but it needs to be balanced.

No problem, I love to burn balanced and unbalanced things.

Some players here should print this out and put it on a sticky note next to their keyboard, so that there’s at least some hesistation before typing their typical “skill issue” nonsense

I doubt they even play Havoc with statements like that

havoc 30+ difficulty, and even in those difficulties you’re hard pressed finding yourself dying

1 shotting everything

You can’t even 1shot on auric damnation with half the weapons, let alone in Havoc 30+.

Even if they talk about specials dying to one headshot, this has always been the case.

This is the case with every game ever made, that’s why tier lists are popular. People go for the best thing in A and S-tiers, because they just care about the win, they play the game to relax and most players don’t care about tinkering with niche talents and builds that take hundreds of hours to analyze.

People are so afraid to step out of their (literal) bubble

That’s ironic you say that, because you guys represent the same thing, except the opposite extreme of it.

You judge the game and the bigger playerbase, based on your skewed view of playing in a premade of 2-5k thousand players, saying outrageous stuff like “you can’t die in auric” or “havoc is easy”.

Exe Stance Helbore and Martyrdom Eviscerator have very good niches in Havoc and people on this very forum are talking smack about them.

I’m over here bringing Chainaxe 12 into H40 and even good players I respect keep telling me that thing is bad until they see me go at it.

I have nothing against Eviscerator, but just because you like clunky weapons which have some use, doesn’t mean other players are obligated to revere them like a holy relic.

In the end people who defend stuff like Chainaxes and say they don’t need changes (the same crowd that said Exe Stance and Tactical Axes buffs are bad) are not that different from “casuals who spam S-tier weapons every game”.

I’ve finally quit to play Battlefield 6. Call me when they put Purg Psyker in the dirt and maybe I’ll care about this corpse of a video game.

Also I only played pubs and still had a stupid high winrate at 40 so pick someone else to make a strawman out of because it is not me. Like 100 people on my steam friends list are people I met playing pubs in VT1, 2, and DT.

Oh no, you’re not honestly saying chain axes need a buff now are you? I’d like to make a rule that if you don’t actually use something to a considerable degree, you don’t get to comment on its balance. God forbid anyone enjoy a perfectly competent weapon without it being a top meta pick.

I advocated buffing the chain weapons to people with sufficient influence to get it done as I felt they were objectively the worst weapon type in the game. Even now I find issue with them.

all chain weapons should be able to animation cancel activation like the chain sword and the chain sword’s strikedown lights should damage heavy armor. other than that I think they’re doing pretty good. maybe put the bonus damage on initial ticks for unyielding and maniac too, I just want to shred things…

It’s absolutely reasonable to switch games if you’re not entertained anymore. Farewell and have fun! :waving_hand:
