I played with a premade group of 2 in a pub game and one of the guys would just take forever to progress the map I mean forever just searching every little spot. I get wanting to loot but this was just insanely excessive I quit at the 1 and a half hour mark l, I’m fairly patient but it was just dumb I even tried to explain to the guy that you would get more plasteel just by completing the missions faster and grabbing what you can see but the guy insisted on checking every possible corner of the map. I don’t mind looting but Jesus Christ be respectful to other peoples time at least a little and they were a 2 man team so of course you can’t kick anybody. I just can’t for the life of me understand why they didn’t just make a private game if that’s how they want to play since by the way the guys friend was apologizing this is an ongoing thing that irritates people. Since then I just quit if the team is annoying/griefing or whatever the case may be because you don’t owe anybody your time and it’s a game, you should be having fun while playing. To clarify I will gladly stick around if the team isn’t the best or situations similar to that but if your just annoying your teammates and continue to do so after somebody lets you know you can f right off. This was even post crafting update when materials rent even that useful or scarce. Partly my fault for staying in The game so long lol this and selfish teammates are the biggest gripes with the game. Would be cool if they had a solo mode

I think this past week has been my worst Darktide experience I’ve had in ~2500 hours of gameplay. The sheer amount of people playing Havoc that do not have the semblance of a clue of what they’re supposed to be doing has been pushing me into a level of Darktide induced insanity completely unheard of.

I’m going to do something I rarely do here and I’m going to indulge in some anger posting. Enjoy:

Rant

Even before Havoc, Darktide was a uniquely skill-oriented game. To do well in it demands that you understand how it works. The game is very intentionally trying to kill you all the time by all manner of means and you have to be knowledgeable in how to counter that in all its forms. I feel like this is a fact that is impossible to not catch onto by the time you’ve leveled at least one character to 30 but somehow these swathes of people manage to remain clueless even considerably past that. In the most Dunning-Kruger way possible, they gravitate to the hardest thing the game UI will let them play without even a hint of an intelligent thought as to whether they should. Previously those were auric missions, now they’re havoc missions and boy are they adding their own whole secret modifier to that game mode.

I quite literally can not understand how people like this feel ok going into a game where people spend a very real and finite real life resource, time, and wash it all completely down the drain never to be seen again by being the Darktide equivalent of a blind toddler with IBS that can’t stop sh*tting its diaper and endlessly needs someone else to clean it up for them. It’s inconsiderate to such a degree that I genuinely can not understand how people do it. The only thing I can imagine is that they just don’t think and are completely at the mercy of whatever environmental inertia they find themselves in.

Regardless of whatever does or does not go on inside these alleged brains, all I know is it’s aggravating to the highest degree.

They think that once they turn 30… they’re Maelstorm-ready or even Havoc-ready which is much worse. I just laugh & leave the menu as soon as I see under-leveled weapons, etc. I’m just not dealing with this… I have 2.6khrs so far & I make a judgment call on whether to stay or leave. It’s sometimes just a gut feeling. Just been doing it for so long that you can just tell. If they’re 2 noobs & maybe 1 good play, I still leave. I’m not carrying their a.s.s.e.s. Only pre-mades for me now

Maelstrom Auric Damnation. Working overtime from the very first minute.
Suddenly, one of the players goes AFK because he “had to take a dump”.

Tragicomic situation right there.

This was a wonderful rant and I support every single statement of yours.

It truly is unfathomable the amount of stupid juice in this game, beyond the “I just started playing this game and need to learn the ropes” kind of people. It is BAFFLING. :smiling_face_with_tear:

It coincides with PS5 release and Xmas new players with winter break. That is why the experience is worse this month particularly.

I mean solutions are so simple from what I’ve read.

  • Crossplay toggle
  • Solo mode
  • Scoreboard - Show only once team mates disbanded after mission end. It isn’t a green circle chase, it also acts for self performance evaluation and improvement. There you go, not toxic if it only shows once everyone left squad.

I see posts about team mates rinsing medstations or ammo pickups. Solution is obvious to restrict in a way so every player gets their own allocation. But I feel this would take away element of team work if everyone is accountable to their own. Not a big problem at the moment.

Taking away “sharing” is like taking away “caring”. Just like how people “Leave no man behind” at the end even though it yields no additional reward. It gives you feel good boost to help others.

No doubt… I very strongly feel that cross-play should have toggle. I’ve said this a billion times. It’s insane to me that Fatshark didn’t implement this option on the PS5 release date. Personally, when I did play with pubs the vast majority of my issues was with console players. Not sure why that is, but it cannot be an absolute coincidence. If the option did arise, I’d rather not play with console players as shtty as that sounds. The point about med/ammo allocation is very interesting. Since there’s a ton of new players now it’s not exactly a bad idea necessarily. This also has happened on numerous occasions. I get it’s a teamwork type of game, but fk… double dipping is really not cool at all. The worst thing is grabbing more health when somebody else needed it more desperately than you.

afaik consoles have a toggle for crossplay, only we on pc don’t. devs must know that most pc players would opt out of they had the choice.

people can play on an abacus for all i care if they just weren’t that clueless.

The problem is that consoles are much more accessible so then you have a larger less mature demographics mixed in with decent console players. So then they are generalised, that’s life. I’ve seen a great Xbox Psyker with great timing and stuns as less agility with movement required in the backline.

This PS5 guy knows the advantage. Why not add natively into the game as it exists for Xbox. This ends the whole controller vs MK once and for all.

On the funny opposite side:

Tom Clancy’s Division 2 PvE coop game. No crossplay, no cross progression, dead match making on most game modes. To the point even PC players are begging for cross play with consoles.

What are you, a bigot? People are free to join any games they want, if someone just grinded their first level 30 on uprising/malice and then instantly hoped to Auric Damnation HISTG to die and ragequit on the first horde, then godspeed them! I will carry any amount of new players! Are you saying you were pr0 since the very moment you started playing? T5 Auric is the great place to learn basic mechanics such as pushing and dodging. Stop being a toxic egoistic player, bro.

Kill me.

For Honor also added crossplay a few years back and it made matchmakig much faster for PC players.
Sometimes you get lobbies of all PC players, sometimes I’m the only PC player but most often it’s a more mixed lobby. Interestingly, the console playerbase is much larger but my lobbies are usually 5PC, 3console players in ratio.

Some of the key differences:
○ It’s a PvP game
○ essentially has input parity (as in, neither is distingctly better)
○ All 3 Platforms can obt out of crossplay!

So what the hell is stopping DT from giving us (PC) the option to obt out?

Probably to ensure if PC player count ever dropped then it would ensure match making time is minimised if all in the same pool.

Or simplify the server instancing of hosting game servers without having to separate queues as overhead so cost.

I agree with this… however, I would like that they treat with equality all platforms.
Remove the possibility to opt out that exists on gamepass.

Besids the fact that there are larger dynamics at play here and FS may not be the only ones making those decisions, less options are usually bad.

What good does, making gamepass players as unhappy as the rest of the Pc crowd, do?

Just give all other PC players the option to obt out.

Nice clickbait.

Thanks. That’s the summary of the reddit snowflake narrative being pushed against gatekeeping incompetent players from the difficulties they don’t belong.

Worst experience is Havoc.

I’ve played 2 hours since that launched, and I have no intention of returning either until it’s a player wasteland and aurics are populated again as they once were. i.e. give the PS5’ers time to bed in or move on to another game.

Putting in an entire game mode that divides the game population, and then in addition blend (realistic) abilities by allowing level leap-frog with a carry? Baaaaad decision imho.
