Hi, can Fatshark bring out an option to report bad sportsmanship, singling people out and abuse on Warhammer Darktide. I just had a game with the most unsupportive teammates who actually voted to not save me and spoke to me like a piece of dirt after getting knocked down while having their back and holding off enemies that would have otherwise killed them. I play as a tank so require backup as well as providing it and regularly deal with unsupportive teammates who don’t play as a team but I also feel sorry for the people who deal with abuse and bullying too and it’s completely unacceptable as one of of the terms and conditions is for people to adhere to good sportsmanship. I would also like a solo or duo mode as a new way to test our limits, abilities and gain rewards, not just in the Psykanium.
Thankfully I have never really experienced this. It must suck pretty hard when one does come across it, though.
Also a big yes for Solo and Duo modes.
So 3 random players all agreed not to save you?
I don’t mean to be a jerk, and this might not apply to you, but this stood out to me.
I’ve played with a lot of people who call themselves the “tank”, both in DT and VT2, and in every single case they were doing it wrong. The reason is that they all seemed to think of themselves like an MMO style tank that soaks up aggro and nothing else. These people required constant babysitting or they’d die and then start going on about how nobody plays with the tank or whatever.
The MMO style tank doesn’t exist here. Even fully defence-built shield ogryns aren’t that sort of tank. You must be able to pull your own weight in all areas, or you’re an anchor on the team, and people are going to notice that.
Don’t get me wrong here, I’m not trying to argue that the behaviour you experienced was justified. Just trying to provide another perspective on it.
We’re getting one side of the story. This man is angry enough to post on the forums, but I’m wondering what he did to get to that point.
Was he constantly going down? Yelling at people in chat? A mix of both while overinflating his importance?
From the context it sounds like he was massively falling behind killing trash mobs slowing down the entire group, but he recontextualized it to make himself look better.
If it as a solo queue the chances of 3 people deciding to group up and bully one guy while also managing what is overall a pretty stressful game for most people seems kind of low.
Not really. Unless there’s a lot of specials regular, and even mixed armor hordes are free for “tanks” which I’m hoping means you we’re on an ogryn with a shield. You chain stagger everything as long as you just spam heavy attacks. If you just sit there blocking that’s a you thing, and what some less classy people would call a skill issue * snorts, and hocks a loogie at the ground *. Skill issue.
You can private game duo queue. Solo is not available for “reasons” despite it being available in their previous game, and modders having put it in quite effectively (with rewards/progression disabled though).
They might’ve been grouped up. It’s been known to happen.
True
This so much. Shield on the ogryn exists only to have those niche scenarios like sudden 10+ gunners looking at you or aggroing the shooters to you covered.
While most of the time you should have literally one thought. “Nobody will touch my team if nobody is alive to do that”.
And while shield maybe isnt the best in terms of raw killing power (although after recent patches it’s kinda subjective) it’s one of the best weapons when it comes to stagger/damage ratio. Which means that you can clear mixed hordes by yourself without relying on the team, and allowing them do do their thing.
Here’s a link to the tank build i personally use. Main idea is to do as i wrote with the caveat of having enough survivability to revive your allies if everything suddenly goes bad. Grenade gauntlet is great for special sniping, and that’s what i personally use it for because i don’t need much more CC on this build.
Now, when to block, and when to plant?
See a bunch of gunners, and you and allies have no cover? Walk in front and plant, there is a high chance that gunners will prioritize you, and the aggro will keep them on shooting you, allowing allies to dispatch them safely.
A sniper? Just blast that guy with a grenade, and never try to protect allies from sniper shots, he can and will ignore you, and still hit your ally.
Shooter horde? Hold block, and advance on them, they hit you couple of times, aggro and will try to hit you in melee where you can safely dispatch them.
Rager/mauler/crusher patrol? Spam your heavies and try to hit the head, you will most likely stagger them with that. Block any overheads you can’t dodge.
For trash/mixed hordes just spam heavies, they will keep those guys on the ground while you pummel them to death.
Grenade tbh is your choice, but since i run gauntlet, i prefer the box for having that prolonged stagger. Basically treat it as a CC option with a nice direct damage.
lol, OP fell into the trap of thinking they can build for a role like a MOBA. Come on! this is a co-op shooter OP, we multi-task in this beitch! take your sensitive ass back to DotA2!
Absolutely this.
If you can carry your own weight, no jerks will be able to ruin your experience.
I’m not trying to justify the individuals you played with; they seem rude, but you also don’t seem to understand what kind of game Darktide is.
This isn’t a MMORPG. There is no holy trinity: tank, healer and DPS, or a MoBA with carry, support and initiator.
On paper, Quorin, my Veteran, is “spec’d for support” with VoC, Krak Grenades, CDR/Health, Toughness Regen Trinkets, and carries a Recon Lasgun so the ammo can go to the Plasma, Bolter, and Stubber/Rumbler users in the squad, but in reality: I’m like everyone else: aiming to be self-sufficient while being a team player.
In Darktide, there are no roles. There are only heretics who need killing.
Trust your squad.
Love your Power Sword, love your Lasgun and love the Emperor!
