Communication I-in February
Yeah but it’s definitely not a excuse still
As said the most glaring issues haven’t been gw approval
It’s been fundamental design and development issues with the game. That’s entirely on fatshark especially since it’s the same mentality and mistakes behind these actions the last half dozen times they made them fatshark are the masters of making a mistake or intrinsically flawed system any level of community feedback or testing would have shot down, the community have to complain for an extended period of time until fatshark address it and then they make the same mistake next game. There’s something very wrong with how fatshark are run from the top down.
There’s a clear distinct difference between gw going no you can’t have a accurate kasrkin set in the store only call of duty are allowed (but a scion helmet with no corresponding armour is okay) or we have to approve this trailer. Compared to okay we’re going to design the gear progression as a complete unfinished layered rng mess and launch the game with literal coming soon signs.
There are core fundamentals issues at fatshark that need to be called out again and again and again until they permanently stop being an issue.
Or having bugs return with every major patch; that suggests some pretty big structural issues, especially in their versioning and/or deployment systems, which GW wouldn’t really have any influence on.
Ummm actually he told us the game has to be a technical mess its mandated by gw.
The game code itself has to be in line with how much of a mess the imperium is. Its lore accurate.
Maybe it’s been infected by time-travelling scrap-code.
I can’t wait for the ai director to start eating the fabric of reality
It already eats away at my will to live at times
We know that Fatshark wanted to do customisable weapons based on that Edge magazine interview, but it never materialised and now we have Marks and Blessings instead.
SM2 PvE doesn’t have any weapon customisation either, effectively copying the Mark system but dressed up as e.g. unique bolters that you unlock by playing with the bolter. Ask yourself, why is that?
I can’t say with certainty that GW interference runs that deep, but it makes you think.
Fatshark doesn’t have weapon customization because they were desperate to bloat playtime as much as possible so they went back and broke itemization in an attempt to keep people playing their broken and underdeveloped game.
SM2 doesn’t have customization because it’s made by the WWZ guys and they have never implemented actual customization in that game either, it’s the exact same style of system.
I understand the cynicism. It’s a shame that this interpretation is the one that makes the most sense as long as the full facts can’t be at everyone’s disposal.
@FatsharkStrawHat
There’s plenty of things we can justifiably take issue with regarding Darktide and FatShark as a whole, but you’re not one of them.
On the contrary, you’ve been pretty much the only one we know we can rely on. No one could claim otherwise in good faith.
Share those facts, then, rather than being condescending about it.
I’m just commenting on the situation. I have nothing to share that isn’t already public information, be it from Fatshark themselves or from other developers that have commented on their working relationship with the IP holder.
I think that’s the problem, we’re all at the Occam’s Razor point of “the simplest conclusion is often the correct one” because we simply don’t know. We can speculate all year, but without any confirmation or communication (not Strawhat or other CM’s fault), we’re left with assumptions. And given the track record of:
- release game with broken and unfun systems
- People complain.
- fix the systems and make the game genuinely great.
- Innovate for new game by backtracking on all the progress we made in the previous game and release worse systems
- People complain.
- fix the systems and make the game genuinely great
- Repeat from step 4.
We’re just left with cynicism at this point.
Personally I find Reddit to be the better forum than this one and both Reddit and this forum miles better than the Steam forums.
Ew reddit
Disgusting echo chamber
share it then
Reddit is for mostly memes and sh!tposts, sometimes good advice gets shared, occasionally a good discussion and where I go to collect downvotes and white hairs from videos of Emprah-awful plays and crates being wasted.
Reddit does seem to have more visibility though so a good spot for PSAs.
Discord is where forum trolls go to hide and giggle about their perceived pwns, Steam is…there?
Lets not pretend any of them is an Algonquin round table though, I’ve seen many a Reddit take here too, and more of them lately. Fascinating though from a pop-psychology perspective and at the same time kinda scary. I like that people may engage more here, but sometimes, yikes.
ALL THESE DISCUSSION PLATFORMS ARE YOURS, EXCEPT REDDIT.
ATTEMPT NO LANDING THERE.
USE THEM TOGETHER. USE THEM IN PEACE.
Among other things, but it’s my personal favourite out of all the Darktide social spaces.
