Why is communication with Fat Shark so poor?

Gigabased. I remember how people were excited on release, expecting things to get fixed. There were discussions how this and that should be revamped, and thing X needs more options, because there was hope and demand, people were excited even though dissapointed how the game was realeased half baked.

It’s some insane level of incompetence to fail supporting a game with such potential.

Remember how some dude saved DT solo with reroll mod. Crazy there was no Andy in FS office who though “damn we should add 1 line of code” before the modder did. On my previous work at the office there are always was small things i implemented at home, because i wanted to and understood that it’s just should be done.

The fact they drop trailers after events started…i never seen such thing a company doesn’t care about marketing. It’s just clearly they don’t care much and probably developing V3 or something, while struggling with UE5.

IIRC they said they are happy how Havoc is doing wich is Weaves 2.0 again noone asked for.

If DT was on some easy to modfiy engine, there already would be all enemies from concept arts, maps in new biomes and probably 3rd faction, and probably some crazy thing like housing.

Because players know what they want, but FS doesn’t understand gamers and unabale or unwilling to hear them.

well someone felt poked enough to flag it. getroffene hunde bellen

deserved tbh

for real? oookay. well proves my point all the more i guess.

Funny because hd2 is on the exact same engine and the devs have managed several much more substantial gameplay additions than fatshark

It’s not an engine issue it’s a company one

Yeah ditto, plus that’s my thing! That’s the thing that I do!
I wanna see @Index 's post, especially when pots are calling kettles black, or glass houses or “getroffene hunde bellen” and stuff.

you’re speaking pure facts, fatshark needs to do better because right now, this feels almost as bad as lunchly, and that is BAD.

appearantly i was “too offensive” voicing my dislike for reddit based on repeating observations over about 2 years.

but since in best llamas with hats tradition :“i dont apologize for art” and wont ever redact stuff i’ve written.

only stuff i edit is when i find typos.

Both things suffer from the influence of nurgle

CARRRRRRRL why are you hating on one of the worst most hypocritical poorly power tripping biased moderated social media platforms.

This forum’s pretty alright other than the word filter and sometimes a community hero heroically swooping in to lock a thread for absolutely no reason whatsoever just because he wanted to drop the memetic “IF Y’ALL CAN’T BEHAVE I’M GONNA HAVE TO LOOOOOOOCK IT” mind virus line.

It comes with maturity, but one day they too will learn: They didn’t actually “have to lock it”. Nothing would’ve happened if they didn’t

Communication has never been good, but between the Tencent aqquisition, and the fact DT launched in a bad state, we created some problems.

People were not happy and sure there were some dumb responses, but this community bullied the heck out of Hedge, and anyone else they could communicate with on FS’ end.

There is also no shortage of stupid comments going around, I don’t blame them for not wanting to talk to the community when basically every attempt is met with unfettered vitrol.

Not trying to be an apologist for Fatshark’s poor communication, or slow / bad development of Darktide, but the community response is pretty offensive, and im not entierly innocent in that regard myself, i’ve most certainly said some harsh things about the game, but what I don’t do is directly attack CMs or the Devteam.

This part isn’t quite true, something may have happened.
Progress may have been made as people who wouldn’t otherwise speak up might have and differing opinions may have been shared. Liars, bullies and uh,…other types rely on being louder and sockpuppetier; locking threads benefits them.

The “I’m turning this car around” has become a bit tiresome.

Ain’t that the truth, poor Hedge got starchified, and now they’re working on StrawHat?

I would say most of the posts directed towards them are constructive criticism. The amount of “vitriol” is probably equal to the number of posts jorking fatshark for doing the bare minimum.

But yeah, I don’t think mean posts should prevent them from communicating with fans of their game. This is the internet after all, where Mountain Dew ran the “Dub The Dew” sweepstakes to create the best name for a chance to win - and they had to cancel because Gushin’ Grannies won.

The community hero thing is weird and likely just a way for FS to start pulling away from activly paying attention to mostly useless forum posts. Something that started around WoM when they introduced dedicated testing groups.

The funny thing is how CH’s are determined, most of the people who got the title I don’t even know, and the ones I do know havent posted or been on here in over a year if not longer.

I will give reddit credit where credit’s due. Hobbyist subreddits (like aquascaping, ant farms, etc.) and small game subreddits (like, around 50k members or less) tend to be really welcoming and supportive. The gaming ones might get a bit toxic depending on the game, like I’m on one for a gacha game I play because it’s the only active community for the game and with 58k members it is mostly full of supportive tips and advice for new players or memes with the occasional sweaty try hard getting shut down because most people are there to enjoy the story and gameplay (and cute characters) and my wife and I have browsed the aquascaping subreddit for ideas on an aquarium we are wanting to set up and they’ve been nothing but kind and welcoming to us newbies in the hobby.

But if you get into the massive subreddits or major game franchises it quickly becomes toxic.

Idk man, I talked to Hedge a lot and I liked the guy, but the comments I read were not constructive at all, mostly slurs, death threats, or generally negative personal attacks.
