Why had the two returning cosmetic item bundles their weapon skins removed?

Hi,

This topic is referring to the following cosmetic item bundles, just returned to the Commodore’s, not having their previous weapon skins attached to them:

Both bundles had had their price cut to 2100 (I own Flyby’s set, thus can’t see the price proper, but I assume it’s also a 2100-Aquila set right now), as well as their weapon skins removed. Both sets were previously priced at 2400 Aquilas, with 5 items present in Flyby’s set and 6 items present in Elyna’s set.

(shout out to Ridden, the author of the excellent guide with premium item descriptions @ Steam, as the below two images I borrowed from their guide for the purpose of providing evidence for this post)

Flyby’s bundle had the following weapon cosmetics attached to it

  • Catachan Combat Blade skin (Dolumar Basalt)
  • Infantry Braced Autogun skin (Dolumar Basalt)

Elyna’s bundle had the following weapon cosmetics attached to it:

  • Catachan Sword (Imperator Vitae camo)
  • Infantry Autogun (Purgation Fields camo)
  • Crucis Gloriana weapon trinket

So… what happened? Why are these items gone from these bundles all of a sudden?

As of recent weeks/rotations, a certain tendency can be observed, with weapon skins being moved out of cosmetic items sets and instead being sold as standalone, complete packages, which are comprised of a singular, universal (across the weapon’s class) weapon skin with specific accessories, at a premium price.

It’s worrisome to say the least, and perhaps a sign of things to come for the future sales of weapon cosmetic items. We might never see a proper customisation system implemented for the purpose of changing their visuals, like the one being developed in the popular, unlisted Extended Weapon Customisation mod.

@edit 1-4 - minor spelling/grammar mistakes.

FS is obviously convinced that they sold their cosmetics to cheap and thus lose potential income.

While this is hard to believe for me - they have the numbers and these obviously suggest that higher prices are the way to go.

i’ll give you a hint: $

Y’know, I was wondering how they’d square the circle of having the early cosmetic sets be much better deals than the new ones.

Fatshark, you disappoint me, and only convince me not to spend money on you

The premium store designed to take money from people does it again.
Driving someone away again to save their money from fatshark’s sheer lack of care and laziness.

Well done fatshark you’ve saved another loyal customer’s hard earned money.

they worked so incredibly hard on them its just not feasible to bundle them all together they will go bankrupt

They tested the waters with the Krieg set.
Will paypiggies pay more for less? Are they that dense?

Why yes of course. Given the amount of Krieg sets running around. And lo and behold they proceed with their new tactic.

People have themselves to blame.

Clearly its fighting the Aquila inflation caused by free MS store Aquila deals.

Just my personal opinion, but i would rather put my head in a vice than spend more money on this game than what i already did by buy buying the imperial edition when the game first launched.

But i am assuming they made enough money on the Krieg set despite their scummy price increase, so this is the way forward apparently.

Eventually the 2500 Aquillas i got from the imperial edition is gonna let me buy a re-skinned potato.

I have no doubt that this is the case. Watch next returning old sets with new arts (coincidentally not wearing certain iconic weapons on their art showcases - it took me a few minutes to make the correlation the moment I saw this store rotation with the new arts) make a return in the same fashion.

According to what Catfish related on the official Discord server, this is being investigated, although I’m afraid it will either end up being forgotten or not properly addressed back to folks that care about the service’s quality (but I will certainly be pleasantly surprised if it eventually did).

I would like to know what FS is up to. There is many more recoloured items lying around in the game’s files, yet it seems like FS still are trying to figure out how does one find the golden mean in promoting and selling new sets, while making sure that the old sets can eventually be acquired by players that missed them.

All in all, in the upcoming days or weeks, I will be working on making a bigger post, with the intention of bringing out the bad practices in the system and what would eventually need to be alleviated. This topic just struck to me immediately today and it was a good opportunity to bring it to wider attention.

I don’t think this is a healthy practice, i.e., removing items from old sets, even if the price is properly adjusted.

I do not need a hint, I know just the reason, only why this decision has been made without any prior notification is what is bugging me.

People who don’t document store rotations wouldn’t notice this change, but I did (and do document store rotations, prices, dates, what have you), and it felt like the right thing to address in just the moment it has happened.

It might be the way to go for their benefit, but I do not plan on adhering to it. For the service to get better, there needs to be a bigger discussion held in the community.

Before that happens though, I will try my best to be aware of any mishaps such as these and address them here, where someone, be it CM devs or other vocal players, might notice.

JFC, as if this crap wasn’t already absurdly expensive for what you get.

Other than the meme worthy krieg filter shrinking I haven’t seen fs respond to people about the store being just awful for everyone.

And these threads are common and get some decent attention.

Fatshark making it really easy to not spend more money on this game, plenty of honorable game developers out there to support.

There probably won’t be any response ever, because why would FS disclose their marketing strategy to their clueless customer base?

Furthermore, I don’t reckon there were any attempts at communicating what new will make it into rotation eventually - it has all been quite vague an experience at best. When will old sets be returning is, again, not communicated in any way. It’s frustrating to be treated this way, to be quite frank.

I’m partially replying also because I don’t want this topic to die. I would like to see an answer from the end of CM, as some search was hinted at, back when I brought up the Discord reply of Catfish, in one of my previous replies in this trail.

You may have missed the post I made, begging FS to let me buy the Boulder of Bagordan, but I made it. I’m an Xbox player, and I love and appreciate the work PC players put in to this game. I will always be grateful to you guys. But I got some Aquilas, to spend on overpriced packs, with less stuff in them, and I don’t even get to know when, or if this year, the Boulder of Bagordan pack will come out. It kinda hurts, because I played this game with the hopes of living out my fantasy of playing a Bullgryn.

Oh worry not, I saw the post - I scour the forums and other media quite regularly for evidence of people complaining about anything Commodore’s-related, and I’m glad that you spoke up!

It just makes me sad. I love Warhammer 40k. And over a year ago I was SO excited to play a Bullgryn…and then it came out for PC, and the cosmetic pack came out, and I was sad, watching it pass by. Then it was released for Xbox, but the only mask available was the Brown one that matches nothing. I wanted to buy it flat out for 9,400 Aquilas… but they still said no, and I was shocked. I’m practically begging them to take my money, to let me have fun….

Imagine running an online store so badly people who literally want to throw money at you can’t.

It’s so nice of fatshark that they run the store in a way that people save money from how poorly it’s run.

It’s pretty hilarious seeing fatshark try and copy the formula of every other in game store on the market but manage to completely and utterly stuff it in their own special way.
