Yeah, I don’t know who they have running it, or who thinks it’s a good idea, but when someone has something for sale, and someone says, “I’ll pay you triple for it.” And you say, “No, it’s not the right date for it yet.” That’s a head scratcher for sure.
Legitimately hilarious that they somehow managed to make it so every single system outside the moment to moment mission gameplay, even the predatory MTX store designed solely to take advantage of whales with poor impulse control , is such a huge pain in the ass to use that a lot of people just give up and don’t bother with them after a while.
It’s a level on incompetence that I wouldn’t even expect from a first time game dev. It feels like one of those things where you’d have to try harder to make it this bad than if you just kind of phoned it in and made something with the most basic level of functionality.
Maybe it’s malicious compliance.
Yeah it’s that thing where you have a dev attempt to revolve a non existent issue but in the most rushed quick and nasty way possible.
Payday 3 did the same thing with changing regular per mission xp progression to purely challenge based xp rewards where you can literally get no xp from completing a mission for the sole reason to stop people farming missions, and most people hated it and dropped the game instantly and it didn’t stop farming because people just farm in one mission crouching in a bath tub to farm kills for specific weapon kills challenges.
It’s like every design outside of the mission gameplay was rubber stamped because it mentioned the word ‘retention’ or ‘monetisation’ in the description somewhere.
On topic: the price for these bundles is 300 blitzcoin less than the original bundles with weapons, no? Not making excuses for it, it’s no doubt funky, but it’s worth noting if correct.
Sorta on topic: I’ve thought a lot about the shop because it is such a sticking point for people, especially the diehard WH40k fans. And as I see more and more people saying they’d shell out hundreds of bucks for their favorite cosmetics, I have to wonder: is the shop on a random limited rotation because there is a legitimate concern that offering the entire catalog would result in a massive revenue influx for one month/quarter and then that recurring revenue would just fall off completely? Wouldn’t look so good to the business folks!
Yes, the price has indeed decreased from 2400 to 2100 for both sets, while also accounting for the items being removed from them. There has been rumor that the FS have not decreased the price while removing the items, which is bizzare.
In regard to the rest of your statement: I feel like I the rotation is the only easy solution they could come up with short term to keep bringing attention back to the shop, that and maybe how the hub Mourningstar area works in general, or even the ready-up screen before mission.
Notably, there is a lot of exposition to folks buying and wearing premium cosmetics there, hence, someone might feel encouraged to feel the urge to splurge their Aquilas.
What FS prepared works - I’d wager it’s the vast majority of their cash flow currently, now that we’re a year post release. If there won’t be any enforced regulations to how these systems are perceived in relation to EU laws, I very much doubt that FS will want to resign from this approach. I find this daunting, because the odds of us getting a fully blown-out store with say, promotions even and the like, or the option to purchase alternate items within item sets, is all that less likely a possibility.
comparing the first sets to what we get now, like the old steel legion, it was such s steal COMPARED to what we get now
