When I started to play (about half a year ago I believe), it was throwing errors every time I was about to load to the station, except for the initial load (when entering the game first time). After every mission, every time I changed my character or exited the simulation - almost every time it was an error, with redirection to character selection. Then it allowed me to load into the station.
Then there was a shorter period when games just sometimes crashed for whole squad at once, cancelling the mission, devaluing all your efforts invested. In Havoc it also counted as minus one attempt, super fun. Though it happened rarely, it was enough to kill all your desire to keep playing for a while, what’s the point in straining yourself, trying your best - if server can just say “nope” any minute?
Now I rarely see those. Instead, I regularly see horrible desyncs during the mission itself, when mobs start running in places, or gliding, then DC follows - and when I reconnect it usually continues. Usually happens for just one, sometimes two players on the squad. But when it “sticks” to me, it won’t let go for HOURS, making game unplayable. FS has a full thread dedicated to this issue, going on for months. No solution in sight.
That’s supposedly how a game 3 years past release looks like these days
There are mods that somewhat alleviate the problem. They’re called:
guarantee_weapon_swap
guarantee_special_action
guarantee_ability_activation
Experiences vary, but at least for me they have significantly reduced the issue. It doesn’t disappear entirely but I suppose if you are as strongly affected by this issue as I am you might also benefit a lot from these mods.
Is one of those allow to solve the issue with Zealot’s Chorus of Fortitude, when if you mash the button to activate it as soon as it’s of CD, it often will activate - then immediately deactivate, as it treats subsequent presses as command to stop channeling the ability? Like, some configurable time window after the activation during which another press won’t interrupt the ability?
There is an option in the mod that tries to counteract the double-activations, but in my experience it doesn’t work all that well.
It’s better for increasing the odds of activation on a press, but for multi-charge abilities it can be detrimental because it actually queues up activations. I recommend testing it out.
For my own part the greatest benefit has been the guaranteed weapon swap mod because I so often got caught holding a ranged weapon and wanted to switch to melee and block, and nothing happened.
yeah everyone knows where to find mods and how to use google. i was clearly asking if they were allowed on official servers.
and mods should not be the solution. doesnt even sound like they work that great anyway. the game servers are broke af and the developers need to fix it.
Four frigging times in a row im kicked from the same game. Flying hounds, ice skating reapers, teleporintg pox bursters. Keeps asking me to reconnect but what can I Do? nothing the servers are just bad. why is the game like this?
What is not even funny is that after I made this post I’ve been having endless disconnects over and over. Can’t even “reconnect” because it just lags out as soon as I rejoin.

Also when I do get to play, my inputs are dropping all over the place. Just a general overall poor DT experience today.
