Who's Next

Let’s discuss which classes could come after Arbites and what their potential is.

The classes should to be realistically be in darktide in order to make the lists

High potential classes (no reason they can’t be in darktide)

  1. Sister of battle
  2. Weapon specialist(character with a backpack weapons like the engineer from vermintide)

Medium potential( would fit but due to either rareness or lore could be problematic)

  1. Necromanda style squat
  2. Tech adept
  3. Rattling( apparently being short is difficult for POV)

Low potential( not likely at all but could fit)

  1. Catachan
  2. Kin
  3. Mutant
  4. Beastman (yes they exist in 40k and they are actually good guys)
  5. Xenos Mercenary
  6. Jump pack trooper

Tell me if I missed any or if something on the list should go up or down in potential

Sisters of Battle are everywhere. It wouldn’t be surprising to find a church they set up to do charity and preach in the slums.

I would have put sisters as high but from what I know of their lore is that sister generally punish sisters

Except PoV issues and style issues (Ratling’s complete lore putting them into Snipers roles make them ill suited for a Tide gameplay)

So Scion ? Which we kinda know is dead cause Vet already has the helmet…

Honestly 2nd or 3rd place I would say.

Able to bring quite a lot of cosmetics that the Zealot isn’t touching atm, and there is enough lore to build a tree around act of Faith.

Sadly PoV issues, and them not wanting to have “Bardin but in space”

Yes, top candidate as its able to bring loads of cosmetics and there is a throve of lore to use to make weapons, and the tree.

Afaik they want to avoid leap and teleporting abilities due to Slayer and Battle Wizard just creating loads of map exploits/problems.

That’s just a (futur) Vet cosmetics (or for the whole selection of Rejects)

I suppose you mean a Kin from the Leagues of Votann, better to keep with Imperial Squat but have some traded League stuff (or old inheritance)

Also PoV issues.

Quite a lot more likely than most, if a new Abhuman does happen, it’d most likely them.

Cosmetics would be a tad difficult as well as the tree, but weapon would be heavier stuff than the human and no Las weaponry

Due to gaming restrictions I think we wouldn’t have something as randomised as Mutant.
And the “stable” versions (Subs Abhumans in lore) are a not really what I would think are likely.

Xenos mercs I don’t think should happen but if it’s not Reject some could work.

Other than those, we could in theory say Hive Gangers (though in between Vet and Zel in term of design), and Death Worlders (again could be Vet)

But the 2 I’d say are what should happen are something Admech, and then something Sister (of Battle).

And if a 3rd happen then, a Beastmen or something. But I think 2 would be quite plenty.

POV wouldn’t be too much of an issue and while adept with snipers ratlings are actually quite skilled warriors skilled in various combat styles

Weapon specialist are a seperate unit on table and ideally they would rather be an alt class for vet but if not they could easily just add them as a seperate class with access to backpack weapons

Necromanda squats play different to bardin and also why not bardin in space we already get his hair

generally yes, but could easily explain by not having logistical capacity to do that,
and since the Echlesiarchy district is part of the map pool, it’s not a stretch to say that it has been overrun and thus
either authorities were wiped or cut off from their ordo militant and logistics disrupted.

Many sisters turn to the nearest authority figure if they either think it’s in the interest of the emperor to do so, or for the sake of receiving their penitence if they can’t reach their own.

PS i don’t think the engine is programmed with Jumppack in mind, i doubt they can implement that easily, let alone maps having enough vertical space. Could be fun tho

i really don’t think FS is gonna add Ratling, they had a stream where they talked about the Pov changing classes aka bardin and ogryn, and they talked about the difficulty of creating maps for them, when asked if they would mix a high and low pov im pharaphrasing it but essentially said they don’t think it’s a great idea, but would maybe comeback to it..
if you aks me thats corpo speak for no, but maybe if we are tenatious enough

Ad Mech if another, ratlings being suppressed by dialog change or being opened up for possible addition… I’d presume the prior due to someone’s offended opinions.

Battle sister too close to zealot sadly

Not big on the lore, don’t know the names but i would think some kind of reject from the cult mechanicus some augmented human that didnt pass the grade and its three subclasses could be based around whatever was implanted would be a good fit.

Weapon specialist should be switched with tech adept/anything mechanicus in high potential.

Money is Fatshark’s primary motivator and anything mechanicus would make a dozen times more money than a generic weapon specialist.

Not for DT. It will be unplayble, considering how DT is VFX heavy. All ratling POV will see is yellow, green and blue fires. Visibility sucks even for normal height POV.

Absolute zero chance. First of all DT has almost zero lore accurate skins, elisian and vostoryan, wich else? Such precious piece of lore will ask from them SM2 level models accuracy.

Second and third - ecclesiarchy subfaction is already presented in the form of zealot and power armor is just another power level.

Kin

Depends if GW want to promote them rly hard. Have some marketing value.

Weapon specialist
Catachan

Those two are not even imperium separated subfactions, but just a squad role/regiment, wich you have veteran for.

Noone rly cares, and have 0 marketing value. It’s like vampire coast level before WH TW reimegined them.

This one just as arbites is a nobrainer. One of the most popular factions, easy hype, assets partialy already there. Even summons ai if you want a second summoner subclass with servo skulls.

Ok but how would you differentiate them in terms of gameplay from all the female zealots running around with bolters and eviscerators?

Have it be set around “Act of Faith” instead of pure zealotry.

Havinga main mechanic of Faith as a resource used for its blitz, abilities and aura.
Blitz:

  • Blessed Strike: Spend Faith to empower the next melee strike (can be stacked with special weapon activation)
  • Spirit of Martyr: Spend Faith to shield an ally (or yourself) in a shield of Faith (Think WP’s ability)
  • Purge the Unclean: Spend Faith to cause an explosion of fire

Ability:

  • Pure Faith: AoE should that apply burning and replenish Faith
  • The Emperor’s Deliverance: Ranged stance that buff all allies that are shooting

If they add a Tech Adept, PLEASE let one be a Logician who rejects the dogma of the Mechanicus, at least quietly. Maybe their suspected sympathies to progress is why they’re even thrown in with the Rejects! I really want the option for a mechanical character who isn’t just praising the Omnissiah all the time.

Also, they better be the next class, I mean they have so many cool options for abilities and weapons.

I don’t think we will see any other new classes after this.

Whatever GW want’s to sell, it is no coincidence that both dark tide and rogue trader get the same class at the same time.

And yet FatShark can’t be bothered to fix there own game.

Exactly what i was thinking

My bets are on:
-Tech adept (definitively first)
-ratling
-beastman
-sister of battle (i feel less likely of the bunch i’m ready to put money on, just cuz of so much zealot overlap)
