Who do you think is more likely as the next enemy type?

I pointed out what should be added, there is a theme to this hive city that has a particular problem. The Inquisition is on site, not the Astartes Militarum or a Chapter house. Numerous other people have elaborated on reasons against bugs, elves, and robots. This is Nurglnerds’ time to shine. You want other factions pick a different planet.

A great unclean one is a bit much. Grey Knights have trouble banishing a Great Unclean One, 4 dinky humans just collecting a paycheck/not being hanged wouldn’t stand a chance.

If they were going to do a Greater Daemon fight it would probably need to be its own mission type. Center arena and different phases to the fight sort of thing.

I hope we get to all 4 different chaos types. Currently it’s just Nurgle?
Absolute first will probably be the Chaos Spawn though or some Nurgle addition, but completely new… Khorne is my bet.

Me. I will be the new enemy type.

I would love to fight a Chaos Space Marine. It could be done really well and make the setting so vivid if it was an Alpha Legion Marine with the traitor/s reporting to him, allowing the areas of the hive to be retaken over and over again (explaining mission replayability). It’d basically be like saying every mission is canonical. The reason they don’t dispose of the captured acolytes is for some dark intended purpose involving Nurgle or because some groups have a traitor among them.

The CSM bossfight could be really intense by being this dude with the mechanics of all the specials.
The bolter having a laser sight and mechanics similar to the sniper special. He could charge you and throw you into a pit where someone would have to rescue you up (Mutant). He could pin you down with a chainsword ripping attack (hound). Blight grenade the ground (grenadier aoe flame but dealing corruption). It’d have to be a better boss than what we got thus far.

corpse grinder cult did/have done nothing wrong

That’s quite unimaginative. Why can’t the great unclean one for example sit statically in a giant cesspit at the heart of the spire, while you make your way down you activate beacons, open breaches and call in heavy fire support. The planetary defense force with it’s Valkyries, leman Russ’s and cutscene guardsmen finally get to do something. Once you reach the unclean one he’d be sufficiently weakened to be fought 4v1 with the occasional heavy fire support.

Bossfights should be so much more than they have been so far in the Tide games…

orks or genestealers seem most likely imo

agreed, it’d have to be a singular marine as a boss

khorne, orks, or nids are most likely imo

imagine a spacehulk, and us actively going out into other missions for the inquisitor

It’s made clear in the backstory that the Darktide is a force of chaos and xenos that have now spread through Atoma. While it isn’t confirmed that they are necessarily working together, it seems somewhat implied. There are no major xenos races that in any way worship chaos, with even dark eldar having very tumultuous and short lasting alliances with them at best.

If we do have a xenos race added, it could very well be one of the more obscure races from the books or even a new one yet encountered that worships chaos. This would give Fatshark a lot of freedom in the types of units encountered and their overall design. It also allows them to be in levels where current chaos enemies are present, working in tandem with their allies.

New enemy will be mutated Morbidly Obese Nurglite Tuna, it has no weapons, has a 100 % spawnrate chance on every map played by players who didn’t buy aquilas, regardless of difficulty.
Now, the moment it spawns, you get kicked out out of the mission, watch your character sprint to the Commodore’s Vestures because naturally you can’t control your Reject anymore, it’s like a cutscene and watch your wallet shrink as every step of the way is automated. After that, your game uninstalls and you get a BSOD saying “Thank you for feeding us”. I would go more into detail but it’s immeasurably complex.

Maybe the Hrud? They seem to be pretty secretive and not a lot is known about them.

‘Nurglite Tuna’ sounds like what you would get if Nurgle took over one of the major tuna companies and was trying to sell his filth as a new kind of diet tuna. xD

“You’ll definitely lose weight eating this! And maybe a few organs! Just kidding! (not really!)”

Total War: Warhammer shows the way in this.
Almost any faction can have a temporary alliance with another for various reasons. Yes, it’s fantasy. But it’s not like 40k operates in a vastly different setting.

That’s just GW caving in to let people just play with all their models without having to change their pricing. Alliances used to be super strict in the 40k supplements like Apocalypse and stuff. Once they realized people bought bigger models and could cherry pick the ones they liked from different armies, they just wanted the $$$. That’s why every army in 40k and fantasy has extra big dudes forced into them. But in lore those interactions are so rare and brief that they fall apart before the threat is even resolved. That’s not really something to build a game off of, it might give off the wrong impression about the setting.

I don’t know about the next enemy, but I’m betting we’ll fight tyranids at some point.

I would love to see tyranids or slanesh corrupted enemies.

You are working under the assumption the new enemy type has to be introduced to the same games/matches as the old one.
