What would you want most for a new enemy faction/planet?

This obviously isn’t really asking what people would want to seriously request currently (plenty of stuff to fix/add in tertium and for admonition). I mean something like if in 4-8 years we get a massive update adding a new planet/enemy faction. (Or maybe darktide 2 at that point, though I feel like you could easily just update and upgrade darktide)

What would you most like to see in terms of planet/environment and enemy faction?

Personally I would love to fight Orks, probably on a planet with more foliage as well, dense jungles and swamps between imperial fortresses and ork scrap towns, maybe some wasteland type areas as well. Orks would be a step up from the heretics but I feel like we could still have hoards of grots around, and boyz would be a middle ground between current human elites and ogryn enemies. Not as annoying to fight hoards of them but still quite imposing. Of course you would have armored up nobs that would be stronger then crushers and whatnot.

I think it would be a interesting mixup to the gameplay without being so drastically different that it would need to be a different game.

yep, ORKS!

Greentide TM

No explanation necessary! I imagine the writers and audio designers would have a field day with Orks. What absolute fun it would be to fight them. I’d almost not want to kill them though lol

Perhaps a PvP mode where you get to drop in as an enemy type…I’d love to play as an Ork.

I paint the miniatures IRL.

…I would link a FlashGitz video of similar purging but…

might be weird of a 40k tourist to ask, but could we finally have nurgle enemies in a nurgle themed game?

like… right now, as in NOW now?

not 4 months or even 4 years?

all this rot and snot, gunk and goo and a few tentacles on a poxer or (modifiers in place) ogryn is all there’s to it?

might even pay of a dlc of sorts if asses are put to the walls and stuff finally gets done in a substantial content-size way.

but plague bearers etc by now should be old news rather than concept drawings.

In Darktide, other Chaos Cults, as they could be easily made to work alongside the current game.

And going to the Atoman moons, as Atrox might be a forested moon for example, and does have known Scab/Dreg action.

But what I’d want most would be Daemons being introduced.

Orks, Tyranids… really should get their own game instead.

Honestly yeah I dont think there are any games where you can play as a Ork beside Dakka Squadron and the strategy games of course.

Ork mercenary/freebooter is technically possible for this game though (has a 0.1% chance of being approved by GW lol)

Dark Mechanicum! I love the way Fatshark brought the Chaos Cult of Admonition and the Moebian IV to life, as traitor guard and chaos cults aren’t the most fleshed out factions, so I’d love for them to take on Dark Mechanicum. Corrupted tech thralls, Dark Skitarii, various Daemon Engines and a Heretek boss.

Blood Teeth and Dakka and Speed Freeks too.

And some other games but where you can play as other factions too (Did Eternal Crusade have orks, or just had planned for them)

Well currently the cult on tertium is a cult not a full chaos invasion. Hence why there are so few actual chaos daemons around. I imagine eventually well get more chaos beasts added to the game, probably as the story progresses and the cult fully turns into a invasion. Might be released as a DLC though.

I would expect nurglings, plague bearers (really just a slightly more tanky hoard enemy idk how worth it this would be) and maybe pleague toads (could be a fun elite enemy spawn similar in difficulty to a crusher but with a very different move set) could be added to the game. Maybe also some sort of grand great unclean one final boss.

You should listen to WARBOSS and DA BIG DAKKA audio books written by Mike Brooks and read by Harry Myres. They are SENSATIONAL.

I think they are my favourite 40k books to date. The way they’re written gives so much life and grounding to Orks as a species and Harry Myers voices are perfect.

The humour in it is subtle and clever too. Couldn’t recommend them enough.

Ah yeah. God you know its bad when I can literally look at my library of 40k games and still miss some. I might have a problem, or more accurately a addiction.

I think it did. But that is the ONLY 40k game that flopped so god dam hard even I didnt play it. (I own LITERALLY every other 40k game ever released)

It did game was buggy but played alot like Space Marine 1 with big pvp matches… orks in particular were fun because you have numeric advantage at some handicaps but at end of match whole team would start the WAAGHHH and get buffed up… was so fun being a suicidal manic team.

Which is quite impressive tbh, even got the Realm of Ruin game, what a shame they did that one :skull:

gameplay or atmosphere wise?

cause current power level, a great unclean one would drop faster than what’s coming after a bad day at taco bell

for atmosphere it could be a good boost towards the dark and gritty style that makes darktide this engaging to me.

by now standard enemies a dime a dozen aint cutting it no more when it comes to creating that “homely” feeling of a threatening horde coming for your hide.

I just really wish it was done properly lol. I was just playing Space Marine 1 PvP at that time and it was obviously just better.

Lest we forget Fire Warrior lol

It was absolute dogsh!te but I still bought it and played through it twice at launch because anything that lets you play as a 40k xeno in first person is insta-buy and should be supported.

My ideal 40k game would be Battlefield 2 but with all the different 40k factions where Tau could fight Orks etc.

All the core balancing has essentially already been done via the tabletop!

The maps would have to be nice and big like the BF2 maps. Not the small crappy maps of modern BF games. We need 40k scale for such a fight!

Imagine seeing huge ships in orbit duking it out whilst you fight around the feet of titans! Be a SM and hop on a land speeder or use a jet pack. teleport into battle as an Eldar Warp Spider! Stomp in as an Orky Deff Dread!

You get the picture. I’ll stop here as I need to get on with work and this subject always gets me too excited. Why has no one done this yet? Cannot fathom it. Instant money.

I guess it depends how tanky they make them. A more tough hoard of enemies similar to mobian 21st or more tough as a standard wave type could be cool. Definitely stuff like cutting off their head/arms and have them still run at you. It would be cool. But it is still just another hoard enemy that is basically interchangable with the ones that already exist. So Im not sure if FS would see it worthwhile enough to include.

Yes Space Marine 1 was my jam too… I’d still prefer buggy EC over SM2’s silly PvP

…EC also had vehicles, sieges and other crazy shenanigans was very ambitious.

Definitely a strong contender for worst 40k game there lol. I actually own it on GoG but I couldn’t get it to run (and also I hate Tau and I have no idea why I bought it).

That’s what Eternal Crusade was supposed to be! Real shame it crashed and burned so god dam hard it practically erased itself from history.

An appropriate slot for Plaguebearer might be as the “Dreg Ogryn” taking similar spots as the Crusher, Bulwark and Reaper

  • Plaguebearer: Crusher like, just replacing the Cara with Unyielding, or Infested (but with load of health)
  • Plagueridden: Slower, more tanky variant or armed with a smaller weapon and a shield
  • Sniveller: Using the Disgusting Sneeze as a ranged attack.
