This might sound backwards but my main issue with psykers right now is the damage that the staves do. Purgatus as a Poor man’s zealot flamer (Why do zealots have all these interesting and unique flamer blessings? Purgatus has no unique blessings, its just the standard flurry/nexus/barrage/run’ngun@3/focused channel@2).
Trauma/voidstrike’s full charged damage is “ok” and when i say “ok” i mean not great, but “ok”. You basically need to run tier 4 warp flurry to put out some real dps on these things, with perks like 25% unarmored/infested damage. Surge’s damage is god damn awful and needs to be fixed, CC’ing 5 enemies is nice, you know what else is better, permanent cc? Killing 5 things.
Also I dont see this talked about much but the special activiation on all the staves is like… the worst thing in the game. Like literally the worst thing. The bayonet attacks on guns do better damage/stagger than the garbage melee combo they gave the staff on special activation.
Sure would be neat if fatshark did something useful with that special activation slot. Like a kinetic shield for protection against shooters…
Well whatever, my 2c. I went back to my zealot and veteran and it’s just insane how fast i mow things down compared to my psyker. My psyker I’ve been doing tier 5 hi intensity pretty normally now, so don’t get me wrong, you can definitely do tier 5 with a psyker, but the ease with which to due so versus vet/zealot is silly.
I guess to bring it back around. I’d be okay with the super long time they want us to vent peril if the staves themselves had more impact during their uptime. Not having ammo is not much of an upside in this game. I already loot everywhere for plasteel, i never struggle for ammo, even when i use the revolver which is largely known to be the least ammo efficient gun in the game.
