Where is the Campaign?

I have friends that liked the story progression of Vermintide 2 and aren’t even interested in this game due to the random scenarios in the same dank locations. Are there any outdoor areas to roam around in? Is it all going to be city slums?

There is none. Which makes me wonder why they brought in Dan Abnett in the first place.

There are some outdoor areas in maps but its mostly running around trying to get the foundry back under Imperial control again.

sigh…maybe they will add it later.

There will never be one cause of the Always-Online Live-Service format they’ve decided to go for.

Pretty sure they said the “story” of the game will be told through their Live Service. Outside of the little level-up cutscenes we get, there’s no real story behind most of the mission other than “you’re a reject, go do these jobs”.

However, seems like Throneside is where things will evolve more: the enemy moved more quickly up the spire than Rannik anticipated, and so caught him off-guard and unprepared. We got sent in to evict the heretics from Aegis Station in Throneside and take it back in the name of the Emperor - note that this is the only time in all 13 missions where we physically take ground with the intent to hold it (the reinforcements in Metalfab 36’s consignment yard Raid are only there to pick up the goods and go). During the Throneside Strike mission it’s also hinted at the next mission, Archivum Comms-Plex, if you happen to walk by a certain area. This is only confirmed with the latest vox intercept video Fatshark released, as we the rejects are getting sent in to take it after several Auric-class operatives perished trying to do the same, plus with mention of a traitor (separate from the mole during our level-up process). As a side note, I really want to give props to the VA who did the Mourningstar handler in the vox intercept video, he really puts in emotion and carries over his disgust and disdain for Morrow and us Rejects.

Is this a good way to tell a story? I don’t think so. But it’s what we’ve got, and it’s unlikely to change unless they want to throw out and re-write everything they have prepared. I for one enjoy reading into the small details, as evidenced by the entirely unnecessary paragraph above, so for now I’ll try my best to enjoy what we get.

I understand they want to try new things but a few things should be left alone…like a storyline and a reason for progression other than mindless grinding.
